Hi! It’s great to have you around
I do want to point out that there’s some confusion. The OP is referring to transmogs, mounts and storylines that are not obtainable anymore. They meant “time-limited” so I understand the confusion.
Since you are a new player, I am very curious to hear your thoughts on whether not being able to obtain some mounts, such as the Violet Spellwing, or being able to experience storylines from Pandaria and Draenor, has impacted your view of the game.

If the Violet Spellwing is that very colorful sparkly bird mount I noticed it in Org when a player flew near me on it.
I looked it up immediately and after learning it wasnt something I could get anymore it was simply a “aww dang thats a bummer” moment and then I moved on.
I should say though I am not a mount collector. But I DO LOVE collecting and increasing my toy collection! If there was a toy I could no longer obtain I would be more frustrated or sad but it wouldnt be a deal breaker and would continue to play.
I do however find myself constantly saying “wow Pandaria must have been a great expansion I wish I could have been here for that!” More examples of that being old raids that seemed interesting (seige of orgrimmar im looking at you)
But I have a mountain of things to do right now I feel. Enough that I more rarely hit interest in items no longer around.
Sorry I misunderstood the OP, Im usually much better at reading comprehension I swear >_<

Really, just the other day my friend said they couldn’t play because the Immortal title was unavailable…

Oh it’s all good! It’s great to hear your perspective. I wish I was around for MoP too. I will say I think it’s still very shady that a world boss is locked off from people who didn’t complete the Wrathion story. That means those who weren’t around missed out on the story, the cloak, and access to a world boss. Still, I’ve managed to swallow it and move on, but if those came back I wouldn’t hesitate to grab’em!
Now, not to spoil the fun, but there are toys that are unobtainable too and tied to events that were removed from the game
Have a peek on the “Unobtainable” section in https://www.wowhead.com/guide/toy-box-guide-and-collection-tracking-5908#other
The list is not very large fortunately, but they are out there
Really? Because FFXIV just tossed those event items into their Mogstation for you to buy. So, I guess spending more money is new player friendly?
Also, that game is no better than this game when it comes to new players.

haha the 12 string guitar toy makes me drool. and if it plays what I think it does that most certainly gives me envy. The Sylvanas music box being one of my more cherished toys gives an idea at why.
It also took you mentioning the Wrathion story and boss and cloak for me to be aware that was even a thing, but can very much understand your perspective on that. Heres to hoping that some select things will be earnable again! (reading about that out of lore curiosity though!)
imho if it wasnt attached to a specific celebration or theme (like a anniversary gift) it should be fair game to return to be earned.
one can dream
You guys need to sign up as guides. I swear never does any new player in Newcomer chat say “I can’t get the mop cloak? I’m leaving!” No. They type “wave to gor’groth” in newcomer chat all day. Don’t speak for them. Not until you’ve met tjem.
Also “nice heals”, “no that way” and other random crap because we have to show them how to use chat channels. “No sweety type /I nice heals”
I returned sometime during Legion and did the entire MoP story sometime after I came back. Well, I did what was still available. The story ended on the Timeless Isle at Wrathion. You’re left with “Here’s this human-looking thing named Wrathion” with no further context. There was a major storyline that used to follow and develop Wrathion, but that was removed back when MoP was current
If you ever play through the Draenor story, you’ll also get clued in on a major portion of that story being removed too. Once you’ve done everything you can, you’ll get summoned to Khadgar’s tower where he has “something very important” to discuss with you. Except, there is nothing to do, because that storyline was also removed. You also never learn why you go from being friendly with Cordana Felsong in Draenor, to killing her in a Legion dungeon.
It would be nice to at least see the story put back into the game. The rewards can be replaced with vendor trash for all I care, I’d just like to experience the actual story bits for myself. But if it doesn’t happen, then oh well, life moves on and there’s other things to do

I am in total agreement with you on this then yes.
Appreciate you explaining more in detail too, I may end up hitting those dead ends myself one day.
Its a confusing thing when they put in a lot of work on content and story only to cut it into pieces, and I would not be surprised if it was in the name of saving time or money as well.

Not the reason, the actual reason this game cannot attract new players is that new players can’t get invited to do M+'s and raids so they are essentially cut off from end game content because they don’t already have a way in.
This community is just the absolute worst when it comes to allowing players to participate.
I think new players should be given a challenge. I think new players should be rewarded for their efforts and desire to explore azeroth.
I don’t think Azeroth even gives new players the desire to explore. By the time they’re done a few zones they’re ready to hop on the treadmill and start “the grind.”
The game catering to the harcore/1% of players which makes the game casual unfriendly for the new player/casual crowd that have to compete with decade old game veterans who expect them to be at their lvl or face toxicity.
That is because story has never once mattered in WoW. Devs don’t care about it, most players don’t care about it. Really why bother caring when no one else does.
It doesnt help that with this latest reset the 50-60 grind was made much longer. Its about twice as long to get from 50-60 than it was a week ago, honestly think Blizz should have left the quicker exp gains in the game, def makes new players get into DF faster.
Pretty sure it’s the player base and not the game mechanics. In ff14 if you doing content with a group and have to go afk or make a mistake there isn’t a kneejerk no though reaction of “kick them”.
Bringing back time gated items does not all of a sudden make the game more friendly or welcoming to new players. I don’t know why so many people don’t understand that gameplay will always come first and that’s one of many primary reasons why the game has gone downhill
Which im glad for. Hopefully players who just joined the game can just enjoy the game and not worry about squat
Only thing left is making leveling feel less of a chore and more engaging and i think we should be good
They already nerfed the leveling by nearly 60% or above.
wow has a worse rep then league for toxic people. try getting into a pug raid as a newer player? how about a pug m+ group? oh you dont know what raider io is eh well let us tell you how bad you are. try and find arena partners as a new player?
people will try to get better but the community as a whole makes it rough and its a gamble if that player finds good friends to play with or not before they quit

I 100% am on board with the return of any and all removed content/items from the game. Anything and everything in the game should be acquirable and even made easier overtime, but let’s not delude ourselves into believing old removed mog items are the reason new people don’t want to play.
The simple fact is any long-standing game that requires anything past the ticket to entry cost to play is going to be a hard pass for most people. Even if WoW is objectively very quick to level and get up to a point to where you can at least do queue endgame content, the simple fact of the matter is that even that bit of an ask is far more than people are willing to spend/risk blindly on the game especially when most any other current and relevant game is pick up and play.
It already takes a pretty specific individual to be drawn to an MMO in the first place…now tack on the “knowledge” that you’ll be playing against/with people whose LITERALLY spent more time on this game than many others have their actual careers and that there is just no way to “catch up” to players with that knowledge and experience and it becomes even more of a hard pass even if, again objectively speaking, WoW has very much transitioned to a play the patch type of gameplay mode.
