Why Classic will fail

There is a concept know as a “lose leader”. You offer something to people you know then want at a lose to get them into your store.

Also Blizzard 100% wants classic to succeed (as do I even if I never plan on playing it). Because it increases all of their metrics in addition it brings in players both new and old who may be inclined to also give current WoW another try. It is a self contained “game on the side” that allows those playing current to fool around with it and those playing classic to fool around with current.

See, this is the crux of your thread and what you’re claiming is your point. But it’s a prediction that you can’t prove and is based on nothing but conjecture and pessimism. So your “discussion” is, at the end of the day, pointless.

Ergo, you are a troll.

I am happy for you lol. That doesn’t have anything to do with me thinking Classic won’t be this big success some think it will be. It will have some success to start then probably level off and have its hardcore players, but the majority of WoW players aren’t that anymore. :+1: :grinning:

Lol and to the OP.

Post this on The Classic disc.

Scared?

Do you need to cite a harvard backed study on this stuff for the right to post on wow gd? Relax dude people are allowed to think differently.

And for the record just about everything people post is conjecture unless they’re working for blizz and have access to their metrics like sub (which they no longer release)

Meh. Classic will be fine. It won’t be some hugely obscene success story, but it’s certainly not going to fail. It’s catering to a niche playerbase that will enjoy it regardless.

Well, I came here to say that…so I’ll just +1 you and quote it instead.

You truly dont understand the point of classic whatsoever.

There will be people that will, as you say, tour classic. There will be people that will play it on the side, then you have people who are coming to classic because retail truly doesnt do it for them anymore, and theyre gearing up for classic – full time. Whether theres enough interest to keep the servers running is up to blizzard, but dont be mistaken, there are people strictly playing classic as a stand a lone game, because retail is massively overrated (right now). Classic doesnt have QoL, graphical improvements and plenty of other things, but it had the ingredients to work. “Tourist mode” is downplaying it, i know between 8-12 people myself that quit retail and are picking up a sub only for classic, all of which know and played classic, and up to BFA.

put on your gnomish thinking cap: imagine if you will, what comes after vanilla? and what comes after that. and after that. and how do you keep it all relevant ?

answer: you make the player level thru it all to get to the newest old expac. love wotlk? gotta play thru classic, get level 58 so you can go thru the portal. level thru tbc and get level 68 so you can ride the boat to northrend.

Well good for you and said 8-12 people.

I’m still considering it a tourist mode, and blizzard considers it a tourist mode.

Sure some people will decide being perpetually frozen in a ridiculously old game, terrible bugs, awful graphics, and boring gameplay and all, to be somehow compelling and exciting, but I don’t see it.

And blizzards not got a ton of faith in it either.

What does that have to do with anything? Blizz has never said anything about releasing more then Classic as far as I know.

Niche Player 4 Life!

Oh the humanity! :scream:

Sure, but most people aren’t making ridiculous claims like yours.

Maybe you actually believe it. I doubt it, but if so you have my pity.

just saying, the content doesnt have to become stale since the expacs can be added as stand alone games, that have to be unlocked at appropriate levels. so people will always be leveling thru classic and tbc, etc.

I can see them making TBC classic or similar if it’s successful enough.

Oh I imagine Classic will have enough niche players to keep it going but that is about it.

Hopefully it does well because that is a good thing for Blizz.

Have you forgotten the lessons of Jurassic Park? Dinosaurs dominated the world for hundreds of millions of years. Bringing them back today, would only introduce the most successful fauna of all time into a milquetoast environment. They might drive us to extinction.

Classic had a quality to it that was seriously addictive. From the three talent trees and the myriad ways talents could be put together, to the crazy effort needed to do anything and the resultant sense of accomplishment, Classic was the most successful MMORPG and, maybe, video game of all time. It ruined many lives.

I may not play it because allowing the Devil into your life is a dangerous thing. That said, it will not fail. It may kill WoW as we know it, but it will not fail.

Continuing to repeat the phrase “blizzard considers it a tourist mode” doesnt actually mean thats how they feel.

Its funny, BFA has better graphics, more QOL improvements, yet its done nothing to wow its playerbase. Story is complete garbage, classes are dull, and content? Lol. I mean, i get it, classic doesnt have LFR (tourist mode) so thats a huge knock. This idea the bugs made classic unplayable is total exaggeration. Oh well, its not for everyone. Classic wont reward afking through raid tiers, so naturally it’s understandable it doesnt click with everyone.

Blizz has never given any indication that they plan on releasing anything more then Classic, so I wouldn’t get my hopes up lol. :grinning:
