Why does no one want to tank?

I prefer San’lyan i love the look of the abilities/sounds but sadly it is really bad. if they ever buff it i’m sure it will become used but in keys its actually about a 22% dps loss is what some in the DK discord were saying and 22% is very huge when it comes to keys.

On top of the usual complaint about verbal abuse from other ppl in the group.

Tanking involves managing the pulls(Most of the time) and leadership. Something a lot of ppl who isn’t too crazy about regarding the latter.

Until Blizz nerfs rewards from solo delves, I have no need to tank for pugs.

Tons of reasons not to tank anymore, at least not in PUGs. The vast majority of them have to do with a toxic player base. I actually enjoy tanking/healing far more than DPS, but people ruin it, so I just play solo. Rep grinding is more fun than pugging with idiots.

There’s lots of tanks but far less decent to good ones. Decent to good tanks find can find friends, guilds, and groups to play with easily. There’s a reason why pug tanks are playing with pugs.

Tanks don’t hold a “leadership” position. lol

I dont tank for pugs much if ever because yall dont pay me enough for the combination of attitudes and expectations.

Doesn’t matter, the group follow where ever they go most of the time.

Which is normal since the tank is supposed to pull and path, that’s part of their job. That’s not “leadership”.

It definitely is.

Leadership, pathing, w/e makes you sleep good at night. People don’t like handling more responsibility outside of making numbers go up.

It is unfortunate when in fact majority of mistakes are on dps and then they blame healz or tanks for it.

Which is why there is more of them and less of us.

It isn’t. If tanks were automatically leaders then explain why raid leads aren’t always tanks.

Many people enjoy tanking, in fact, many guilds have too many tanks. Tanks that are worth their weight don’t have to play with you pugs.

You are correct they don’t on paper, but in practice they do. Usually tanks are raid leaders, officers, expected to know routes and strategies. I agree nothing makes a tank a leader but in practice it is what happens. Not that it is some badge of honor, but how the role works turns you into one or it chases you away.

But it is.

You’re being dense on purpose or trying too hard at being clever and reading way too much into it… w/e floats your boat I guess lol.

Good for them, I’m sure tank shortage in queues will cease to end.

This is a mixed bag with no factual standing.

This is their job.

It won’t. Like I said, tanks worth their weight don’t have to queue or play with you pugs. There’s a reason why pug tanks pug. Good tanks will have a list of competent players wanting to play with them.

It’s the easiest in M+, the only problem is you’re responsible for the route so you have to study which mobs to kill and which to skip. And so because of that there’s a lot of pressure on the tank to know what they’re doing. DPS and heals don’t need to know routes.

If you are expected to know routes, everyone follows the person leading the group making him/her the unspoken leader. Also, I’ve been playing wow since 2004, I got no numbers but my own personal experience, yes tanks are usually raid leaders/officers.

That’s their job. Just like it’s a dps job to know which adds to interrupt. If a dps doesn’t know what to interrupt then they’re a bad dps. A dps player should know kill priority as well. It’s their job. Every role has jobs.

When my wife wants to play, im her tank.

If im solo, im healer or dps.

Im getting too old for this sht.jpg
