Why do blue eyes matter so much? Seriously though why the rage?

It’s true. That doesn’t make them a new race or a different people. Humans calling themselves treants doesn’t magically make them not human.

Yes, but they still are high elves, the director of the game itself has even stated that. Sorry you can’t comprehend it.

Yes, we can agree they changed from alliance to horde. That’s the only thing we’ll probably agree on. :joy:

While true, that’s not what matters. Both the Alliance and Horde have a group of HIgh Elves that are loyal to them. It doesn’t matter that they’re biologically the same group if they’re ideologically different.

You just don’t want another model similar to Blood Elfs on the Alliance. That’s fine. You’re allowed to not want it, and Alliance players are allowed to want it. The difference is they’re citing canon lore for why they want it, and there’s no lore to support why it shouldn’t happen.

You’re talking about gameplay things. They’re talking about lore things. You have different priorities, but just because your argument is focused on gameplay doesn’t mean that the lore isn’t canon.

This is not disputed. HIgh Elf players know that Blood Elves were once part of the same group.

Until the Devs say that the Alliance High Elves aren’t also High Elves, it doesn’t matter if they’re the same.

That’s cute, but what we agree on is that a Dev can change their mind. There are High Elves on both sides.

Unless you want to insist that there are NO High Elves on the Alliance, which you’ve been proven to be wrong about, then we agree on at least two things.

…meanwhile, I’m over here doing the happy dance about white worgen, blue pandas, ah yis, DWARF TATTOOS. Doesn’t hurt those blue eyes are going to look awesome with my blood elf hunter’s transmog. No tears here.

You can be an anything with blue eyes!! #deathknight

If J.R.R. Tolkien asked me for a monthly subscription, a box price, multiple expansion prices and ran a micro-transaction shop, almost all of which were required to experience his story, I might feel like I had an investment, yes.

We don’t owe Blizzard anything simply for existing. They are supposed to convince us that their product is worth our time and money.

It is unfortunate that so many people think so little of themselves as to imagine that they were born in debt to to some business enterprise and that they they could dictate instead of sell.

I can see that you don’t… several times thus far. I suspect you may continue to vehemently and actively “not care”.

I am sick of it as well, it seems to be resolved though. But if you haven’t glutted on cruelty thus far, feel free to heap some more on, certainly the pain of others never really gets old.

Like real life, everyone is jealous of us blue eyes. Except for those overpowered green eyed people. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Lightforged draino are waiting for them.

Blood elves purged themselves of fel corruption.

It’s not a tolkein story, whole different universe here.

Want boring Tolkien elves? Lotro is available to play.

As much as I dislike horde, you can make an argument that blood elves are the good guys. See lorethremar and liandrin. They’re pretty good all things considered.

Ok praising hordies just made me throw up a little, be happy, it’s rare.

I have absolutely no desire to play a high elf. Never been my jam. But it is more than a little bit spiteful to just enable them on Horde after Alliance have been asking for 15 years… And after they show up all over the place as Alliance NPCs. Hell, even the portal master for BfA warfronts is a High Elf.

Green eyes here - get on my level!

In 20 years from now we’ll all remember the Blue Eye Forum Wars and giggle.

Doubt it, people don’t remember the “blood elves don’t belong on horde” wars from tbc when the old ugly horde didn’t want them.

Should have been ogres but horde needed a pretty race. :woman_shrugging:

Yeah I just figured it was blatantly obvious how Blizzard works in terms of races swapping faction sides. Them adding neutral races I’m sure may happen in again, but they’re not going to take a race from the horde and give it to the alliance without any physical changes at all, which is what you claimed you were asking for. It’s just unreasonable to even ask.

Even if Blizzard did decide to do this in the future for whatever reason, there’s no equivalent to give back to the horde. The fact that Blizzard themselves has said it’s not going to happen, they’re already in the game if you want to play them and people are still asking just shows that people are unable to comprehend that they aren’t going to get them because they’re already on the horde.

Yeah and if you honestly don’t think game play things take priority over lore, I don’t know where you’ve been all these days…

Nobody says they aren’t, though. But they said if you want to play as one, the high elf race joined the horde and they’re already playable. I don’t know how much clearer they have to be.

Yes, but they will only be playable on one side. Like I said, there’s no equivalent to give to the horde even if somehow they changed directors. What would the horde get?

I’ve never really said there are none. There’s a few high elves, yes. Not enough to be an entirely new separate race, not physically different to be an entirely new race. They’ve already said It won’t happen because they’re already playable on the horde. Continue to demand them and acting like Blizzard’s slapping you in the face when they refuse to give them to you is beyond childish.

A lot of white supremacists are just really emboldened with the current american president. /shrug

Some people have made Alliance high elves the focus of their fan fictions and role playing sessions. They have had a pretty aggressive online presence since Allied races became a possibility, and became a lot worse the last time Blizzard addressed this. In doing this Blizzard is clarifying the lore further and solidifying those clarifications in a more permeate way then just commentary.

It’s honestly way tamer than I expected. Most of the people who are active and upset about it were already doing the thing. They just made more threads then they have in a while. The one thing I have seen that is different is a lot of people who are against it but were never particularly motivated to weigh in seem to be out in force.

Your not required to pay the subscription. That was your choice. Or is WoW some sort of Gateway Drug or something to you? You chose to pay to play in the World of Warcraft, much like I choose every time I buy a character service.

You might have the delusion that there was no choice, but Blizzard didn’t hold a gun to your head. You choose it to play their game. You get access. That’s all you are entitled to and nothing more.

Acquiring a subscription does not, and never has meant that you become a story consultant, or get a say in what happens. You can make recommendations or suggestions, but they have a absolute right to veto and disregard it.

No. What is unfortunate is that the majority of my generation seems to have grown into a generation of delusional, self-important, and entitled cry-babies that only now as man-children finally are realizing that they do not get everything they want by stamping their feet and throwing a temper-tantrum.

The entirety of why people are blowing up is because since we saw our first High Elves in WoW. Players clamored for them as a playable race. Jumping to Legion/BFA when Allied Races were introduced. Guess who’s the most upset the day Alleria decided to pull a barely existing race out of the blue? Void Elves… Lore wise, High Elves are significantly rarer than Blood Elves, sadly that’s what I’ve come to accept however, it is a rather slap to the face IMO if a race people who asked for High Elves instead get Void Elves, who aren’t even High Elves to begin with, they’re still Blood Elves who were exiled.

Now… Blood Elves get blue eyes, are they now considered High Elves now?

Some people want to run around as a blue eyed… blonde haired… wait a minute…

They just need to merge Void elves and High elves into one Allied race, add a toggle slider where you pick void or no void.

  • No void, makes the skin tones pinker, removes the hair tentacles and chages your racials to have arcane partacle effects instead of void partacle effects.

It’s really that simple.

The people that are crying for blue eyed Elves are probably the same people that clamor over a mount and why this has turned into World of Mountcraft upon occasion.
