The 5-10 mins you wait to find your tank, you might talk to your other grp mate so they do leave.
You will auto invite / avoid certain players because of a past grp, all that crap is interaction.
With RFD, it’s the whole CoD effect. You login, pick what you wanna do, click a button and tadah, 3 mins after you log in, you are in a full grp killing crap. It’s very effective, don’t get me wrong but defeat whole purpose of an MMO.
These are people that essentially hate the game before level 80 and previously leveled up via buying Mage boosts. Now Blizzard has broken that they want LFD.
This is exactly what happens when I queue up using the LFG tool. I list myself as healer for several heroic dungeons, get invited in less than a minute with no talk or whispers beforehand, I get summoned straight to the dungeon, say Ty and hello and then 90%+ of my groups just stay silent the entire run and drop a gg Ty when we finish.
I have been very pro rdf, but honestly the LFG tool for me is the exact same experience I would have had with rdf. I get instant invites with no whispers beforehand, I get summoned straight to dungeon, vast majority of my groups don’t even respond when I try to initiate conversation during the run, and my server is big enough that there is a good chance I’ll never see any of these players ever again.
Can somebody please remind me why rdf was removed again? And then tell me how my experience is different with the LFG tool is any different than rdf?
The “purpose” of an MMO is to do exactly what you described. You pick a thing you want to do and you go do it. How you go about doing that thing is up to you.
As far as RDF and LFG, at current content, I haven’t had any issues finding a group as a DPS. However, I do think leveling an alt would offer challenges and I would rather just dungeon cleave my way through. Honestly, it’s just a more fun and engaging experience for me especially in how it would be in classic WoW. Starting with the initial 10-15 dungeons and working my way up through the different tiers. I used to enjoy that grind. Not really feasible with the current system.
They have a better tool already available that i can click a few times and bam, I’m in an instance. Having to use the dollar store version of RDF just because some WoW boomers don’t like progress is dumb. I don’t use it because I don’t like it and I don’t want Blizzard interpreting my use as approval.
LFG is a popularity contest if you arent a tank or a healer, even though your skill level as a tank or healer will eventually affect your ability for running in LFG. LFG is a toxic gatekeepers paradise and after the first couple of weeks tanks began only choosing those names they recognized that they had run with successfully before. several tanks on the forums have admitted to writing down names to choose for future runs.
LFG has NO guarantee of a run for anyone. RDF GUARANTEES EVERYONE gets a run.
thats cool to disagree, curious though, when did you see those times? my experience comes from original wrath through a little bit of wod, and since then private options with rdf… and to be honest, tank or dps or heals, ive never waited more than 15 minutes top on any of the servers except for wod… but then i think people were slowing down on the use of rdf.
Without RDF there isn’t much incentive to level a healer, questing is atrocious as a healer and there’s nobody in LFG for vanilla dungeons. So, you’re never gonna level as disc/holy/resto, you’re always gonna pick Balance/Feral/Ret/Enh/Shadow whatever your dps spec is.
We didn’t have RDF in OG wrath, we had RDF in one patch of the expansion . Granted it’s what we are playing - the point is RDF not being there at launch. Which it isn’t. Which is good.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they put RDF in when ICC comes out, like originally done.
