The tank sets the pace since they do it the way they feel more comfortable not to please the DPS that just need to hit their keyboard with their head the entire run. And this is coming from someone that plays all 3 roles and hates tanking.
A tank needs to know the dungeon and every mechanic better than anyone else in the group. They are the first in line to play responsibly. They need to adjust the pace based on the dps AND the healer. Just because a healer is geared enough doesnt mean they are capable of playing at a high enough level to actually heal what should be possible. The tank sets the pace. He was, what, lvl 40ish? He has a lot to learn but sounds like he has the basics down. Don’t be a toxic DPS.
the tank is the one tanking, if you don’t like how he plays his character you’re free to roll a tank yourself. otherwise let him play his game and you play yours and keep your unnecessary opinions to yourself. it’s not ego if I as a tank don’t give a fk about some rando telling me how i should play
Dps are children in the back seat crying for Mcdonalds. As the dad its my job to say no, we have food at home.
As a tank i have to watch pulls, manage dps mana and healer mana. If the mage goes oom every pull, im not pulling more because then we have harry potter in the back flipping his green wand doing less dps than my cast off. If the dps wont hold their load in for 3 seconds so i can generate threat, not aggro, threat. Learn the difference, then im not gonna pull more. If the healer keeps going OOM healing everyone because the above reasons im not gonna pull more.
Tanks set the pace because when it goes wrong its always our fault, even if you didnt manage threat, or CC, or the mage didnt sheep the caster hiding in the back. Tanks have to do everything for every one. When we just want to go fast and kill like everyone else, but we cant. We have to be aware of every pull, mob, pat, mana bar, health bar and on top of that deal with DPS crying about pace.
you know, last time i checked, you can’t force anyone to play the game the way you want. maybe someone isn’t comfortable pulling 8 million mobs, there’s a whole myriad of reasons someone plays the way they do. YOU don’t get to dictate how other people in the group play. sure, you could be the leader but then you’re the diva kicking everyone who doesn’t conform to YOUR idea of proper play. anyone who extensively cares about how other people play a video game need to go outside and touch grass. pathetic.
i know this is a strange concept to you but just because you ask someone a question they don’t owe you any kind of explanation. you reek of the entitlement you claim tanks have. projection is insane here
Hush now, the internet told the masses of scrubs that paladin was the WotLK hotness so the servers are now flooded with rerolls. Don’t tell them about how prot warriors are fun or they might reroll to that after realizing nobody needs their retnoob asses (since they won’t heal “cauz it’s boring” and won’t tank because their guild already has their main tanks selected).
“Hey tank! That last pull your threat generation was fire. The way you managed the mobs made me wish I was recording to show in a master tanking class. I bet with your skill and our DPS we could clear a pack or 10 or more. I am willing if you are willing. We follow your lead!”
Great advice. You can also try to goad them into pulling more by saying “man, that was really easy to heal, I bet you could pull way more if you wanted”
But at the end of the day he’s gonna play it the way that’s most comfortable for him.
All I learned from this thread is that trash players go tank because for whatever reason you become magically immune to criticism by putting on a shield and pressing a 3 button rotation, got it.
