Mate, I can’t argue about how you felt about the campaign, but one of my lingering frustrations was how rarely we engaged the actual Horde on blueside instead of proxies.
And the feeling that once again, my night elf was following my orc with a broom and dustpan, sweeping up the mess and putting vases back on shelves.
You COMPLETELY ROUTED THE HORDE OUT OF TIRISFAL. The Alliance was not in any way completely routed from Darkshore. EVER.
You deleted not only the Zandalari fleet, but the Zandalari army.
You stole the tide sage stone from us after we stole it from you, and used it on us.
I forgive you for forgetting all of the victories you achieved, cause even I don’t remember them all.
???
None of what I listed was off of camera.
Not even stealing the tidestone.
You literally break into the vaults and steal it back.
And playing both sides doesn’t mean the Alliance player doesn’t experience the overwhelming Alliance victory in which Jaina Proudmoore solos the ENTIRE HORDE and benevolently chooses not to kill them all as confirmed in the Shadowlands Ardenweald play.
What we got to play through in Tirisfal was a siege full of cunning traps and SUDDEN PLOT TWISTS where all the civilians were safely evacuated, Saurfang was depressed, Sylvanas was smug and yet inept, the Alliance was extra-stupid at moments and also inept, and at the end we were ported back on a dock full of coffins of war dead and got a speech about how much war hurts.
Then the next time we saw the area in game, it was back in Horde hands completely.
I know BFA was a while ago, but I can hold a grudge.
Yet for you it’s still not. I swear alliance players are the most entitled gaming community in the whole industry.
Blizzard handed you nothing but wins after teldrassil and the Horde was straight told by our own leaders we only matter if we follow alliance lead. Stop being selfish.
???
You beat the Horde army in a fair fight to the point that after your priest one shot melee killed an AZERITE WAR TANK, you beefed their cheatmode and forced THE ENTIRE HORDE ARMY TO EVACUATE THE ENTIRE ZONE.
CAPTURING THE ORCISH RACIAL LEADER IS NOT A VICTORY TO YOU. ROUTING THE ENTIRE HORDE OUT OF NOT ONLY A HORDE CAPITAL BUT A HORDE ZONE IS NOT A VICTORY TO YOU.
There is no honesty in your debate. https://youtu.be/p-GBU3LpXsg?t=23
Many things were terrible in this expansion, but in my personal opinion it is the very noticeable absence of Tyrande and Malfurion.
The beginning of BFA looked very interesting for these characters. Tyrande performing forbidden rituals? Malfurion finally showing his more savage side? I’m in. Let’s go!
However, after the first patch they completely disappeared.
In 8.2, on the Horde’s side, Lor’theman and Thalyssra fought against Azshara, which makes a lot of sense. On the Alliance side we have Jaina (which I can somewhat forgive) and… Genn… I don’t understand why they chose these two instead of characters who are strong enought to have a chance, have a common past, and a rather large beef with the Naga Queen. (I know Shandris was there, but during WotA she was a child and her role in Nazjatar was limited mostly to side quests)
In 8.3 we have return of N’zoth. This is the perfect opportunity for our strongest leaders to finally show their true strength. I wouldn’t be so upset about this wasted potential if one expansions later we learned that Night Warrior was able to defeat the Old God on another planet long ago. C’mon! Why we learn about this from random NPC? Why we haven’t seen it with our own eyes?
Malfurion and Tyrande have always trouble showing their strength on screen. Everyone talks about how powerful they are, but we never see it in game.
I’m presenting my feelings, based on how the quest was framed in the game. As are you.
You can put it up as a glorious victory or a rather tedious slog where the NPCs went out of their way to remind us of all the objectives we didn’t achieve and the heavy cost we paid for the ones we did (while not really showing us most of those successes in game).
And both are technically correct, which is the best kind of correct.
Since the whole thread is about how we felt about BFA, I’m going on my feelings. Which are MIXED.
The Alliance’s default state is winning.
The Horde has never. Not one single time in the history of World of Warcraft, defeated the Alliance in a fair fight.
The Horde has had to cheat every. single. time. And sometimes they lose even when they cheat.
This is why you’re conflating Alliance victory with defeat. You’re so used to flawlessly winning that any slight disparagement against the faction feels like loss to you.
The Horde was never allowed to win not even on their own turf which is why so many RP guilds just quit after the Zandalar raid right now Horde RP is pretty much dead on all races minus blood elves. My connections broke off with the release of void elves.
Not to my recollection, but not for any failing on the Alliance’s part.
The Alliance is just portrayed as better, and the Horde needs a macguffin to cheat, or to trick them into sailing their entire army to silithus while the nelf civilians outfight THE ENTIRE HORDE MILITARY 8:1.
