I disagree, just looking at the clips a bunch of the HC player base just runs around with a rested XP addon telling them where to run and what mobs to right-click or play the safest classes like hunter, mage and rogue. The fact that most likely two thirds of the HC playerbase will be playing alliance (because paladins blessings trivialize the game even further) is proof that not even HC is exempt of the modern player’s way of doing things.
HC is great for the people who love being eternally stuck in the leveling phase, that’s basically it.
Define viable. The min max teams want the best not just viable. In my experience the meme specs want to compete with the top dps which is dumb because pure dps specs wouldn’t be needed if the hybrid classes could do everything.
There is zero chance you can get by on ele shaman just drink walking between pulls and still be competing with mages and warlocks at the same time
Sure ele shaman could out dps a warlock in a 1 min long fight, but anything past that and you’re dropping off hard unless you’re gonna waste hundreds of gold on distilled manas, (which then removes your spellpower flask) just to barely keep up.
You’re arguing with objective facts, ele shaman is not worth bringing to a raid over another caster in a dps slot assuming they have equal gear. The only time you might do that is to have the eles pump on a few particular bosses but then they would be chain heal bots for the rest of the raid
Ele shaman is gonna be useless on a fight like saph or KT, you would be oom halfway through the fight, or would be downranking and doing pitiful dps
Kinda funny then how i mained warlock up to bwl, was top 300 world, but still switched to ele come AQ and naxx because it was just higher dps across the board, specially in complete raids. Did almost exclusively speedruns (so mostly just drinkwalk) and never drank a destilled mana.
You are ignorant. I advice you to read this comment to educate yourself. This also goes to whoever wants to spew more nonsense. Go learn about ele before posting false claims. I’m providing all the info you need.
You’re also completely glancing over the fact that ele shaman is only able to compete in this way if the entire raid is doing sweaty speed clear strats, anything other than optimal speed on bosses and you’re just a warlock without curses and finite mana, you would be the 1 token meme spec in a raid of meta pumpers
Being the perfect example of the selfish meme spec player
Let me get this straight. You are saying that ele shaman can compete if the raid and the people he is competing against are really good. But if the raid and those people are bad, they cant compete?? Some logic that is. Easy to compete with good players but hard to compete with bad players lmao.
Despite that horrendously flawed logic. It is true that a bad ele will not perform as well as a bad warlock or a bad mage, because those 1 button classes are much easier to play and dont punish gameplay mistakes as hard. So yes, if a no WB casual raid full of casual people has an ele shaman, he most likely will underperform. But if its a casual raid who the hell cares. This does NOT make ele shaman a memespec, because a good ele in a good raid will compete, and when we talk about meta, by definition we dont care about the avarage casual.
They aren’t competing, they’re doing vastly less damage. A good raid is allowing one of their members to goof around, he’s not competing with anyone. But if you’re not in an elite raid the deficiencies become even more obvious. Sorry you can’t understand the difference.
It’s the same reason people can’t understand that to get top warrior parses you need to be in a top guild with many other people doing high parses. Because those top parses come from having high death wish uptime relative to the boss kill time. The higher percentage of the time you’re in death wish and/or recklessness etc. the higher the average dps output. This is a major reason any guild that isn’t completely casual doesn’t allow it if they’re smart, because the players who carry the raid will get dissatisfied and leave eventually for more efficient raiding when they start wiping in AQ40, have to stay up late on horrible raids that don’t finish constantly, have to spend 3x the time farming consumes because every wipe = more consumes, and can’t ever break into a high parse.
You can goof around with a bunch of memers in a casual guild in MC/BWL. It falls apart in casual, semi-casual, semi-hardcore guilds in AQ40 and naxx. People can claim classic is loosely tuned, and its true to some extent relative to mythic raiding, but I’ve seen it happen many times. AQ40 and naxx are not kind to casual guilds. If you’re a well-established elite guild you can do whatever because the player skill and preparation is way higher. Those people show up with world buffs, use every consume, and there’s built in personal trust. Your average memer is a bad/selfish player on top of having a bad spec. Not universal, some people are fine players they just like to pvp and the guild allows it, but they’re never remotely close to the top of the DPS charts.
Lets see an ele shaman compete with a warlock on KT, you’ll be oom before phase 2 even starts, or, you’ll be sitting around doing nothing to save mana for phase 2
Get a mana detonation? Rip what little mana you have to work with
i did 1081 dps on KT. That was more than every single warlock in the world at the time (even alliance ones). A warlock doing that same dps at the time would’ve literally parsed a 100.
btw i don’t know if you knew this but phase 1 is time gated, and downranked LBs are more than enough to keep up with it. I would start phase 2 with above 95% mana every single time.
Top shaman parse on KT is enhancement (not elemental) and did 680 DPS.
Top warlock is at 1184 DPS.
This is on classic era, which has world buffs + buff/debuff limits. This is the worst possible ruleset for warlocks. They only get better when debuff limit and world buffs are removed from the equation.
so theres literally 1 occasion in era ever in which a warlock did more dps than me on KT. And he needed to gimp another dps slot for a spriest anyways (and technically another one to have CoS up)… nice
You tell me what does more dps, 2 warriors and an ele shaman, or 2 warlocks and a spriest.
