thats because you do. I don’t know what words you used to call him out but whatever it was seemed to piss him off. Pro tip: when you wanna get someone to move out of their comfort zone its best to use polite or encouraging words.
It be a tank thang
I didn’t insult the guy, by calling out I mean I literally asked him why he was going single pack at a time.
If he said he was new to the game i’d understand but he instantly got insecure and started to powertrip and no a tank does not dictate how fast or slow a group goes, the group does.
Every single person in the group called him out and eventually left because no one wants to deal with a power tripping tank in low level dungeons.
one does not need to lob insults in order to be insulting. if you guys were clearing the place at a good pace then you should have been satisfied with it. Just think to your self: whats gonna take more time? finding a new tank or letting the current one do his thing? In most cases it gonna be the former rather then the latter.
There’s a 50% XP buff and tons of people leveling toons, I would rather not be held hostage by a bad tank when I can go find another group or go quest and get the same amount of XP.
Plus like I said if he said he was new to the game, I wouldn’t mind but he didn’t say anything he just said he’s the tank and he’ll go at whatever speed he wants which prompted other people to chime in and ultimately leave the party once they realized the tank is not receptive to anyone but his own thoughts.
This was a great novel, I look forward to the second book in the series…"why is melee DPS so aggressive.
Dude you were in the wrong and you need to accept that. Just take the L and learn from it. become a better person.
Because we’re better than you and we know it.
JK…kinda
Maybe you should go back to retail where everyone speed runs everything.
I have a new tank in my little group of 3 and we just started SM this week. He is still learning the pulls and how to effectively tank. One of our last runs he was pulling 4-5 mobs which to me is sufficient as his skill level yet one of the people we had picked up complained the entire time and was pulling extras almost causing the group to wipe a couple times.
I’m always the group lead and at least waited until the run was finished before booting this guy. If a 12 minute SM run is not fast enough for you then find another group.
That same tank is now pulling 8-10 mobs and is much more settled in after just a few runs. People really need to take.into account not everybody that plays has a decade of experience under their belt.
I tanked mained from Cata thru SL. Played hunter in classic, and then picked tanking back up in TBC.
I’ve tanked very high level M+, mythic raids, and some classic speedruns.
During my time, I’ve gotten to deal with a lot of different people and personalities. I’m definitely guilty of being stubborn sometimes, but maybe I can help bridge the gap.
First and foremost, a huge percentage of WoW players are terrible at communicating. They may have expectations for how things should be done, but somehow manage to come up as snarky or rude. This was more the case in M+ keys where certain DPS were accustomed to particular pulls or a pace, and just expected that I should know or be doing that. Rather than actually communicate beforehand, it becomes a pissing contest during the run.
DPS players play like idiots a ton of the time. Some of them are self aware and adjust, but others expect to be able to roll their faces across the keyboard and the tank should accommodate for that. Even if you can’t or want to punish them for being difficult, there is pride involved in being able to manage threat and this is increased stress.
In addition, as a tank - even in meme WotLK pre patch, I have to give 100% of my attention. I can’t watch netflix or youtube, or play one handed while I jerk off. I actually have to pay attention or the run is sloppy.
All of these things add up to what creates tank ego / stubbornness. Is it all or always warranted? Of course not, but do the role for any extended period of time and it shows you how difficult people can be. A tank has to manage people, a DPS USUALLY only has to manage themselves and a lot of the time they can’t even do that.
The same reason plumbers have big egos. It’s a job nearly anyone can do with proper training, yet not many people want to do it. This drives up demand. Anything in demand leads to ego building. They “need” me.
Objectively wrong. Tanks are rare enough that you can think that, and the tank might even go along with it. But ultimately, they can tell you to pound sand at any given moment, form another group in minutes, and leave you mewling in lfg for another tank. Odds are good, they’ll finish the run before you find another tank.
I just let these people pull and die. If they don’t get the hint after that, kick.
This isn’t a retail M+ run.
To OP: The funny part is, this isn’t the first time I’ve responded to a post made by you on the forums with “You’re 100% what’s wrong with WoW right now.”
The tank might have been geared, but they are allowed to pull what they feel comfortable with. Just because you don’t like that, doesn’t give you the freedom to blast the guy in party, or indeed, here on the forums.
You’re beyond toxic, and everything that is wrong with Classic.
I would go slow just to screw with you, comfortable in the knowledge that I will instantly get another group if you kick me or leave, while you are a dps
Every bone in my body tells me you didn’t ask nice, or “discuss” at all.
first time?
Can’t believe people are siding with the tank here. It’s a group activity, and one that barely needs a tank at that. No, you do not need to bow to control freak tanks.
we have to play by his rules/etc.
You could literally just do SM without him and be fine. This is silly.
you started a issue where there was no issue.
The pace was clearly an issue for the majority of the group.
AS HOR Cons HS oh look im already over 4 buttons and I haven’t even finished the rotation. I have mained a pally since org tbc and can say for a fact in wrath, which we are in it is not a 3 button spec.
We’re talking about level 30 my guy. It doesn’t matter if it isn’t literally 3 buttons, it’s still not remotely difficult.
they are allowed to pull what they feel comfortable with. Just because you don’t like that, doesn’t give you the freedom to blast the guy in party
Wahhh someone criticized me in a video game. Grow up! Primadonna tanks drive me crazy!
Being a tank does in fact make you special, there are literally none of them. That’s why you see people spamming to tip them for tanking their dungeons, or giving up all greens/blues for tanking. The difference is that if the tank leaves they will find a group instantly, while you will be spamming for one for awhile. Tanks make the rules in dungeons and everyone else just has to live with it.
You could literally just do SM without him and be fine
Then why not kick the tank and pull as much as you like?
The pace was clearly an issue for the majority of the group.
Too bad they aren’t the ones tanking, then they could have set the pace!
Wahhh someone criticized me in a video game. Grow up! Primadonna tanks drive me crazy!
Now you’re just being toxic. Tanks have always taken the lead in dungeons because it just makes sense for them to.
