High elves kept there old namesake but abandoned or got exiled by there own people. And chose human culture and there mixed families over there nation.
Wheras blood elves stayed and evolved and kept the culture alive and honored there fallen.
Then you got high elves talking about wanting to take silvermoon back as well as void elves.
Lorewise its a political affair. If they do attack Silvermoon probably it will be like how certain countries are attacking other countries rn. Or like the alliance wanting Lordaeron.
Anyways cross faction will be fun to see these sorts of arguements in game lol.
I play both sides (and all races), so there’s never an option I can’t use…
But I like a wide variety in character building options available, and I get a bit grumpy about being told that I should be thrilled with copy paste, because that’s the one thing that’s a waste for me. I already have a blood elf for those options.
I mean, you can talk to eachother in dungeons and Void Elves and Blood Elves can talk to eachother because they can talk to eachother.
But dungeon runners are pretty different from rpers? I guess an rp group could team up and go in a dungeon.
As far as your definition of High Elves… I’m not sure what it has to do with the thread though?
There is a specific definition in game of what a High Elf is… and if someone says, “High Elves want to take over Quel’thalas.” nobody is confused what they’re talking about? (They don’t. I’m just saying… There is an agreed upon definition and people know what you’re talking about when you talk about them.)
The, “Blood Elf” = “High Elf” definition is a personal definition held by people on these forums that doesn’t really mean anything. Like, it doesn’t make sense if you use the present tense with it. It works well with past tense:
Blood Elves were High Elves. (Check.)
But in present tense:
High Elves are going to invade Quel’thalas.
Like… nobody thinks, “Well they already live there? right?”
Because there are actual definitions of these things and people know what you’re talking about.
Nobody reading WoW Chronicles is unable to comprehend it. Nobody seeing Vereesa is like, “Oh, a Blood Elf!”
Nobody in Suramar seeing Silver Covenant Elves are like, “Why are there two groups of blood elves?”
Nobody in BFA sees the portal Master and is like, “What’s a Blood Elf doing here?”
I think blizzard should have just made them like pandarens small quest to pick a side and be done with it. and let’s face it the only real allied races we got were zandalari trolls and Kul Tiran humans. the rest were a straight-up copy-paste and just plain lazy and they had the most limited customizations choices.
Does Alleria still consider herself a high elf? Can one be both a high elf and a void elf?
Characters in Azeroth don’t think in terms of customization options or gameplay choices.
Alleria is a child of Quel’Thalas and a solider of the Alliance. She returned after 1000 years to find most of her surviving kin switched political affiliation. Didn’t change who she is.-Steve Danuser
Agreed, mechagnomes should have been additonal customization option for regular gnome since it’s just a robotic leg and arm. But lightforged are like zandalari they are pretty different than regular draenei since they can be white and have gold runes/tattoos.
I do love that they added the skin tones for them, I hope they focus on character customization this xpac, so odd giving them to us and then neglecting them for so long.
I kinda hope that whenever we get looked at again they add in some NPC interactions in the Telogrus Rift that show them using a new ritual to infuse the void into the wayfarers and scholars as new recruits.
All they need to do is have them come out with randomized options from our whole list of customization options and then we’re all void elves. Whether you’re an Alleria style one or a Umbric style one.
And anyone who wants to rp their high elf still can. So no change for them.
Because the Horde knows the potential of having the Void on your side and they forfeited that when they allowed all the Void Elves to leave the Horde. Naturally they will be upset, imagine having the Void at your disposal. If Void Elves remained on the Horde, it would have tipped the events of BFA in their favor.
Story wise the Horde was winning until the Horde turned on itself.
Anyways, back on topic.
I think the biggest issue is that Alliance players complained to Blizzard until they got multiple customization updates for void elves, while Nightborn players, who play objetively the ugliest race in game, with the least customization options in game, were completely ignored. Both groups of people were vocal on these forums, only Void Elves were given any attention.
Yeah I know but if Horde had the Void at their disposal in BFA, it would be quite interesting to see how the events would turn out with Void Elves on the Horde.
Yes, that is exactly what led to the downfall of the Void Elf race…Shoehorning High Elf trash (customizations) into the Void Elves. Because of this the Void Elves lost their cool, dark, sinister, evil-like feeling that they originally had on release. Giving High Elf customizations within the Void Elf race did make me upset, while it doesn’t really affect me as I am not being forced to alter my character, it does ruin my RP seeing all these High Elf/Blood Elf clones as Void Elves. I wish the Void Elf race wasn’t contaminated with these High Elf customizations instead they should have added a High Elf race to the Alliance and not finger the Void Elves.
