Why do Men Play Female Characters?

This is a question to the community and player base.

Why is it very disturbingly common to see female toons running all over the place in every zone or instance, and yet they are 80-90% male players.

I find it weird. In every game I have ever played with an option to create a character whether its RPG or not like PUBG… I made a Male character. 20 years of gaming I have never purposely played or created a female character, even in Super Smash Bro’s or Mario Kart N64 as a kid let alone an RPG with character time investment!

Honestly just the fact that it is very common… it feels like 90% of characters in capital cities are female and maybe 70-80% of those are male players.

Its just weird coming back to MMOs because in 2004-5 it was more balanced

Now I see blood elf females everywhere I look on Horde

Its ok that there are other threads because this is now in 2020… the past has different answers than today

It could actually be a real life scientific study on Human Behaviour its not bad to care or be curious about why.

People need to realize that

Change of pace for me. I like to hear the jokes and voice lines they added in. Sometimes its an animation thing. I really liked how female orcs held guns as a hunter. Sometimes it just because.

Most of them are very shapely, but I only play women. I suppose it’s like a feminist thing, I guess.

I remember an article that basically said this. I vaguely remember it also mentioning some form of desired special attention as another factor.

Edit: Of course play as you want it. But I do find it fascinating.
