Because it was engineered to fail.
The issue is obvious. If a game like classic which cant be monetized beyond the subscription succeeds, then that sets a precedent for future game development in a direction they do not desire to go because of the lack of monetization potential.
It proves current game philosophy is sub par which is reputation damaging.
If you think a multi billion dollar game industry doesn’t have lobbyists and special interests, you are not paying attention.
There’s a reason why its
-buggy
-released when summer ends so hype is diminished
-no mention of servers
-no mention of forums for servers/classes/guild recruitment
-buggy
-bugged animations
edit:
Wheres the advertisement for a game that was literally a phenomenon back in the day with millions of people playing it?
Also the fact that classic won’t have a $39-$59 price tag they are basically developing the game for free. Hoping people will resub. They probably already figured out the people who will be playing classic already have a subscription.
I don’t see a giant lift in new subscribers because of this and also the lack of marketing. Classic is definitely competing with their current expansion and projects in development.

The tinfoil does not work with your skin tone, darling.
Also, Classic will fail because it’s a 15 year old game.

Haha I like the memes guys but I have yet to see a reasonable response to my main thesis:
If anyone has an intelligent response I’m willing to have a dialogue

BfA has failed first…
… and Classic topic over there ---------->

If classic fails it will be because the community that made it awesome no longer exists, not because of the game itself.

Your main thesis is obvious trolling and therefore not worth an intelligent response.

Yeah because vanilla wasn’t buggy when it was live. Jesus, how deluded are you? Did you all really forget just how buggy it really was are your rose tinted glasses that thick?

classic could be buggy, late to the party, missing shop features, but it’d still be popular.

If someone presents an idea you don’t agree with, it’s not trolling.
You’re just incapable of handling dissenting opinions
I don’t know if Classic will fail or not, but this is the problem with your theory.
The subscription brings in a ton of revenue. Classic is a relatively cheap game to develop. The content was already done a long time ago. If it works and they get hundreds of thousands of people to pay $15/month for several years, that’s lots of almost pure profit. If it doesn’t work, they haven’t lost that much.

So your point is that Blizz is spending millions to produce a game knowing the revenue model can’t support it?
Or maybe your point is they are spending millions to produce a game they want to make fail on purpose do destroy a profitable revenue model they don’t like for reasons?
Are you making a point?
Do you have a basic understanding of how the world works? I’ll answer this one for you : no
