classic’s been out for 5 days, and tonight they’re opening 2 more realms after already opening 2 dozen others and raising limits.
people need to quit for a seemless layer removal in a few weeks like promised, but it doesn’t look like that’s happening. every server they add is just another dead server after you all quit, so why are you making them create more dead servers?
will you quit when layers get removed and you get stuck behind a 100k queue and told to reroll on a new server to play? will you quit when they decide layering needs to stick around? why haven’t you quit yet?
My friends and I switched servers 4 times. We rolled on Herod early in name selection then had 5 hour Q times. We kept starting over until we landed on Sulfurous. Longest Q there so far has been 5 min. We are sticking with that realm now for good. The game is awesome. The launch was interesting. So happy to have the game I loved back to the way it should be.
dead is dead relative to whatever makes a vanilla realm dead.
blizzard had all the data and came up with a good estimate for how many people would be playing classic after most people quit in a few weeks and had an appropriate number of servers for that, but because they don’t seem to be quitting yet blizzard is being forced to add more extra servers to hold them, but when they do quit all these extra servers will be dead.
go watch the interview where they introduce layers. layers exist so that servers can hold many times more players than an unlayered realm, and when everyone quits in a few weeks they can remove layers, or phase 2 at the latest.
no, magic isn’t real, but they do have tons and tons of data, so while everyone else was warning we needed more servers, blizzard knew much better how many will be needed
