Why argue for dual spec?

And they have kept that promise very well with boosts, Chronoboon Displacer, same faction battlegrounds, the list goes on and on.

wow. Like are you for real?

Maybe. I for example play a druid and have gear for 3 specs of it and tank/heal/dps whenever I like to. The biggest argument I hear from people is the 50g back and forth cost. I dont understand that as farming gold is really easy. I just never seen a proper argument here for it to be introduced, thats why I believe in pvp it would actually do something, for pve I believe it would only serve lazy people.

So basically your winning argument is:

Let’s throw the baby out with the bath water.

I mean, interesting. Not really what I’d call a bright perspective, but hey.

Nope, more we gave the baby a rubber ducky already and he likes it so why not give him a submarine as well.

And why should blizzard care about the baby who is crying just because someone else has a fun toy?

No, it’s not like that, because the whole point was that just because they made other changes I disagree with doesn’t mean I then thereby approve of all further changes.

That’s not how it works.

How does that make sense if the crying one has the same toy given to them?..

But they don’t want it so WHAWHAWHAWHA someone else is using it.

By this logic why wouldn’t garrisons work in tbc?

Titan forge?

Mythic+?

Dual spec could be forced to “work” with tbcc. But that doesn’t mean it should.

Just like you can force water and oil to mix if you mix it fast enough. But after a little while they will separate again and make a indication that they shouldn’t be forced to be mixed because it will be clear they are not meant to mix after enough time passes.

For the record, I don’t believe any change to add dual spec or refundable talents is needed at all.

But if I had to grade the options in terms of what I would like most vs least, I would like in order of preference

  1. things to remain as they are now
    over
  2. Free respecs in rest areas
    over
  3. Dual spec being added

I don’t think the convenience change is at all needed, but if you’re going to make a change, ACTUALLY MAKE ONE. Not the compromise that didn’t work that dual spec was. And hell no for making me pay extra for it or making it more inconvenient because it’s an expac early or some garbage.

I didn’t ask about titan forging or mythic+, and one huge difference right off the bat is that changing specs already exists in TBC and is not a completely new mechanic.

I asked specifically why dual spec does not work.

Can you answer why Dual Spec as a mechanic does not work in TBC?

Agreed. Dual spec is an arbitrarily prescriptive solution to a broader “problem” (if you consider the way the game was intentionally designed as a problem).

It demonstrates a lack of creativity, IMO.

Even if DS costs 1000g, that means players with less many can’t afford it and won’t be able to use it. Then the DS’ers will become the new Anti-DS’ers, telling these players “wHaT, aRe YoU tOo PoOr?!” I fail to see how that fixes the problem.

So you want a better solution?

Yeah, like what OP suggested.

Based on the leading pro-DS arguments, unlimited free respecs is objectively a more eloquent solution.

The only reason I can see why people would want DS specifically is because - ironically - they want to preserve authenticity by using a WoTLK feature instead of a bespoke solution.

Dual spec cannot work in tbc because it was never in tbc. It’s not part of tbc.

Dual spec isn’t just changing specs, it’s changing specs at will with no cost between 2 set talent templates.

Dual spec does add a new mechanic to tbc. Multiple Saved talent and hit bar templates.

But since you insist I provide a reason why dual spec can’t work in tbcc, I challenge you to give me a reason for mythic plus not working. Dungeons aren’t a new thing, mythic plus just adds to them. I’m using your logic of changing specs aren’t a new thing, dual spec just adds to them.

So if you can’t provide one reason why mythic plus can’t work in tbc then it should be added right?

I’ll give you a reason why dual spec can’t work in tbc if you give me a reason why mythic pays can’t work in tbc. Both are just adding onto existing systems right?

HvH Bg’s were never in TBC, OMG they are Working, check your window for flying pigs and the dead rising from their graves.

Thank you, it seems like you get what I’m trying to say.

If you’ve been making x y z argument about why the freedom is good for the game and healthy and a positive change to make, then the solution of an overly restrictive dual spec DOES NOT SOLVE THE ISSUES YOU ARE ASKING TO BE ADDRESSED.

It is a garbage half measure meant to appease people who cannot be appeased. It is people with no vision forming an argument they think will be more palatable, rather than having convictions that these problems actually should be solved.

And it honestly hurts their argument more than it helps.

Because they can, have, and should do better.

Respecs don’t cost gold in retail. Why should they here?

For sure, dual spec is not the perfect solution.

But it is an improvement and as a known solution why not?

If I was somehow in favor of compromising for some solution to people who endlessly whine about the respect cost:

I would rather the respec cost be zero than add dual spec.

Luckily I don’t have to make this sort of compromise, but take that for what it’s worth.

That is exactly my position as well.

There are no respecs in retail, because the talent tree system doesn’t exit in retail.
