FF14 levels 1-60 disagree. That is a horrible dumpster fire that I bet most new players don’t make it through.
How on earth have I been stirring the pot?
I can go over my viewpoints and posts:
1: calling dracthyr how they are. Low range, immobile and awful to play while also being gangly and skinny with terrible models.
2: Thinking gatekeeping items from newer players is stupid.
Apparently that’s stirring the pot to think a 25 yard range squishy caster with awful defenses is awful to play? Also that the “mobile” tag slapped onto it is a joke?
The best thing a new player can do is join the game with a friend(s).
It’s more so that it’s just not gonna be a common enough occurrence in the game, on top of the fact that most new players don’t go around asking everybody where they got their cool stuff as even when it’s not a time limited item you’re just gonna get told a location you have no idea what it is(or told you need to be a much higher level).
WoW has a lot of problems for new players, time limited items just really aren’t of any significance here.
They do suck for other reasons, though FOMO is also unfortunately effective at keeping people around.
Contrary to popular belief, not everybody’s life revolves around obsessing over magical limited time pixels. Most people go “cool” and move on.
Yeah that’s why people pay insane amounts of money for carries in content for mounts/AOTC.
Absolutely massively not true.
Not wanting to play a game when you see a ton of unobtainable items is a perfectly valid reason to quit. You can disagree with that all you want but lets not equate that to mental illness.
Made it to level 30 and just couldn’t keep going lol
I thought Blizzard cracked down on those RMT scams. I could be wrong.
As someone who has logged in recently the channels are still bombarded with them.
Unless that changed in the past 2 days the spam is outrageous.
New players in the MMO market are uncommon, because the core demographic doesn’t want the changes you’d have to make to appeal to low attention span neo-gamers.
Modern games are low effort slop that’s thrown together with the understanding that their customers will buy it, play it for a month or two. And then run off to the “new thing”.
MMOs, at least traditional MMOs, demand time investment and commitment that you’ll never convince those types of players to give.
Hmm I will take your word for it. I got all those general/trade channels turned off.
Ah yes, I’m sure new players care very much about limited time items they don’t even know exists.
Imho never take my word for it, also it might be the fact I’m on popular servers. But for sure on malganis and other servers the spam was huge.
Let’s face it, the only Mage Tower skin people would “quit” over is the Green Flame glaives. And who even plays Demon Hunter unironically.
Ah yes, the seemingly loved “new players are all blind, deaf, dumb stupid and will never find out” argument.
Just like how werebear was for druids for years. New players never ever learned about that.
I have more than 375 unique companion pets and nearly 400 mounts. There are not a ton of mounts I cannot obtain, there are a tiny handful. Yes, obsessing over that is a sign of mental illness.
The real one is still unobtainable.
… but FFXIV has wide swathes of content that are unavailable to new players, namely a couple mounts and tons of achievements and titles from 1.0, and tons and tons of PvP related stuff. Not to mention certain seasonal and crossover event stuff.
If you are going by that logic then playing this game and making that comment is a sign of mental illness. You are not being cute with that response.
