Why is Blizz driving away current customers?

I rolled a character on Whitemane. I don’t know how but many of them seem to not have much of a life. There are over 100 people in my guild on this server. Am I supposed to log into to discord and say

“Hey guys, I can’t get in to play even though I see that you are in the game. I’m sure there are more like me. Would you mind pretty please to completely uproot everyone and move to another server so I can play with you?”

How do you think that would go over?

No. Literally selecting a different server is clickable right there on your screen. It takes 20 seconds to re-create your character.

I can understand holding out for Herod the first day or two, as blizzard opened fresh servers, hoping that maybe it will get better. It’s a week into classic and if people are still sitting for 5 hours to play, that’s their problem.

If they think a month from now they will have the best server, sure go for it, but that’s an active choice they are making, and shouldn’t complain about it.

These people can get up and running on a new server right now, but would rather kvetch on the forums like it’s going to change anything.

You’re taking an analogy entirely too literally there, bub. Consider the hassle of the application fee/process and the long drive to the second gym equal to the hassle of rerolling characters over and over again and being forced to leave friends and guildmates behind. Of course, if you dont have friends then i can understand why this is tough to grasp.

I get the need to not have 20 empty servers, but why not let people transfer from high pop to low pop servers that exist right now? There is no downside in doing this.

You reunite guilds and friends while at the same time fixing server balance.

This is the simplest solution, tbh.

Get smarter friends or something? I had a big circle of friends that picked Grobbulus to play on and I dodged that bullet by going to the normal RP server instead. All I hear is them complaining about queues while I’m actually playing the game with some other friends that were smart enough to follow me.

oof someones angry.

I think it might work. Maybe other people from your guild have the same problem but think nobody would want to reroll.

You can reroll another server without abandoning your preferred one. Your friends can do the same.

Wait until the numbers drop off and then go back to your favorite realm. If your friends are choosing their characters over your company, then maybe they’re not worth waiting for.

Exactly this. How can people not be able to play also have 36+ hours of playtime logged by day 7? Either you can get in and level or you can’t. If you can’t, there are servers available. I haven’t seen Herod version of Herky since 8 AM last Tuesday. Turns out this Benediction version of Herky is way better because I can actually play him. Same goes for my irl friends who did the same thing.

I ultimately will choose a less populated server to move this character to. I will say as a paying customer this is horrible service and a terrible business practice. You can white knight for a company and apologize for them all day long but all those non fanboy, rational customers know this is bad service.

Yea, people playing dumb does tend to be pretty obnoxious. But thats your intended aim with these comments, so i suspect you’re pretty happy with the outcome.

Personally though, I’d like to have an actual productive discussion on potential solutions to alleviate these issues with considerations for why ‘just reroll’ hasnt been appealing to folks. The reality of it is, without transfers as an option, many people will simply choose to quit instead. I think thats avoidable.

Screeching “just reroll” is not, and has never been productive. Blizzard has tried that. It hasnt fixed the imbalances. Its time to look for other solutions.

So the entire high-queue playerbase, paying customers, needs to be horribly inconvenienced and herd cats from server to server, because Blizzard is unwilling to expend a modicum of effort to open free transfers in a sensible way until pops equalize?

A lot of folks are frustrated on behalf of friends and guildmates. Once again, I’m unsure why people are having such trouble grasping that relationships in this game are pretty important for a lot of folks.

These fanboys will screech all day long that it can never be blizzard’s fault about anything. It must always be your fault- even though you are paying blizzard for a service and not getting what you expected in return.

Quite a few of us care. Hell, I care and I am not on one of the multi-hour queue servers. It just pisses me off to no extent to see people like you handwaving what many value as community and guild fabric.

Good grief.

Cool I’m sure you’ll have a blast and won’t lose interest after all! See you in-game !

Except the dude above you is switching realm

I don’t mind discussing, my point is that the best thing you can do right now IS rerolling. The more you invest on your character from your full server the more you’ll regret not rerolling before.

Its ironic, because these communities are literally an enormous part of the magic that made vanilla what it was, and what has made bfa feel like a shell of wow’s former self.

How has this guy not been forum banned yet?

Yes, some people will reroll. Others will not. Many will quit entirely instead. This is bad for the game as a whole. I’m not sure how this is complicated for you to understand?

Having to drive 15 miles to another gym is not analogous to clicking a different server from a list on your computer screen, which is then remembered and is the default when you start the game the next time. In your example that gym is still 15 miles out of the way, 30 miles round trip, and you would have to bear that burden each time you want to go.

It’s not as dramatic as you’re making it out to be. And as another poster said, playing on a different server today doesn’t mean people have to delete their Herod toons. They will still be there in the future if you must play on Herod.
