This discussion pops up periodically all the time im not going to go pull up every example because you want to deny the existence of something everyone knows is a subject thats been beaten like a dead horse.
All the classic+ class rebalance threads are essentially the evolution of those meme spec complaining threads, people know the specs are bad in pve content and the communities feelings about them at large hasnât changed much so instead of crying about it they are trying to petition blizzard to rebalance them in som2 or classic+
So we went from threads all the time, to no threads at all âbecause people accepted itâ to now threads periodically and roping all Classic+ threads into this.
Tell you what, ill just give you some time to figure out where you wanna put that goalpost down at and you can let me know when youre ready.

A thread popping up on the forums or reddit every other month or so is âall the timeâ in my book.
Your entire argument now is about the semantics of how frequent these threads everyone has seen multiple times happen, just stop
The fact that pretty much anyone thats played this game for a decent amount of time can instantly identify what specs youâre talking about when people say âmeme specâ says it all.

My original point still stands. Being able to clear the DPS benchmarks for Patchwerk makes a spec viable. Period.

The fun thing about memes is that thet become obsolete sometimes. Classic has taught us that back then in Vanilla, none of us had even really scratched the surface of what was possible in Vanilla.

Viable is all you need. Anything beyond that is personal preference.
True, and for the majority of the community their preference is to not carry builds that can barely meet the minimum requirements, they would rather pick builds that exceed them in order to allow wiggle room for mistakes and bad RNG

Because its the truth. Only the speedrunners have the arrogance to think they speak for everyone. Even i said âmostâ. Speedrunning is not a large niche. It is a small one.
If it was the norm, it wouldnt be called speedrunning. It would be called raiding. Parsing woulsnt be called parsing. Itd just be called DPSing.
Our language isnt huge on creating multiple terms for identical things. Terms supplant one another rather than coexist.

My Horde raid team and an Alliance buddyâs raid team in classic took multiple âmeme specsâ from Lucifron to KT. Everything died just fine. Not one person cried that there were evil icky memespecs in the raid.
You can compose your raids as you see fit. But what you cant do is proclaim yourself the majority despite being part of an insular niche group and declare you speak for everyone else, everywhere, forever.

9500 raid DPS is all thats needed for the highest DPS check in the game. Divided by 40 people thats a whopping 237 DPS per person. For 7 minutes.
Every DPS spec and most healers can clear that. And thats all it takes to kill Patchwerk.
