There was lmao. People wanted progressive itemization and talent trees specifically because they knew content would be a cakewalk with 1.12 balancing. They were, of course, correct.
You start the attunement process for Onyxia at around level 30 with The Diplomat lol. Does not even a little bit imply you should be doing Onyxia then.
Have you done this all yourself? PServers WERE overtuned. We just learned how to be better.
We went from playing on Hard (pserver) to Normal or Easy even, and with Layering, people are leveling faster than ever before.
1.12 was not the WoW most people remember. Most of us leveled in a harder patch.
This is fine, its still a fun game, and AQ40/Naxx await.
Ony was never a gear check, ony was also a coordination and threat check.
Wiping on Ony in 3 phases:
Phase 1:
aggro pulled by DPS that results in her turning, breathing on half the raid and the other half being tailwhiped into the whelps
Phase 2:
You lose to many healers to deep breath or uncontrolled whelps
Phase 3:
See phase 1 + tank/tank team that cant manage fear.
She’s never hit hard enough on a decent tank to be a danger with a decent healing team (3+ non-retarded, non-mana wasting healers.
She has no enrage timer, so you can theoretically do phase 3 with a tank, 3 healers, and enough dps to kill the 5 whelps at a time that comes up.
Just reminder, during actual factual vanilla she was killed by groups of less than 8 geared 60s, and was tanked by a priest for the lols
And Warlocks, my guild did this because lock threat was so stupid anyway.
According to this guide: https://classic.wowhead.com/guides/onyxia-lair-attunement-classic , the attunement quest starts in Burning Steppes.
Yea, but warlocks are the tankiest of the casters
The first true gear check in vanilla was Vael the Guild Breaker.
Molten Core, Training you to raid
Lucy:
Manage decursing, crowd control (MC/Adds) and positioning (out range shadow shock)
Mags:
Manage fear, manage range, manage fire on the ground
Geh:
Out of the fire, control the add/tank swap the sunder, decurse
Garr:
Manage adds with ots/banish
Geddon:
Move out of the fire, move away from the group
Shazz:
Manage Threat wipes, decurse
Sulf:
All about add positioning and spell disrupts
Golemag:
Literally the most boring fight in here outside for molten giant pulls
Domo:
Mage/hunter/warrior coordination fight, pay attention to mobs buffs to not nuke yourself
Rag:
positioning and dps, bring 2 GFPP per raid. Use the UBRS FR buff
BWL takes the training wheels off and gives you 3 fights up front to see what you’ve learned
Razorgore is about group coordination, vael is about raw output (1st gear check), and Broodlord is about threat management (the dead warlock special)
Did you complete MC below 60? Or did people who have practiced for thousands and THOUSANDS of hours and meta-gamed with 15 years of accumulated knowledge, devoting their entire life to play World of Warcraft complete a raid that was generally considered pretty easy even back in Vanilla? I’m curious.
Holy CRAP, did Blizzard really build a time machine? You people are complaining just as much as we did in Vanilla… they couldn’t have TRIED to get you guys to be more of an authentic Vanilla playerbase!
This is BFA mentality. UBRS and LBRS are classic cornerstones of the Vanilla experience. Why the faq would I want to play Classic and have everything but the hardest raid be a piece of cake right out of the gate? Why not just give me a 125dps starter weapon with built in exp-gain that lvls along with me. Why? BECAUSE THATS ANOTHER F-ING GAME CALLED BFA!
If we wanted a POS non-mmo garbage game, we could have just subbed to BFA. We didn’t for a reason. We came to Classic expecting Vanilla. We were wrong.
so people resub and get conned into playing retail while they stagger content updates between both games
People forget that it wasn’t Nilla that was hard it was the fact that we had 0 resources for this game. nowadays we have indepth raiding addons, we have google, we have million of people to talk to about this. Back in the day the game was hard because majority of us were idiots and clicked on our spells and didn’t realize what to do 90% of the time. Now we can mid max the game and speed through it.
Man if this thread isn’t the embodiment of “#NoChanges #ExceptTheOnesIWant” then I don’t know what is.
Guess I was confused since I thought Diplomat chained into higher level quests. Still you can get the first quest at level 48. I hardly believe even the Apes guys with BiS for that level could have a chance to take down Onyxia and that’s with 1.12 balance.
If you want a true experience turn off threat meters and offer a dkp bonus for highest dps.
I don’t disagree with you. I don’t think it’s going to be as easy as people think though. But you’re right it’s not the game we played for two years. If guilds are one shotting BWL, then I’ll be pissed. That’s where we left off and I want a challenge. Nax and AQ are where we’ll get our moneys worth. LIke 1% of the guilds finished Nax. If the game was pre 1.12, we would probably never get there. AQ probably the same.
People underestimate how bad players could be.
#nochanges, but blizzard adding layering and put classic on a ‘nerfed everything in anticipation for tbc’ kind of patch.
Honestly, I wouldn’t call this classic so much so as ‘gated TBC’
because the want the game to fail…
