Why do people play on PVE servers?

What if that 1 player waits for you to be in combat with 2+ mobs?

Still just player vs player, not “Ganking” because for a Gank the players must all be ganging up against you.

NPC’s are not players and do not qualify.

Well for starters, I like to do quests in peace and not get killed over and over again. Second,I am not that good at it and I like progression no doing same thing over and over again. Plus, it already expensive to get gear, and such do not need add more I have to grind for.

Its not the pvp part, my brother loves wpvp battles and the ocasional attack while leveling, but he has limited time to play wow and he don’t want to waste that time to a kid who just discovered rogues.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/522714671595751/ Wow classic group looking for friends to play with on launch !!

I’m a carebear I guess. I like the PvE challenge and what that encompasses. PvP can be loads of fun too when seizing areas and maybe when I feel more evenly matched. Though it sucks to lose over and over again with little to no gain for my time.

It’s a mindset, as some people always want the thrill of always being at risk.

For me, it’s the context. I enjoy PvP when it suits a purpose, where PvP is dramatic and has stakes. I never enjoyed PvP for the sake of PvP? And in the end, there’s no actual stakes in WPVP - it’s just there to do it. Even when they added World PvP objectives, it’s thoroughly inconsequential.

I love wPvP and ganking everyone I meet (because lets be honest PvP realms are about stalking that one guy down and attacking him repeatedly until he gets away, wipes the floor with you or ragequits. Honest pvp is a myth. KEK)

However, other people don’t have my patience and I kinda need 39 other people to raid. So its a PvE realm for me.

That right there is the best reason to play on a PvP server. Show that kid who’s boss.

This logic may be flawed. Recent information would suggest that vanilla PVP servers have much higher retention than PVE servers. Retail vanilla servers may give the opposite impression since you could transfer off PVP to PVE, but not the other way around.

And is that information coming from a crystal ball or a Zoltar machine?

Private servers. I’ve seen some launch with PVP and PVE servers, the PVE one dies right away.

Could be the audience, or that the PVE players and just more interested in fair play and therefore avoid private servers.

Pretty easy concept, OP. Some people hate PVP. Don’t overcomplicate things.

About as accurate as their mob armor numbers. They don’t cost money, their population is inflated and irrelevant.

You do know you can pvp on a pve server if you so choose?

The appeal is playing the game without the hassle of being ganked.

It could definitely be flawed logic, that’s correct. Here are my reasons for believing this is true.

  1. I’ve played on every server type, when I was playing on Emerald Dream in WoD/Legion (what I’d consider an active PvP server) My raid teams members were good, damn good even, probably because of the wPvP, but we never had enough people to run Mythic and I ended up server transferring to Mal’ganis to raid (which is effectively a horde PvE server) and had decent success until the realm bled players.

  2. I had lots of success raiding on Dalaran Alliance in MoP, a PvE realm. Lots of people eager to raid. Downside was that alot of them were abysmal players who didn’t seek improvement.

Counterarguments:

  1. The popular private servers are PvP and tje high pop Nostralius PvE realm ended up merging because of low pop.

Ending statement. From my experience, I find that people join the realm type that fits what their goals are:

RP: Walk up Roleplaying
PvP: Organized PvP. wPvP
PvE: Raiding
RPPvP: wPvP, instanced RP

For me at least, ganking is half the fun and makes the game feel more dangerous.

There’s something entertaining about constantly camping a low level noob.

However at the same time, if I’m the low level noob being ganked then it’s fair game. From there it’s up to me to figure out how to escape from the predator.

Some people don’t enjoy pvp.

Others like myself find it utterly boring to thr point they fall a sleep while doing it.

People find enjoyment in different ways.
