If the tank is unneeded why do you have to rub it in his face? Pull more and kill it on your own, his ego protects his known limitation.
This is either a Bloomsday level troll or you need to log out for while.
Yeah and you communicated why which makes you a good tank in that aspect, the tank OP had however wasn’t. He didn’t say why he just said that he sets the pace because he’s the tank which comes off as arrogant.
The replies in this thread prove that coddling tanks creates horrible tank egos to the point where they feel like they get away with anything.
The entire party of 4 agreed with me and called him out and left when I left.
When everyone you’re playing with is telling you that you’re wrong maybe you should look at your skills and improve rather than trying to double down and losing your entire party.
But with people like you who constantly spoon feed them and baby tanks around like they’re small incapable children, they will never learn and only think they’re right.
You said tanks are boring to play earlier?
I have a huge Eggo.
And yes, I mean the frozen waffle breakfast food.
totally agree that such a behaviour would seem arrogant.
im biased, because im a tank player, and getting the whole story oftentimes is not that easy.
Sometimes stuff is also not easy to solve, or has no real solution. like the skip vs. no skip topic.
I mean what is “to slow” when it comes to tanking?
Everything below what is theoretically possible?
And how much explaining is required to be given by a tank, in a case where there a differing opinions?
At the end of the day, a “Tank” sets the pace. And if a dps sets the pace, and kills the mobs with heavy aoe and cc, the dps then becomes the “Tank”
Also it is generally not helpful to any topic if someone insists on throwing in insulting stuff, like 3 button class or statements like
tank players act like they’re some sort of god’s gift to parties when in reality they’re only wanted due to a massive shortage because of how boring they are to play.
well if i read stuff like that, im just mind blown.
I love tanks who literally can see that us casters
are dying of thirst and wait.
Those are the tanks I love because they care lol.
These days, feels like Pallys don’t care about us and just run
into a pack and never stop.
You use to be drunks like us dammit lol!
You should really get down from your high horse, and maybe eat it. You’re not you when you’re hungry.
Seriously even as a very dedicated tank player i would agree that there are existing issues, but your way of speech is just making it really hard to even get a shred of sympathy for your case.
You are rude and generalize in a toxic way.
Funny, i had a healer last time that was complaining about how i only cared about the mages mana, and ignored his mana
… which was true tbh. we needed the mages dps, but i did not need the healers heal. prepatch made that happen
Yeah, I agree 100% with you.
FYI A Wrath Prot Pally in SM will be OOM every few pulls. By that level you only have Blessing of Sanctuary and Seal of Wisdom for mana regen. Sanctuary isn’t going to proc much because gear at that level has no avoidance and you might not even have Holy Shield yet. Seal of Wisdom is a threat tradeoff. You also have no Spiritual Attunement, and certainly no Divine Plea, which Wrath paladins are balanced around having 100% uptime on.
Too big a pull and you’re OOM, meaning threat generation dies on the now too big pull and stuff starts getting away from you. Until they have Holy Shield and Spiritual Attunement, they are barely better than a Vanilla Pally. They are the inverse of a Warrior, who benefits from bigger pulls as long as they have the heals to keep them up. It’s usually not a huge problem, but then you get trashed for being a bad tank that can’t hold aggro or being too slow because you have to sit and drink. There’s really no winning at that level if you have an impatient group.
Now, they absolutely shouldn’t have whispered you and called you a bad DPS, but maybe consider why they would set such a slow pace? Logically, they want to get through the content as quickly as possible as well, just like you do. You should consider why they would make such a decision to intentionally go slower, as there is likely a reason they would do so. Instead of assuming bad behavior, assume positive intent. It’s generally more productive in both WoW and in life.
My main in Wrath was a Prot Pally and I cut my teeth on leveling 15-80 in the then-new dungeon finder filled with toxic pugs as a tank because it was the fastest way to level the toon. The class is an absolute mess until at least level 40, which is at the high end for SM, and it’s still janky until you get Touched by the Light at 50 and Divine Plea in Northrend.
This whole story is fake. Thia only happens with rdf.
You are correct on every point here. I hate when other players start assuming things about your class.
No matter how good the gear is, a Prot Pally before level 40 is a pure janky mess and large pulls are a 50/50 shot you lose aggro on the pack due to OOM. Especially with a heavy AoE group.
A lot of wal mart esque employees pick tanks to be the boss. They get pushed around irl and want to be the boss of others.
Not all tanks are like this, but nearly every big ego tank I’ve known picked it because they were a peon at work.
And how many tanks do you have? And how long have you been tanking? I would love to hear how the tank was “wrong” from your vast tanking knowledge and experience.
0/10 troll attempt
Exactly why it’s a troll.
You felt attacked by his opinion and instead of using logic and a clear mind you instantly attempted to discredit them by attempting to admit some form of fault.
I have a 70 prot pally, I do SWP and at SM level prot literally has 2 - 3 buttons to maintain and the dude was overgeared for SM.
The whole party was overgeared.
When I initially called out the tank I wasn’t even toxic about it, I literally asked him why he was doing single pulls instead of multiple and he went off on me about how he runs the group since he’s the tank.
The healer and the other DPS also made a comment right after me about how slow the run is going and they were also telling the pally to pull bigger.
When I left the group, so did the other people in the party and they whispered me backing up what I said while the tank managed to whisper me and look like an actual man child.
What I don’t understand as an actual tank main is why people coddle horrible tank players, not everyone who plays a tank is some sort of inept child that needs to have their hand held. There is a shortage of them, yes but that is because tank is quite frankly one of the most boring positions to play in a PvE environment.
If the tank in question had said he wanted to go slow and he’s new, that’s fine I would’ve still left the party as that’s not my preferred speed but he went off on power tripped over a simple comment.
The replies on this thread only go to prove that bad players will support other bad players, their egos can’t handle criticism and they would much rather see the group die and fail than actually look at their own gameplay and improve.
Had a tank in sethekk halls. Pulling without checking group mana, random afks to check on their kid apparently.
Pulls the last pull before ikiss after being feared by the previous group. He doesn’t check if it’s dead or if we are dead or have mana. So it’s a wipe.
We point out, hey you should pay attention to x y z. Guy flips out and and leaves.
It’s a Walmart peon complex
The funniest part is that the most liked comments on this thread are people typing out essays about how playing a tank magically absolves you of being a terrible player and how it’s always everyone else’s fault and never the tank.
They get spammed with likes from other insecure players and they suddenly think they’re right.
Part of what makes Classic WoW not fun is this community, it seems a lot of the people giving their opinions have zero experience in any high level content but will gladly double down on their ignorance because you called them out on their bad gameplay.
