Okay, let me tell you my story. I was in a heroic dungeon, like always, nothing new. We were clearing trash when someone kicked a player for being AFK. On the map, it showed that the player had finally moved, and I said no, but everyone else said yes. It reminded me of when I was a fresh 85 and got kicked just for doing heroics. I mean, you do heroics to get better gear; it’s a default requirement, but when you have people kicking you for no reason other than an addon telling them you’re doing low DPS, I find it very toxic.
So, we hadn’t even cleared the first boss yet, and I told these people that kicking someone is toxic, that it’s not good for the community, and that there should be a minimum of communication before kicking someone. And guess what? They kicked me! So, when I whispered these players to ask why, they told me it was simply because I talked too much and had low DPS. Want to hear something funny? We hadn’t even cleared the first boss in the heroic, no one had wiped, and I was just chilling in the heroic and not taking it seriously. At most, I was interrupting the healer mobs to make it go faster, and they kicked me.
I don’t understand why this community feels the need to kick every player who doesn’t meet their expectations every second. And they’re always blood elves.
“This community” doesn’t. You happened to meet individuals, among whom one decided to initiate a vote kick, and at least however many others are needed clicked yes.
If that is happening to you consistently, perhaps start keeping a record. I’m not sure what data might be the most relevant, but any interactions you have, or chat you may have might be a good place to start. After you have about 10 or so more experiences, make a new post or update this post with some of the results, and let’s discuss.
No, I was just mad because it happened to me once, and I wanted to complain because it happened when I was just starting my character at 85. Sometimes I think the community should be better and stuff. Honestly, I just wanted to vent. There are really cool people, but I think there are too many who should stop kicking you for literally everything. Seriously, dude, in some groups, they kick you for everything, and some people get super paranoid about it. There’s like an instability between the nice people and the ones who are just plain mean.
I would guess the opposite, if there is a difference, but I suspect there probably isn’t.
I got kicked once, and whispered asking why. The person who replied said they didn’t know, and just clicked yes, but the reason given was hunter pulling or something. Reviewing the instance encounter, it looked like it was the DK’s pet, so just an assumption that led to a removal.
A month ago I talked to another individual who had the same gripes with the kick vote system. While I can’t offer any good advice, the best solution is let players do what they need to do. It’s better in your position as player to be useful to them, and not cause scenario’s where these players instantly recognize you as a disruption to their personal insecurities in the game.
Normally no player should shame or bash on blizzard for making a system that encourages this, but we can criticize their decision making based on our experience playing the game, every day. I agree that vote kick system is blatantly abusive to players in cross-realm queuing, but in very, very small cases vote kick is useful incase someone dc’s from the group. In my heroic experience this happens often because blizzard server’s can be unstable sometimes.
I agree vote kick should be removed but remember that players are sincerely impatient for every content that rolls over, so if we can’t kick people, then everyone else will leave resulting in more wasted time. It also doesn’t help that Cata content is a little hyperactive so people are only online to probably do one heroic then call it good for the rest of the day.
LOL. I mean, you’re not wrong, it is toxic to kick like yours was, but this is why most people don’t chatter in LFG dungeons. Also, very few are doing dungeons to chill. They want in and out as fast as possible precisely because they are getting gear to move on to other content. AFKers are a problem. Why hit accept for a dungeon and then go afk? Take care of business before queuing.
Ive been playing TWW the last couple weeks and I haven’t been seeing this vote-kick problem in dungeons there. But I’ve seen it a lot in Wotlk and Cata classic. It feels like a Classic-specific problem tbh. Have you seen the threads complaining about Firelands being “too easy” and the great fight against LFR? The classic playerbase can be insufferable sometimes.
Aight so this was in retail, but it all still applies.
While doing Mists of Tyrna Scythe or however it’s spelled we constantly messed up on the most park, like 6 times. Right at the start I said I didn’t know what I was doing, and on the last part I tripped the reset. i said sorry, but right then someone voted to kick one of our other dps saying “idiot” well I am the idiot sir. And I voted no lmao. I see a lot of votes to kick.
Did a kick myself recently too after a bunch of tomfoolery happened to piss off our healer. I said “dude’s mad” and we all voted to kick him because he was cussing out our second tank. People just be too silly.
I’m not trying to waste too much time, but I’m rude and I’m not in a hurry if I get into a dungeon. Sometimes it’s warranted, but it shouldn’t be abused, have some patience and don’t call people idiots. Did they ruin your day or did you?
Anyway, people abuse the system, so just try to stay righteous out there because there’s a lot of uncalled for bs.
I got my own way of dealing with this. I leave at the drop of a hat. Wipe? I leave. Tank loses aggro? I leave. Healer not paying attention, I leave. And initiate a kick on someone? Ill vote yes, let them be kicked and then leave.
I’m right there with you, this entire community and the game needs a reality check. People thinking they’re all super entitled and special. I don’t know when it happened but it feels like no one gives a sh*** about anyone, no one tries to help anyone anymore. I rarely do people take the extra little time and patience to help someone learn or do something.
If it is happening constantly, maybe post in the Customer Support forums and figure out what is going on. I only have my own experiences to go by, but in my experience someone being vote-kicked in an instance is an extremely rare occurrence.
I would guess maybe 1% or fewer instances have someone vote kicked, on average, but I could be mistaken, and of course it’s likely that some people are more trigger happy than others, and of course that there would be outliers on both giving and receiving ends.
