Gonna play pve server. When im up for pvp i can /pvp or queue for bg. When im not i dont have to. Playing on a 2:1 on the down side of a pvp private server has left with never wanting to do that again. Sure you get some cool duels and what not but its 9 times out of 10 not fair or close in any way.
People like what they like and hate what they hate. There’s nothing bizarre about it.
You do realize that you have the option to turn on your PvP flag right? A PvP server forces you to turn on the flag outside the first zones. The only difference is you don’t have to get camped by a 60 when you are just trying to quest.
its almost as if different people like different things…
Why would i be smiling if i can’t camp the nesingwary quest hub.
Because on the way there, you’re low level, not doing the ganking.
I’m like a wolverine. I attack 60s at level 35 knowing im going to die just to disrespect them.
I don’t enjoy getting ganked, it actually triggers my anxiety disorder (I’m the reverse of an adrenaline junky, I absolutely hate that feeling), and the only people I’d actually want to gank are streamers lol but I’m not gonna put myself through a PvP server just on the off chance I might get to kill some streamer I dislike.
Therefore, PvP adds nothing to my experience but a pain in the rear. BGs suit me just fine if I want some real PvP, world pvp has almost always been lame to me (less than five instances in 3 years of playing on a pvp server that were actually fun, and the most I can remember of those was one big fight at Tarren Mill). Yet I remember dozens of stupid situations that just wasted my time.
Here’s a more typical scenario. First, you get double teamed and you have zero chance. Then you get a friend around the same level, you’re psyched, it’s on, then just one of them dies while they still kill both of you and they still hearth like rats because they are no longer dominating and/or will risk nothing. It’s !@#$ gameplay imo, those kinds of players just suck the life out of the game. If you’re gonna gank me, don’t run from me when I even the odds a bit.
That was my most typical experience, pure wastes of time. I’ve rarely ever been camped, and I still find people to just generally play like scumbags in WPvP. The instant they hit any resistance from you they bolt, so you never get remotely fair or fun fights. We’d have gladly 2v2d those guys for a bit, dying or not, but it apparently wasn’t fun for them once one of them died a single time. Plus I find PvP servers to have the most overly competitive and hence worst communities too.
Your mileage may vary, of course. It simply is not for me, and I wish I had the time I spent on PvP servers back, stupid friends and their insistence I roll on their damned PvP server.
If you want non-pvpers to roll on our PvP servers then you are the worst kind of carebear. You want free, easy kills because you don’t want to go up against skilled, experienced pvpers.
You ( the OP) are trying to act like you are all hard on the internet yet you are being critical of those who have no interest in PvP.
Unlike you, us real pvpers want a challenge from other real pvpers. We are not looking to gank inexperienced pve players.
Take your fake bravado to Reddit homeboy.
Lmao relax bro it’s only pixels.
Many people find being ganked while leveling infuriating. Why do you care if people want to avoid it?
I think it’s worth going through being ganked while leveling, so I’m ok with PvP servers, but I understand if others aren’t. Not everyone likes uneven pvp… and that’s what world pvp is, it’s uneven and most of the time unfair, which is not appealing to many people.
Yeah, I hate WoW wirld PvP. All wow wpvp is excused being a jerk.
And when done well I like pvp. I played Warhammer online from open beta to sunset and all that had was wpvp.
Wow just does it poorly and in a non-fun way by allowing gankers
Playing on a care bear server is appealing to some. It’s pretty sad.
Reason these care bears do so is they don’t want to be ranked on a pvp server.
I can say nothing is more thrilling then being a 60 rogue and corpse camping people cause you can.
Because before reaching level cap I just want to quest in Azeroth without being ganked, camped, or swarmed by the opposing faction. Even at level cap, if i want to PvP I got into a battleground. PvE servers give quality of life, less toxic players, and a more efficient gaming experience when work/family limits our game time.
Counter-ganking makes PVP servers a lot more fun, but you can’t do that when the person ganking you is some nerd on a 60. I wouldn’t play on a PVP server as a class/race that can’t go invisible.
Hopefully retail servers will be so active that whenever 60s show up to gank lowbies, enough 60s from the other faction will be ready and willing to respond.
Because world pvp is usually one sided and full of spawn camping mouth breathers when all I want to do is quest or get to my dungeon.
I used to really enjoy that extra layer of immersion knowing you could get killed at any time.
Somewhere around TBC I got over it. No longer found it fun and didn’t have the time and just found it a nuisance. As others have said- usually very one -sided.
1 Player killing you is not ganking no matter how you cut it, no matter what level they are.
Multiple players killing you is “Ganking” and comes from the phrase “Gang Killing”
If you’re getting “Ganked” proper, then sure I guess that could happen but typically it’s just one player that’s doing the killing and you’re just getting camped or killed by a better or higher level character.
I like watching 1v1s in the world. I never jump in unless it becomes a 2v1 or something. Some people get pretty mad when you just watch, though.
i haven’t decided if i’ll roll on a PvE or PvP server. most likely, PvE, but it depends on where my friends roll. i have no particular love or hate towards World PvP. i plan on playing a NE Holy Priest, so, farming for raids will be a PITA, so, that’s why a PvE server would appeal to me.
plus, most PvP on a PvP server is 1vX, ganking, or outleveling people. i dunno. i have a feeling Alliance will be outnumbered on most servers, tho. we’ll see.
