Considering most of the people against accountwide essences are LFR heroes… yeah probably.
It’s how those essences are earned. I would raid/bg/dungeon all day because that is the end-game activity you do with people. That’s how you get gear, corruption and cloak level.
Some people even have to go clear old raid for weeks to get theirs. For me the difference is when i’m raiding or doing pvp or dungeons, It feels like i’m finally playing the game vs doing chores and filling spreadsheets. And for people playing alts, sometimes after having filled their spreadsheets many time, they want to go back to having fun as soon as possible because… it’s fun.
And some people just need change in their experience of this fun. (aka playing different class/spec/roles)
Okay. But what you’re basically doing is saying that you don’t have fun getting some BiS item from doing some specific thing. Tusks are BiS ST weapons for DH (outside of corruption effects), but someone complaining they don’t want to do M+ (a PvE feature) to get some BiS item has just as much validity as you do when you don’t want to do some other PvE feature.
What if the person doesn’t want to do visions? What about people who don’t like dealing with AP? Do they also have the same leg to stand on as cloak and neck are dependant on that?
That’s my point. You are trying to rationalize how essences are different enough to be deserved to be account wide, but your reasons fall flat and are nothing more that, “I don’t like doing this repeat content so get rid of it.”
If I raided, I’d be pretty mad about job-loss.
My 60 classic character is stronger than your 37 main.
Checkmate
You got me there
Would you people stop with the ridiculous comparison of account-wide essences and gear progression? They are not the same thing.
And account-wide essences affect you how? The work was already done on one character, and 8.2 is old content. No reason for people to have to do old content a million times to be able to do 8.3 end game stuff without being a hindrance to your group.
But M+ atleast is an end-game feature that can be challenging and rewarding.
Redoing reputation grinds, follower xp, dailies, isn’t challenging for the time it takes and the reward it gives. It’s not proportional. And some specs have different requirements, some might be easier, some only have reps, some a mix of dailies, some have an old raid to clear. And this for a few weeks before seeing your true potential.
This could take all your available play-time when all you want was to do a raid or a bg or a dungeon, get some loot and be done with it. By the time i’ll be done with my rank 3 essences on alt, we’ll be half-way through Shadowlands.
Yes i’m picking some specific part of grind that are more annoying than others, but to me its not comparable to instanced end-game fun you can have with friends instead of catching-up alone in the wild just because you wanted to tank a dungeon for your friends, or heal a raid since your raid healer left and you have a max healer ready without no essences. You just know you aren’t at your best.
No, but they are both methods of character specific progression. The question is if earning progression on one character should earn it on all (which has very rarely happened) or if it should just make it far easier to earn on alts (which has been done before)
You don’t need rank 3 essences to do lfr. Get the easy essences, level them up as you work your way up the raids.
Stop begging and whining. It’s beneath you.
I doubt most players have a max geared healer alt that didn’t level up their essences.
If you’re thinking of this in terms of normal raids - you don’t need rank 3 essences.
I’ll tell you what - I’ll play a brand new character and you play a brand new character and I guarantee I’ll get my 4 BiS at level 3 before you get BiS gear.
But why even give Catch-up on other things like gear? You have your boa token you can send, you have 410ilvl gear you can send, you have war ressources for your alts. It’s un-even, it’s like they left essence out of the catch-up and gave it a minimal time reduction for the rep ones. You can have alts at 450ilvl that haven’t even begun their essence grind because of the catch-up that is so un-even.
Exalted to revered is “minimal?” Try cut in half.
Because i won’t even bother farming another round of essences obviously.
See this leather gear? I already got it on my DH. If I level a rogue shouldn’t I already have all this gear? Why do I need do any of this content again?
You don’t have to. You’re getting BiS gear. Don’t worry about essences. Do you have max 3 essences on your main? How many pieces of BiS gear does that toon have? I’ll tel you how many pieces of BiS gear I have on this guy - 3. And 2 of them are the neck and cloak.
Well you already unlocked the transmog so your rogue can look just as cool as your DH now.
But gear is the name of the game, we are all here chasing gear. Essence is not gear. It’s a passive talent at best.
Yes and arena rating should be account based. Getting 2000 on 40 toons is so boring…
AOTC should be account wide. Raiding is so boring on all my alts!!!
We’re here chasing power. Not gear. Because I’m currently chasing corruption effects more than gear.
Yep. That’s the ridiculous hoop in logic these guys are jumping through. Their reasons are not more valid for their complaint versus any of the examples you listed. Haha.
