Why do Covenant Abilities/Restrictions remove player agency?

Why? What does it matter to you about another’s play?

Because if everyone could be a god by simply choosing a talent it would instantly make everything in the game feel pointless and irrelevant.

Everyone needs to be bound by the same rules, and that means people should be punished

WHen I choose the Necrolords in shadowlands I will be losing the possibly superior single target abillity and will be getting an AoE one, that means I will excel more in AoE than in single target and that is a sacrifice I have made.

There is no sacrifice when you can change on the fly

I still don’t see how others playstyle choices affect you to where your choices can be made to feel pointless. Why do you care about what other people are doing so much?

This is where the argument of “consequences” falls apart.

In a flexible system - players that want to be loyal and have restrictions can still CHOOSE to do so. They could still get the subjective value they see in that kind of commitment - but as he and others have noted; it’s not about choice - it’s about enjoying the fact that others are being punished.

That’s your definition. You’re clearly into punishment for others who play the game, because they aren’t as carefree and careless as you.

In real life most choices do not come with punishments and negative consequences.

A game that is all about punishment for irrecoverable mistakes made when time and information were short is a game that few will play for long. Most people don’t actually get off on knowing that other people are being punished for choosing what appeared to be the least worst option in a videogame. I’m not sure why you think that is a normal response. If anything it is abnormal.

A normal response is, “I have to start over because I want to do pvp? Screw this game!”

Actually that’s a fact of life choices are always going to include consequences and punishment. Thats the way the world works, do you not leave the house for anything because just a day out and you learn every choice you make has a price

Sure. You can say whatever you want. That doesn’t make it so every time you go to the store and every item you buy comes with a punishment.

What, you had coffee for breakfast! Punishment time!

Nope. That isn’t life. If your life is all about making sure that others get punished for choices that were actually of no consequence, I pity those who must put up with you.

Sure it does if your going to the store buying alot of process food your punishment is a early heart attack and health issue thanks for proving the point of it being true for me.

I’m through arguing with people whose life is built around punishing other people so you can get pleasure from that. Seriously. You should have that looked into.

Agreed. Everytime you get in to drive a different car - you don’t have to go back and go through drivers ed and take a driver’s test.

What you’ve already earned carries over.

With the current system - you have to re-earn stuff you’ve already grinded through.

just because you take pleasure in something doesn’t mean it doesn’t come with negatives. I enjoy drinking very few days and we all know the price of that. YOur mixing up joy with a fantasy world where you can’t feel joy without being punished because news flash a lot of people enjoy drinking and few enjoy smoking but they end up with cancer. They still enjoy it. The simple fact is you can feel pure joy in something. I enjoy the choices i make but they doesn’t mean they don’t come with consequences lol Hell a lot of people enjoy mcdonalds but we all see what happens when they enjoy it to much they become extremely overweight and die early from heart attacks. A choice Is a path way between 2 or more diffrent things So if I say here’s water and here’s soda you can still enjoy both but if you pick soda you do get a slight or small punishment you wouldn’t have gotten if you picked water. That’s reality if you can’t accept that you need to go back to school and learn the real reality without mommy and daddy protecting you.

Um every time you choose a different car while you don’t have to retake the test you do have to relearn some of the cars details unless your going to walmart or something for changing oil or repairs you really do have to relearn a lot about the new car lol. Even if you don’t do that you still have a inbetween if you choice to go to a manual car from a automatic car you do have to relearn some parts so ya. Which by the way i believe majority of people just buy the same car over and over again just diffrent years and models lol but basicly the same its like a brown bear to a black bear with them lol. As for the coffee for breakfast your price is paid later in the day when you end up having a caffeine crash lol

Yeah and you’d have to relearn how to use covenant abilities in the same way if you could switch them easily out of combat. And like driving a stick shift - when you get back into that car, you’ll pick up pretty close to where you left off; not back at zero having to start from scratch.

But the way the system is setup now is more in line with having to get your license over and over again each time you switch cars.

With the way people drive they really should have to regret the license over and over again and I highly doubt it is like that I think people are just reading and jumping the gun out of fear. If it was up to me everytime someone had a eye doctor appointment/ turned 45 and got a new car they would have to re get their license because the majoirty of people have no idea how to drive any more.

Luckily this is a game and people’s lives aren’t at stake.

So making a system as flexible as driving in the real world won’t do any harm.

People’s self esteem and epeen is though, and that can be as important as their life for some people xD

Coming from Rälph btw, oh the irony.

Coming from a DH that also takes the game too seriously and depends on the game telling them they are good as they lack self awareness, not even surprised, normal people do that all the time xd

I dont need self awareness, my profile speaks for itself, so does yours  its just funny having the guts to label players as bad when you are equal to them or even worse.
