Back in the day I couldn’t afford it.
This. I defend it because I like it coming in late, when we’ve had time to engage. Yeah, I like that it goes to my alts immediately, but even then I’ve experienced the quests and world.

Pathfinder will always be preferable to spending gold on flying for alts, as someone with around 40 characters.
Ok I’ll do it once, but dailies arent once, theyre many many times
For me, I think there are two aspects that I like about pathfinder.
As someone who is grinding out all three pathfinders right now, the first thing I notice is that it isn’t that hard or time consuming. Back of the napkin math, I should be done with them in the next week or so. But for me, the grinding is a part of the game that I really enjoy, so I can see how people who don’t enjoy that aspect would disagree with the achievement.
However, I think that the grind makes it feel more meaningful. Having to run around on the ground becomes challenging, but if we look at the game in full, most of the expansions were designed for you to be running around on the ground. Only Wrath, Cata and MoP were built with flying in mind. Vanilla, BC, WoD, Legion and now BfA were designed for ground movement.
The grind is something that makes those achievements feel meaningful and I look forward to being able to knock out WQs in no time at all by flying around, but I think that just because it is time consuming isn’t a fair argument for taking it out of the game.
In grinding out all three right now, the one note I would make is that I’d like to see the reps proceed equally, there are definitely a few bottlenecks.
Draenor is pretty poor, Saberstalkers can just be knocked out in one shot but one daily quest per the other two factions is dumb, I’d like to have seen multiple dailies across Tanaan for those.
Legion isn’t bad. Just completing the Broken Shore quest line gets you to revered for part two. The Wardens is where part one slows down. Not having a dedicated zone means you either have to run to every zone to do it but also hope that enough Wardens WQs drop each day.
BfA suffers from the same issue as the Wardens rep with the Tortollans and the Champions of Azeroth. Doing the dailies in Mechagon and Naztajar for about two weeks gets you to revered but with the Tortollans and Champions of Azeroth, you gotta hope those quests drop.
Overall, I like pathfinder, it can be a grind, but I think that it makes the experience of flying that much sweeter.
Sadly. Yes. I’m sure some jokers did say that.
Typically, it’s two types of people.
1: Delusional people who genuinely believe this makes it more ‘MEANINGFUL’, because you know something is meaningful when you have to be told that it is.
2: Hardcore Blizzard shills, the kind of people who would open their mouths if Ion started peeing on the crowd at Blizzcon.
It’s a pretty blatant timegate, a non-compromise - it’s there specifically to keep your /played up, and nothing more. Otherwise, you’d just be able to complete it the day the expansion dropped.
You’re not supposed to remember that lol
Never underestimate people like me in the forums.
Because I like flying and that’s how I am still able to fly.
Pathfinder itself I don’t mind doing. Its the huge gap between part one and two that gets me tilted.
The grind itself isn’t very hard. I knocked out all the questing ones first, then went in with world quests etc. to get the reps done.
When part two (finally) hit I went Najatar first (gearing up along the way) then went to Mechagon to finish it up.
That itself isn’t hard at all, its the boring stretch between part one and part 2.
It’s pretty easy to get pathfinder if you have a main and do the current expansion from the start. The thing that can make it really annoying are things like Rustbolt rep.
It took me forever to get pathfinder, way behind everyone else because I just simply hated the lore of the zone. It would have been more fun if it wasn’t just an entire blob of chores and dailies. 10 rep per WPVP kill in Rustbolt could have helped me have more fun, but it wouldn’t have made sense in the story.
I figure as long as the zones are fun and engaging then pathfinder falls into place naturally.
I defend it because it was either pathfinder or no flying at all and I would much rather have flying.
The same reason anyone defends anything. They like it, or they approve of it. I like it. Pathfinder is fun.
While I prefer the old way i don’t mind pathfinder.
I DO mind their timing with pathfinder. Having to wait til X.2 feels way to long IMO. Part 2 should be obtainable during X.1 or X.1.5 at the latest IMO
Because I still believe flight was a massive mistake that should have never been added. I know flight isn’t going to be removed but I also know neither will pathfinder. You guys have been complaining about it since WoD and we already know it will be in the next expansion.
I have better things to do then whine about something that clearly isn’t going to change and just accept the reality of the situation.
content that becomes irrelevant after the first few weeks, being generous.
if i could have quit doing world quests a week into the expansion, i would have, but it was a requirement for flying and azerite power.
Not true.
You can complete every story in every launch zone while maxing out every launch rep and still not get to fly. Because Pathfinder Part 2 exists.
Meanwhile in WotLK I never finished all the zones on any one character. I had the freedom to pick and choose where I wanted to go and only work on that when I made alts. But still had the ability to buy flying.
Also the “grind” we do for these pathfinder achievments isn’t even a real grind. Like, give me a timbermaw style rep grind. Let me throw on a tabard and do dungeons. Allow me to grind at my pace. Don’t tell me I can only get 500 rep a day but I need revered to unlock flying for content I’ve already well exhausted.
Saves gold and i just need to do it on one character…
What is the problem?
got pathfinder: enables flying for all alts
without pathfinder: have to manually buy for each alt
it’s not that I defend it…
it’s that arguing about it is futile. blizz isn’t going to change their stance.
