Why haven't we nerfed fire yet?

Greater pyro is insane but don’t really need it to 80-0 someone in a meteor/fireblast/fireblast w/ combustion up and blaster master traits. Damage is just way too good for everything it brings atm. Don’t mind high damage but the level of casted & instant damage is too high across the board imo.

not enough instant 110 mages have been bought yet, they need to meet a quota before nerfing a spec

Funny how this thread emerges and I said in my thread that complaining doesn’t work anymore. We have made countless threads asking for Fire Mage, Sin rogues, Boomkin and DH nerfs. The Devs on vacation this expansion. When was the last PvP tuning hotfix? Shouldn’t there have been one after Blizzcon?

I would be shocked if Fire Mage gets fixed before next year. That is the super sad part.

I mean you’re right but If nothing else I want everyone playing fire mage to know that I despise them and their spec is beyond busted.

Everyone despises Fire Mage. It is the least skillful busted spec to grace PvP. So what do we do? Has anyone gotten through to the Devs? Are they even watching or paying attention? Where is Lore? Where is a Blue post? Where is our Yak brother to say yes we know Fire is busted and we are looking into ways to fix it on this date?

Yall realize greater pyro is a 4 second cast and you have to stay still to cast it .maybe you should silence stun or attack the fire mage ?

Oh my god, you’re right. It’s amazing how nobody has thought of doing this all season long. What a revolutionary approach to solving the problem of greater pyroblast.

On topic, Original Pyroblast had a Cooldown I think. Maybe greater pyro should have one too. Well, idk if that would solve much but it would prevent the spam.

As saydar has mentioned a few times here and elsewhere, a lot of the problem is the high instant cast damage fire has to follow up greater pyro with. Greater pyro was around for all of legion and not played as much due to fire not being able to finish like it can now.

You realize you can kill someone from 100-0 in a Poly right. Also it’s super easy to get off Gpyro lol when you can shimmer and zip around. However even without Gpyro Fire mage is still doing 70% of someones HP the Gpyro just makes it a one shot.

Watch a 100-0 through wall from only the fire mage in Arena but everything is ok guys lol…

Fire mage dmg needs a flat 10% nerf. Then nerf the master blaster traits. Then remove Gpyro and Shimmer.

Okay I kicked it. Look you’re spamming poly. Oh drats, that got kicked too? Ring of frost. Maybe that somehow gets kicked as well? Greater pyro again, and lo and behold people are running out of ways to stop you from brainlessly deleting people.

Blizz hasn’t given an eff all since Ghost Crawler left. We should have all seen what was coming when his departure came. At least he had the where-with-all to get the hell out, unlike the rest of us.

Considering you just outlined their balancing factor, the fact that they’re MELEE classes. Yeah. That’s normal, and why it’s normal.

There used to be different spellpower coefficients for casted spells versus instant cast spells. I don’t know if it’s still like that. For example, in WOTLK, I have Fire Blast, and Fireball. Lets say the tooltip on fireball is 20 damage, and fire blast is 20 damage. If I got 100 spellpower from equips or buffs, my Fireball would hit for 120 damage, but my fireblast would go up to like 29 or something.

CLEARLY, blizzard gives zero units, and has moved completely away from casted damage. (Greater Pyroblast and Chaos Bolt excluded.) But the casted damage being higher was the opposite of what you’re complaining about. Casters had really high damage they had to cast for. Their weakness being it’s hard to cast when people are all up in your face.

And now, casters largely don’t cast. The main problem with fire mage is that they have no casted dps abilities. You really don’t even need to run greater pyroblast.

You don’t need to greater pyroblast them when a meteor/combust/fireblast/fireblast/pyro/fireblast/pyro can take almost anyone 100-0 in 2-3 seconds without a single spell going off.

Greater pyroblast is not the problem, although nerfing it could be part of one possible solution. In Legion you weren’t able to follow a greater pyro with 3 instants that that would largely hit at the same time and chunk a combined 35-45% of someone’s HP along with the 35% from greater pyro to solo somone at almost any point in the game.

Exactly.

  1. You can blink while casting it and complete the cast.
  2. Polymorph + CC synergy (Think rogue).
  3. Meteor into Pyroblast - you can also prep this while invisble. Imagine if you had a rogue to stun your target in place while you global them. Alternatively, think cyclone into pyro.
  4. In the case of a warrior, they can be rooted for up to 6-7 seconds.
  5. After casting greater pyroblast you can chain other abilities in quick succession.
  6. You cannot ignore a fire mage in Arena. If you do, you will likely die.

Fire mages on their own are not the worst. When combined with Rogue - the cancer becomes exponential.
