Oh, but don’t you see?
You’re a terrible person for caring about adhering to lore.
Oh, but don’t you see?
You’re a terrible person for caring about adhering to lore.
I’m glad somebody didn’t just let this drop to the wayside
Blizzard has specifically stated that Blood Elves do not consider themselves High Elves. So your insistence that you are a “Quel’dorei” is both hilarious and canonically incorrect.
People haven’t even noticed that these new skins - when they become playable - are again not the eyes of the high elves.
The high elves have dark blue eyes, as you can see here:

And, according to Lore, they should have eyes up to violet. Blood elves will have light blue eyes - and turquoise eyes, a mixture of arcane and light (light blue) and light and felgreen(turquoise)
Yeah I mean Blood Elves went through with what they did but now new “magic” exists that allows them to be Blood Elves, but look like how they used to with the blue eyes. I’d imagine this being something a lot of the Blood Elves themselves would be pretty happy about.
A Blood Elf getting blue eyes doesn’t make them a High Elf or whatever, it just makes them a Blood Elf with blue eyes, it’s that simple.
The Void Elves should just have custom options that enable people to make them appear like the High Elves, and there’s no reason why this shouldn’t be possible. I imagine that within the lore, unlike the game world represents, there’s a value to this sort of thing, where a Void Elf can appear like a High Elf if they’re only 10% a Void Elf/a Blood Elf/High Elf/whatever.
I see where this is going.
This effort to claw back ‘Quel’dorei’ for the Sin’dorei is a blatant effort to reframe what it means.
Quel’dorei refers specifically to the Alliance-aligned High Elves.
Sin’dorei refers specifically to the Horde-aligned Blood Elves. They have abandoned ‘Quel’dorei’. They use ‘Sin’dorei’ because they have abandoned ‘Quel’dorei’.
This is Highs Elves on the Alliance. Blood Elves are on the Horde.
They would be blue-eyed High Elves.
Hell yeah.
The Horde has Blood Elves.
There are High Elves in the Alliance. Why not make races available to the Alliance playable on the Alliance?
You insist that because there is an elf model on the Horde that they cannot have an elf model on the Alliance. Well, I hate to break it to you, but the Void Elves have the same model. Do you really think tentacles in the hair makes that much of a difference? It doesn’t.
Put a Horde Blood Elf and an Alliance Void Elf in head-to-toe armor that doesn’t show their face or skin and you wouldn’t be able to tell their models a part. What you’re arguing against is already a reality.
Thing is, Helf blue eyes have been inconsistent. They vary from male to female, and they used DK eyes in some cases until recently. They were never intended to be player options, which may explain the lack of polish they had
What we’re seeing now may be a refined version of what Blizz believes blue eyes should look like, regardless of what they were in the past
i thought ALL the allied races were lack luster, not just the Alliances lol.
I mean the Zand Trolls are just Dark skinned Goblins on Night Elf bodies.
The Foxes, you cant even tell male from female.
i cant even remember what the other ones are lmao.
From Wikipeida:
An elf (plural: elves ) is a type of humanlike, supernatural being in Germanic mythology and folklore.
The word elf is found throughout the Germanic languages and seems originally to have meant ‘white being’.
The main medieval Germanic cognates are Old Norse alfr , plural alfar , and Old High German alp , plural alpî , elpî (alongside the feminine elbe).
Stop arguing semantics. The model would be exactly the same, you already stated that yourself.
Once again you’re arguing semantics over something we already went over. You want to take a horde model for the second time and allow the alliance to use it. I said that’s dumb, that’s my opinion. Get over it.
Once again arguing semantics, you already admitted they look exactly the same and the only difference is ideology. The race known as high elves left the alliance and joined the horde. A splintered group of people re-joined the alliance.
That’s like saying “Even though the alliance were burning vulpera alive and so they joined the horde, there’s probably still splintered groups of them that could join the alliance and make playable vulpera for the alliance as well!”
It’s dumb. It’s not going to happen. It shouldn’t happen. I hope it never happens, period.
Doesn’t mean they should be playable, especially when you yourself admit it would literally just be making blood elves on the alliance side with blue eyes and a different name.
Because they’re already on the horde. The faction as a whole left the alliance already and joined the horde, how is that so hard to understand? It’s not going to happen, it shouldn’t happen, I hope it never happens. Having dwarves, dranei, humans etc on the horde would be just as dumb and I hope would never happen.
Yes because horde is horde and alliance is alliance, I’ll say that for the 50th time. I PERSONALLY prefer that and think pandaren were a huge mistake, as does Blizzard considering they have done nothing with them since MoP.
Which I think was a mistake and shouldn’t have happened, go on?
I literally said that at some point, I’m pretty sure… which I’m pretty sure I also reiterated again saying “We don’t need the blood elf model to be stolen a second time and remade AGAIN for the alliance to use” or something along those lines.
Which once again, I’ve stated is a mistake and shouldn’t have happened in the first place. That’s my opinion, I stated that. You can’t say I’m wrong based on my own opinion. If I say “My favorite color is red” you can’t say "Well you’re wearing purple, so I disagree and think your favorite color is purple.
That’s what you’ve been arguing this whole time and it’s honestly just silly.
but most of the blood elves did a 360 turn on the horde and became void elves. What would you say with the argument of high elves=blood elves= void elves?
This is a case of the grass being greener syndrome. Horde got Tauren with moose antlers and jankier, objectively worse Night elves. Not saying Lightforged and Void elves are good either, but it’s a case of both factions thinking they lost. And on the case of Vulpera, believe me, a lot of Horde are really not happy they got Vulpera.
that is all the same damn elf, and everyone can play then, w don’t need more.
I can’t fathom, if you are the only person pointing problems from both sides.
I have to wonder why someone would say something like this.
There is no theft. Nothing would happen to blood elves. Nothing would change for them and those that enjoy playing them.
No one would be taking anything from the horde.
The addition of High Elves to the alliance would just be answering a request that has been active and desired since launch, since before really, since a little window popped up in an obscure little RTS game.
If you love playing blood elves, no one is taking anything from you.
If you are opposing alliance high elves, you are definitely taking something away from others though.
Hope.
WoW has always been an amazing place where things can happen, dreams can come true. That has always been one of its finest attributes since it grew from a small RTS game to overtake and eventually dominate the MMO market.
And some people have held on to those hopes, even seen them realized through the growth of the game.
But the desire for alliance high elves has never been realized despite being well known and understood. Again and again developers have failed to listen to their constituency and the matter has grown more and more virulent and divisive as the community has grown more toxic and sadistic.
Now we see swathes of people actively gorging on the pain and unhappiness of others. People with nothing to lose leering down on their fellow humans, dispirited and depressed, and gleefully adding what misery they can to those backs.
To imagine that years of accumulated hope dissipating in a raw display of mockery and hatred means nothing is foolish but common.
To so swiftly snatch at even these minor threads of hope is a banal evil, just a basic sort without any special character. Ugly acts of revelation.
But if this act of taking has been formulated for just this moment, crafted to deliver pain to a segment of the population, feeding it to the other, in this time of fear and unrest, who would do that?
What sort of being would so ruin hope when there is so very little of it to spare?
If it is true, then it is unfathomable.
except it will, it would validate all the purist headcanon that the alliance keep pushing saying how they are pure elves, how they never “betrayed allies” how theya re “not corrupted” how they are “righteous” how they think they are the “true elves” when in fact, silvermon and their people are the blood elves, not a bunch of dissimulate exiles
The high elf theme is on the blood elves. it would be stripped to be given to the alliance
A obnoxious and nonsensical request that should have being gone since TBC
in the RTS the elves literally left the alliance.
you can always play an high elf, on horde
don’t use the moral appeal here, nobody will feel sorry
thats because the race is already in the other faction. you got void elves as a kind good enough gift from blizzard, if its not enough, patience
The Elves you’re talking about are more French/Southern European.
Night Elves are more pictish than germanic.
Blue eyes being available for blood elves just makes sense with the Sunwell cleansed for years now. Though, I can’t help but wonder if any Alliance-affiliated High Elves (who are still definitely allowed to visit/stay in Quel’thalas) ended up developing golden eyes due to the Holy tinge in the Sunwell. Just, flat-out break eye color barriers for Horde and Alliance elves because they’re the same damn species. All Blood Elves are High Elves but not all High Elves are Blood Elves.
Elves originated with the Germanic people. There is zero evidence that Greeks, Romans, Iberians, Gauls or Picts even had Elves in their mythology or folklore in any way, shape or form. The closest would be the Celtic Aes Sidhe but not only their name but their genesis is quite different.
This is not my opinion, this is fact.
The Night Elves and Blood Elves are solely creations of Blizzard. There are no naturally nocturnal or magic-addcted elves in Norse mythology.
But the appellation and concept of elves originated with the Germanic people, period.
Something that people have not considered due to of how caustic the High Elf community is.
Lets say they merge factions. Like in a expansion or two, we have a hard merge. Meaning Orcs in Stormwind and Humans in Org. Frankly, I would not doubt this is part of where Blizzard is headed with the game. It’s old. A split player base is not working out at all. So instead of going nova like Sunshine Bear after I finished Shadow’s Edge, why not look at it as a step toward the ultimate goal?
Sadly, I can just imagine also what their argument will morph into on that day too.
“I want the race name changed from Blood to High!”
Ultimately Blue eyes is a cover for their outrage, and they are outraged for the sake of being outraged. I was mad that I couldn’t play as Adam, in Streets of Rage 2 on the Genesis; but you didn’t see me keeping a grudge for 14 years.
The problem with the High Elf crowd is that they can’t accept that Blizzard made the Elves go Horde, despite Warcraft being Blizzard’s I.P. and not their own. But even more to the point, it’s long since shifted from a legitimate discussion on the lore, into a single minded fury to bludgeon and threaten Blizzard to acquiesce that they are right, even if their idea of right is patently absurd.
The outrage over Blue-eyes is Blizzard saying.
“Here. Because this makes sense in lore, this is as close as we can come.”
Yet instead of being grateful for the clarification, the High Elf crowd starts shrieking like Megatron in the Transformers Movie: “Fall! FALL! FALL!!!” -firing wildly at Optimus Prime, because in actuality Megatron has an inner emotional need to see Optimus Prime defeated and humbled before him.-
Their hope? Get Blue eyes removed to detriment the players who like this, and to continue their ‘crusade’. They do this because these selfish and self-serving individuals cannot allow anyone to be happy unless they are. Unless Blizzard kneels and kisses their hand and apologizes it will never be enough.
The High Elves are now the Blood Elves. I’m sorry that people dislike that, but this is what Blizzard’s lore says. Accepting that fact or being reported for spam seems to be the way forward now. I think most people on the forums are sick of this topic after 14 years.
