Why do so many people dislike skyriding / dragonriding?

There is one bonus to the disc mounts. They’re a lot smaller than the others. I’ve dropped several seconds off my race times.

I don’t dislike Skyriding.

I dislike:

  • the cast time switching from Skyriding to Steady Flying
  • that Steady Flying is locked in TWW and Skyriding isn’t (because of those who are unable to use Skyriding due to disability)

That’s about it.

People don’t like change. But I’ve grown accustomed to it in this game. I didn’t like it when vanilla changed to TBC, and so forth. Now I welcome changes because I treat each expansion as a new game.

Dragon riding was a giant leap forward. If it were up to me I would get rid of the old way of flying completely.

It’s just people who don’t like change.

disabled vet i really dont have the same level of control i enjoy as a druid in my swiftflight form with normal flying if i need to stop a moment ill hover. if i want to gather i can get what i need without worry of over or undershooting my target. slow and steady is better than fast and oh i hit a tree and now i have to land to regain energy to move again

Flying is for AFKing, not for doing QTEs. Not to mention its literally unplayable for anyone that gets motion sick or has vertigo issues.

Flying into Blackrock Mountain is dangerous.

I agree whole heartedly
an unnecessary change for the sake of change
that only detracts from the game experience

screwing around with flight is just annoying
I have not forgiven them for taking away my hard earned (the old way) druid flight form

they change too much just for the sake of change

Flying into the sky ceiling is dangerous too.

Haven’t tried it yet but it seems like it requires a lot of user input instead of the “point your mount thattaway” I’m used to. I’ve got RA in my hands and it sounds painful - I’m already having to leave my beloved PVP behind because of that.

I remember when mob scaling was added only to the latest expansion content and then retroactively applied to the entire game world later on.

I also remember when they introduced the new character models with a toggle for old and new character models to keep everyone happy. They later removed that toggle, claiming it was a hassle to maintain the old type anymore.

I’m not arguing over mob scaling or character models here, only stating that it wouldn’t be very surprising if traditional (TBC) flying gamewide was likewise eliminated somewhere down the line regardless of any accessibility issues involved with TWW being the transition period. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen.

I’m honestly not sure myself since people always complained about hating the Pathfinder achievement and feeling like it was a chore to unlock since you were not able to get the achievement until near the end of the expansion. As such, they made an expansion with a new form of flying that was… well… not so subtly copied from Guild Wars 2, but you know what? Creativity is built off of imitation.

And best of all, you get it immediately once you get through the opening questline of the Waking Shores. And if you were a Dracythr, you got a version of it right away… albeit with a heavy cool-down until you properly unlocked Dragonriding. But still, I don’t get it either. I assume many people don’t like the five-second cool-down to switch between flights. Or the fact that TBC flying is still being locked away despite Dragon Riding being made available immediately.

For me? Eh, I don’t mind. I prefer Dragon Riding, so I see this update as a win because now I can enjoy some of my other mounts, like Ashes and Divine Tear, with that incredible speed. But I understand it’s not for everyone, and TBC flying has its pros against Dragon Riding, especially when you need more precise movement.

I think TBC normal flying is here to stay. This is because there was a community up swelling of support for it during the DF beta.

Can’t when TWW goes live…Steady flight aka normal flight is getting locked behind a Pathfinder that has to be done if you want Steady flight aka normal flight…disabled folks either have to hurt themselves using Dragon flying or hoof it on ground mounts…all while others fly over their heads happy as bugs…

Absolutely no use for steady flight if you can’t set mounts separately. I’ll just stay on Dragonflight and I’ll get path nonsense whenever I get it. One less thing to grind, I guess.

I call bu// on your thinking it just one or two folks …it now turning into tons of players …see most players don’t use the forums until something hits them like a Mack Truck…

Only one person in our guild of 20 odd people can’t use the dragon properly, they hitch a ride when needed everyone else dragon flies 95% of the time.

i for one want my druid flight form to fly normaly and my other mounts to dragon ride would be huge if i could just manualy change specific mounts to dragonride/sky ride there are many times where i dont want to auto fly around and just hover in place and look around or manuver more flexably to look for stuff having to cast the button to change flight style every time i want to do that is just trash

Welcome to my world, I can understand all too well your issues…I have had two strokes…my left arm just goes dead and useless much of the day if I try to play…dragon flying adds issues to that now…and no I can’t buy one of those gaming mice…my hands are tiny as I am a women…not a man with huge hands…
