it was 100% pointed out during the beta millions of times but blizzard chose to ignore it, which is why we have the first season of a brand-new expansion having less engagement than the fated season of the previous expansion.
canceled my sub, ends nov 4th. not paying until the reward structure mimics DF S2-4. the current system only serves to prop-up boosting, of which i have seen atleast 4 guildies buying aotc and key boosts in recent weeks. The game lost all spatial awareness when they let people buy/sell boosts. im sure people who sell carries are arguing against lowing rewards to where they had been and have seen record income. if one person quit but 6 people buy a token for a carry then bottom line isn’t impacted but the game lost a player. blizzard is cultivating a fine grave for this game. note: subbed all of DF, aotc and ksm each season, current environment is a toxic wasteland i havent seen since shadowlands or bfa.
It’s not meaningless. We are able to extrapolate data from it and make limited inferences in relation to historical analogy. What you are pointing out is wrong because you are to fixated on things I’m not even talking about.
Again, time is a major and relevant factor. Also, why are you focused on 10s specifically when the measure is usually around KSH, which is at 7.8% one month in.
KSH is irrelevant - I could sub KSM key levels into the same sentence and it would be exactly the same. Do you see why this is relevant though? The data is standardized. One month in percentage SHOULD remain similar across population size because of the law of large numbers.
That is NOT true with variances in time, rate, and missing data (pop size). You are making arguments without enough data to fit a narrative that you prefer. It is bias.
That’s the big point, that M+ this season is starting out at the old equivalent of +10. When i did push back in SL season 1, i barely managed to clear all +10s to get the title. I still felt accomplished and rewarded despite hitting my skill cap and was fine with it. I’ve tried to touch M+, even simple M0s and have never gotten accepted into pugs. Yes, you could say that “I should make my own groups” but that doesn’t take away the fact that I’m already at my skill level cap doing the first level of M+. There’s no rewarding feeling that I can’t progress myself up to that wall. It’s just a hard stop from the get go.
It’s a shame because I liked pushing keys but now it feels inaccessible. But I’m sure I’ll be told to shut up and git good lmao
This right here. It’s the constant push to please the esports community that is making casuals leave
No, the game needs to be balanced around the average players ability to achieve most goals. The elites will exist and there should be prestige goals for them - this is a poor design decision for the second class of gear - that should be medium hard difficult to achieve. Right now only about ~20% of the player base is doing keys that would help them to achieve this. It should be more. Myth track (highest prestige) can be kept in an ivory tower but putting hero there too… is just bizarre. You are stifling the majority of the your player base’s ability to progress in content which feels bad and people opt out when that happens. The other issue is that they designed a meta that alienates ALOT of players, especially healers and tanks. Healers and Tanks are the bottleneck for content for a lot of people and this, again, causes a number of HUGE issues when you are basically making it a job to actually play a game. Jumping into a M+ dungeon needs to be easy when you make it hard people with limited time (an older Wow crowd) will just simply decide not to play.
see its the opposite for me. in DF i ran what was needed to get ksm only and not even getting my portals. this time im having fun in 10s. i would run more if i had more time and did not have to tank lower keys for friends.
you can get hero track from +7s which is the same as heroic raid in term of ilvl… its called hero for a reason. you can even get it from delves if you farm maps. and i do believe more than 20% of the player base can achieve a +7
You can’t upgrade heroic gear unless you do 8’s - it is effectively Champion gear until you get gilded crests. This is the gate.
And according to the data it is 23% of the player base doing 7’s.
Yes and it is. That’s literally the point of using percentiles, like I did.
We are literally a few percentage points away from meeting all previous seasons end of season numbers. You can’t argue that this season is this big bad elitist content.
you can to 619 yes… which should be enough to make it ez to manage 8s. i know i been thru it like most people doing heroic-mythic raiding. and yes we went thru the same gearing process except it was 9s for gilded. same toxic people same key disband. i simply timed everything in a 7 then i started to get invites for 8s. and moved up this way till i get my portals
They didn’t screw it up. The challenge is actually making it quite fun again. DF was boring and soul-less experience tbh fam.
You are not addressing the several issues I pointed out with your argument based on the data and we are now going in a circle. Do you want to keep circling? Up to you.
So you are suggesting a majority of players are trash and content should be balanced around the minority?
Let the record show then. I’m hearing so many people quit playing because of the difficulty. People can’t find groups either because of the gatekeeping and poor balancing.
We are circling because you don’t understand my argument. You are misinterpreting what I am saying or just straight up misunderstand it.
Why don’t you try to summarize what my argument is so we can see if we are even talking about the same thing.
how is it balanced toward the minority? everyone have a game mode and a difficulty level.
you wanna do pvp? there is casual pvp rated pvp solo shuffle.
you wanna do raiding? you have lfr normal heroic raiding.
you wanna do dungeons? you have follower normal heroic mythic m+ infinite scaling.
clearly there is content for everyone. it just seem like you want the content and rewards to end where your skills end. what about those able to do higher content should they not be rewarded too?
its okay to not have the best gear and not be able to do the best content!!!
when i play chess with my massive 800 rating. i dont expect to compete and beat magnus carlsen and i dont expect the game to stop at 800 cause thats where i am…
You are hearing things from people in your own social. Your personal anecdote doesn’t mean anything about the difficulty of the content.
The issue here is the perceived difficulty, not the actual difficulty. I’ve outline this many times about why it felt harder than usual when it’s all relative and isn’t actually as hard as people make it out to be.
Gatekeeping happens every season, this isn’t anything new.
And guess what? You have an infinite scaling difficulty, that has been around for YEARS! If the content isn’t hard enough for you, you haven’t pushed your key high enough. It is really that simple!
