Wait til OP finds out that people are also gambling thousands of gold during raids.
You just said yourself, gold has no real value in retail. It holds huge value in classic when people are able to just simply buy full bis with gold. So you want to sell more gold to the players? Gold sellers are going to keep running their bots whilst blizz does nothing to stop them, because even if they have to sell their gold cheaper, they’re still 100% making much more money than their subs/accounts will cost before they get banned. And you know how they will catch up with the money they lose if they have to sell it cheaper? By running more bots.
I believe it either comes from stolen accounts, or from bots running 24/7 killing random mobs and auto-vendoring everything.
That and the level boosts they just boost a toon and grind mobs in instances 24/7 for a few months before blizzard bans them after they’ve already made tens of thousands of gold
The question should be “why gold buyers only get banned for 2 weeks?” 2 weeks is nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
It should be bannable but if Blizzard banned everyone who is buying gold almost no one would be left to play the game.
Because biting the hands that feed you is a poor business model, I imagine.
banning gold buyers isn’t hard. Private servers did it quickly and effectively. I think Blizzard doesn’t care that much about it, cause the bans might impact subscriptions.
Why is this such a issue for you?
Over the past 15 years I have spent over $3,000.00 on Blizzard games and features. I even went a stretch of 3 years from the end of MOP to half way through Legion where I didn’t participate in any Blizzard games yet I have still spent over $3k on games and features. They were totally ok taking my money when I was forced to transfer all my toons off dying servers. My main retail account has 14 toons and where one toon goes they all go. I have another 8 toons on classic servers and we all know very well about dead classic servers where its virtually impossible to form a group
I’m one of Blizzards best customers from buying wow tokens to character transfers, Name changes, guild changes, etc, etc. I just received a 14 day suspension for (Here let me copy and paste)
“Recent activity shows that a user on this account acquired gold through illicit means, such as gold buying, botting, or participating in other real-money transactions. As a result of this activity we have suspended this account until 2022/07/21”
No evidence was brought forth nor whatever info on whatever activity I allegedly did which led to the ban. They are also supposedly robbing my account of all gold? I have participated in numerous GDKP events where items that dropped in raid were put up for bid (Many of which can be sold on AH) and the money raised during the event was split amongst the players in the raid.
So I’m assuming this ban has something to do with some gold I received and they are now robbing me and my account. I was not allowed to plead my case, no evidence was brought forth nor a certain time or date of any violation. They won’t even tell me which toon the violation took place on.
“Uh oh, we see something that might be sus on your account, here’s a 14 day ban and we’re gonna rob you now. Thanks for being a one of our best customers over the past 15 years but…oh well”
I have always been a big supporter of blizzard and all their games and this is how much they appreciate their high value customers. I have never been banned from the game, not even for a single hour. Oh yeah, since I can’t play for the next 14 days I have requested 1/3 of my subscription be refunded to me (Sub renews on the 16th). It’s not about the money, its about the principle. Pretty ballsy to suspend someone and expect them to keep paying their subscription. Oh yeah…Ive already cancelled my sub. I even got another account I could re-activate and go play on but this has left a very sour taste in my mouth.
The WORST business model.
That’s because you actually bought gold. They don’t care if you spend 10k on blizz products. You bought gold to p2w in gdkp and got caught.
But really it’s ok. Once your ban is up, you’ll buy another 40k gold to gear up your 10th alt
So it seems like you have a problem with GDKP raids.
So all that gold you earned farming herbs or selling flasks should not be used to buy items that would better your character?
And the money raised by selling those items in raid should not be divided up between participating players?
Your post sounds like sour grapes.
And I have 22 toons total across all realms.
Yeah I have no doubt you do have 22 toons.
And I have no doubt you buy a ton of gold and don’t fund your 22 alts with herbs and flasks.
It’s not that I have a problem with GDKPS, it’s just that I know exactly the type of player you are, told you what you are doing, and you’re bothered by it.
Do as you please, but acting like you deserve to buy gold because you give blizzard some much money is kind of contradictory
There are people like you who play like you. Personally I don’t understand how you have fun having 9 tabs opened with each alt, boosting thru slave pens, tabbing over to your gdkp run etc just to sit your alts in a city and do nothing. Are you gaming or are you playing slots?
save the whales
It is. But it shouldn’t be. That’s the real problem. The people they should be going after are the bots that generate malicious gold. These are the “people” hurting the economy, not anyone that buys or sells legitimate gold.
No one would have a problem with GDKPs if the gold wasn’t massively inflated by bots.
Generally because only idiots would mail gold to their main account.
2nd account.
AH.
Guild banks.
Easy ways to avoid the ban.
Remember when GDKP pre-quals were 500g?
Gold buying happens because players are stupid and lazy.
It keeps enduring because there are no real consequences for it and Blizzard doesn’t really devote the resources or have the gumption to stamp it out for good.
Because Blizzard is operating under the notion that time out works and people can be shamed enough after being caught whaling that the player will give up the practice.
