So here it goes. No one deserve gear period. The only reason someone should get better gear is if it need for next patch. Otherwise gear should be there for everyone. When gear given out it create a self entitlement to certain groups. Wow needs to make sure that does not happen and it does a ok job.
It is not the gear that makes the game. it is the experience, friendship and accomplishments that make the game. Those chasing gear are doing it wrong. A game is meant to fulfill you and bring you happiness and memories. That why I can wipe a 100 times and not care. As long everyone having fun, joking and general helping each other. Strangely I found that more in lfr than anywhere else.
Gear is replace as fast as you get it. Stop chasing and start having fun. Beside you can not brag about playing wow and how you got a level 500 weapon and get a mate can you?

I agree, mostly. The raids just aren’t as fun anymore. Wrath had some of the best concepts, but I just feel like the raids today are just so bland. The scenery is so forgettable outside of the general theme, I just can’t get engaged anymore. Cata was the start of the boring. It was alright, but not super interesting, outside of DS, maybe. Don’t get me wrong, vanilla wasn’t the best, either, but MC was my first taste of anything like that, so it was more exciting, and new than anything.
WQ rewards have been another, possibly the final, nail in the coffin, on top of removing tier sets, and vendors, along with what I mentioned earlier.
Random BGs are far too hit and miss to reward the best gear. Maybe RBGs, but random BGs are more luck of the draw than skill. There is no sense of organized play, because some people might be horrible, not doing what they’re supposed to, some might be new to it, and some might be doing just enough to not be kicked from the group. The problem is, if there are more of those people on the other team, you win.
WQs aren’t so much the problem as the WF/TF, system. You could be going into a quest expecting a 385, and get a 415, or whatever the max upgrade is. There is far too much RNG in the current gearing system.
This is the honest truth.
Remove DPS checks, scale the fights, make it all about handling the mechanics correctly then see who raids for the challenge without gear rewards.

As much as I love RPing, I’d like to point out.
You can make an RP bot… they are called NPCs in an RPG.
“Why did Raiders think they deserve anything?”
Probably because Las Vegas was almost immediately willing to build them a new stadium while Oakland apparently wouldn’t even consider it.

Sure I do.
Just not in an online game where the servers will inevitably be turned off and I’ll lose whatever I aspired to get.
The more that video games have gone from the “own” to “permitted to occupy” model, the less I’ve been invested in caring about my progress because at any moment it could get CoH’d.

And brushed aside as unimportant relative to the topic.
Ridiculous OP, claiming it’s harder to win a random battleground than kill mythic bosses.
I’ll give you Champs, because blizzard gave Champs to everyone and their blind, armless cousin Joe, but go get a CE, OP, then come back with an actually educated opinion.

LOL.
Is he saying Role Players deserve the best gear?
I need to process that …

We are coming for your GEAR raiders!!! You can’t stop us!!
casual flex
Actually, raiders are the ones who routinely unsub after they’re done with the current raid, while casuals with alts continue to log in and cycle through their armies of alts.

The better your gear, the faster your chores get done.

Everyone raids for different reasons. When I raided mythic in Legion I passed on better gear for items I wanted for transmog. We weren’t a top 100 mythic raid guild so we would kill the bosses a little later then others but 5 item levels on one item wasn’t going to change anything.
When you’re raiding mythic gear is very important though, mostly for DPS. Some bosses have hard DPS checks so the more gear you get can help fix that. Some bosses mechanics are extremely hard to deal with, more so when they overlap so more DPS because of higher gear means the boss doesn’t get to that point. World first mythic raiders kill the raid when they’re for the most part under geared for it, the average mythic raider it’s different. There will always be people as Azmongold that just want gear to flaunt over others and that’s true of PVE and PVP. Mythic raiding at it’s core will always be about the bosses and now more then ever, if you all care about is gear you get better gear faster from Mythic+ then mythic raids.

Raiding is getting mad at other players for doing things wrong.
Watched Asmongold’s stream of his experience doing Azshara and it pretty much summed up what happens in raids
I too deserve gear for slow walking around goldshire telling everyone I am the son of illidan/arthas/Jaina/thrall/hogger. Dem phat RP lootz!
Challenging content should give better rewards than easy content. I don’t see how anyone can really disagree with this.
If this is the case, how come you aren’t CE on every raid ever?
Lots of false equivalence going around in this thread. People comparing random bgs to mythic raiding.
If you say pvp is easy and are dilly dallying in the 1400 bracket forever, you’re not really pvping. Same goes for random bgs. If you find coordination easy, it’s because you haven’t done anything worthy in the pvp side of things.
Try playing in the 1800+ and higher brackets. That level of coordination and skill requirement is comparable to mythic raiding. And I spent 2 raid tiers doing mythic progression in Legion so I know what I am talking about.

Okay fine:
-
Challenge modes featured scaled gear and awarded achievements, titles, cosmetic armor sets, and mounts. Therefore content can be challenging and rewarding without needing the highest item level gear.
-
Raiding also offers achievements, titles, mounts, and cosmetic gear variants. And if you are any good at all, you can get casual players to give you in game gold to let them tag along for the achievements, titles, mounts, and cosmetic gear. Gold you can use to play WoW for free, buy store gear without cash, and buy Blizzard titles without cash.
I don’t see the issue here.
