I mean just go play games that cater to your wishes, theres a lot I dislike about wow but time gated items are something I love.

the fact that you think ffxiv is better for new players makes me think you’ve never played the game.
the reason 1-60 is free trial is because they know the questing is a chore.
same reason you can buy a main story quest skip.
if you like teleporting to a guy and talking to them and then teleporting to a different guy and talking to them and then teleporting to a different guy and talking to them then yeh its great! almost as fun as reading the phone book!
who needs game play when you have the best questing anyone has ever seeeen!!!1!!! they are so good you don’t even need to use your buttons!!

Half of the ones your talking about were 1.0 items given to players who stuck around before and after they re made the mmo and the other half are ranked pvp and collab event items
Not the same as one or two random pve rewards being unavailable because of reasons like the slime cat and black proto

Every single person I’ve had start the game in the last few years quit before reaching max once they realized all the hoops they have the jump through before being able to actual participate and be anywhere near competitive at end game.

I love how people think there isn’t any real new players when there are you people just don’t have the actual raw numbers from blizzard and just to assume that there is none. And plus dragonflight is the first modern expansion to be that super new player friendly.

Well, dragonflight has dropped the vast majority of those design philosophies and system and borrowed power philosophies.
I agree, which is awesome! I totally appreciate and applaud that!
But the huge massive problem is in spite of that obviously positive set of changes there are still these lingering festering relics of an age best left in the dirt.
This is still an mmo and a game so yeah expect roadblocks.
FFXIV has “Dragon” people
WoW now has Dragon people
WoW clears FFXIV on that alone

I am a new player hi! I played some BFA and then left and came back 2 months ago or so.
My only frustrations were unlocking allied races and attempting to get a class mount. And the only time gating I felt was 2 days when I had the eye of the jailor still in the maw.
I consider myself casual and within the past couple months I feel like gearing up wasnt a huge problem personally. With some more time I think I coulda started to have some actual nice stuff too.
I remember in BFA trying to unlock vulpera was a time gated slog but right now at the end of SL I did not encounter much of that.
