Why bring a melee hunter to ST next phase?

The only reason I’m playing SoD is for melee hunter.

Ranged hunter is simming slightly better than melee hunter.

Eh at least they might’ve closed the gap somewhat. I’m hoping it stays that way even with gear.

I didn’t check logs but you can see ranged hunter went up slot of ranks.

Is that because they were some of the first classes in the race to world first to actually do the raid (Since Hunter is strong in general to level) or is that because they are actually good now?

I’m willing to bet it might be somewhere in between. I think after 2-3 weeks of raid logging we will have a much clearer picture…I just hope to god that these ranged Hunters aren’t simming with spell power gear.

Also I think Ranged Hunter and Hunter in general is slightly gimped DPS wise right now due to the Frenzy bug.

Melee hunter looks to be fine. Hopefully ranged hunter isn’t garbage.

I think only time will tell, but Frenzy Bracers are bugged currently and only proccing off of claw/bite so that’s fun LOL

Yea, from what someone said above in the thread they are saying Ranged Hunter is “simming” right behind melee Hunter. But like I said I’m not 100% sure about the validity of it.

Like was the Ranged Hunters using Spell power gear? Is it only because we have so many Hunters at 50 due to Hunters leveling pretty quickly solo? I’m just not 100% sure.

I hope this spell power gear garbage is cleaned up with scaling of that is it.

I hope Blizzard fixes the RAP scaling on Traps and Serpent sting at 60…like they can’t keep bandaiding it with Runes that don’t allow that kind of scaling. It’s so weird considering Shamans, Pallies, and Rogues all now have Runes that either give spell power based off Attack Power, or completely convert their abilities to ALL scale off Attack power etc.

I can’t believe they haven’t done this for Hunter yet consider 50% of our abilities scale ONLY off spell power.

Base damage vs scaling

Hunters get a lot from 40 to 50. But they still wont scale.

As raid gear goes out ranged hunters will drop fast.

Melee will drop as well.

Also the huge buff to tsa still benefits melee more than the hunter.

Havent mathed out the tsa buff for lvl 50 yet, but at lvl 40 before p3 launched, 150 bonus rap was roughly only 25 dps overall.

The main issue with ranged hunter is a huge lack of scaling. High bas3 damage, horrible scaling.

Available logs show ranged hunter considerably under melee hunter.

And ranged will drop from middle of the pack (where it is now) as people gear.

Because they still didnt fix the lack of scaling.

Its almost entirely base damage holding hubters up right now and having less reliance on hit ratting.

Once Rogues are geared and hit capped we will blow these hybrid dogs out of the water.

I mean that’s what sims had with bis gear, what logs show have nothing to do with that.

You still wouldn’t put a Hunter into the melee group, it’s better to have an extra melee in there to benefit from Windfury than it is to have a Ranged Hunter giving a small AP boost.

Trueshot Aura is extremely useless, unless you’re trying to funnel one single person in the raid to get that one singular melee a max parse.

It isnt small anymore. 200 ap at 50.
