the world isnt designed to hold tens of thousands of players, dynamic respawns even scale down at higher lvl content so that would be chaos
Whether its designed that way or not, the reality is that 3,000 active players per server like we had in Vanilla is not an option.
The community at large is going to have to put on their big boy and big girl pants and adapt.
Look if you can’t handle that 725 million people wanna play this, then maybe you should quit for a while. Who says it’s gonna die down? This could draw in huge numbers for a long time so I’m gonna roll the characters I have on my so-called future dead servers and have fun with it. Everyone thought it would be so funny to see this mass exodus to classic, but nobody’s laughing now. And if they truly die, then I’m sure they’ll merge them with one that’s not dead, so I’m not worried. Everyone thinking they gotta all be on the top server is why a lot of people miss out on truly enjoying the game.
World bosses start in phase 2. Read the content plan. It also spells out layers leaving in phase 2.

where did they promise they’d remove layers in a few weeks? They never promised to remove layers at all, the best they did was say they were ‘committed’ to getting rid of layers by phase 2 and I’d be surprised if we see phase 2 in a ‘few weeks’ .
Actually they did state no layers phase 2.
But they also stated no specific time frame for phase 2 to start…

Yeah and that could be while phase 2 is being deployed as part of that deployment. Of course they’d like to be down to one later before that to not cause issues but phase 2 they are hard disabled. Layers will still be possible through all of phase 1 as they are part of the code to auto scale.

I think the last 5 days perfectly illustrate that they have no idea how this is going to play out. I guess by your logic the playerbase should limit themselves to the 5 highest pop servers you don’t think will be ‘dead’ in a few months.
