Why are WoW players so spiteful?

You can’t expect a new player to be able to catchup 15+years of content. Which is also why they’re cutting the leveling a lot next expansion.

There’s nothing wrong with time limited rewards, the problem is there’s not enough of them actually. What is there that BFA will have given to us? nothing, the essences rank 4 will be gone by next expansion because you can’t use essences.

What content? It’s a good thing to rip out most of the story and all the important events because “new players are idiots who would never have caught up anyway”?

Any more time-limited rewards and there’d be no reason for new players to stay. Everything cool would be gone with even more jealousy mongers working to make those new players feel bad about playing the game.

“Hey, that’s cool! How do I get that?”
“You don’t. It’s gone from the game.”
“How about that?”
“That’s gone too. Sucks to be you.”

Seriously, any time the game is designed to encourage existing players to make new players realize it sucks to be them is just a big fail.

I used to help in such endeavors but frankly I got tired of it being such a one-way street, where raiders help the community and then the community takes a dump on the raiders a few weeks later.

To wit:
July: (Raiders) We’re going to get a bunch of you guys these limited-time mounts!
August: (non-Raiders) Let’s put up the new herbs for 500g each and screw the raiders big time! BWA HA HA!

I got my Ashbringer and it was the coolest thing ever in the entire game. I don’t care how cheap it was or fan servicey, I got the damn Ashbringer so I don’t care that Yoloman the Zandalari pally can walk in and get it and it’s not diminished.

Because, I need something to be angry about.

I guess I’ll just have to strongly disagree.

Limited time deals have proven that they work.

And I don’t believe anyone saying that they make new players discouraged.

If anything there’s not enough of them for them to feel like playing now.

Also that made me laugh a lot.
Because it point that your problem is people becoming jealous and you’re putting the fault on the other guy xd

That’s not looking at the positives of having some time limited events. They generate a lot of current player interest when they’re on going.

And it’s just such a tiny percentage of things which are removed. It’s just they normally stand out because they are big hyped up at the time events.

Nah, would be better for me if we could all get Black Anquererieeyeq bug, blizzard polar bear mount with muloc, etc.

I think they should put stuff like that in the store, after a few years have passed ( so now, for those two. )

I dont mind them removing the rep part from allied races, but I’d like them to remove the dungeon part since I’ve had paragons with all those reps; the hard part is heroic mechagon with strangers.

I’ve bought all the store mounts you can, so wish they’d do that old mounts on the store thing.

So the guy who is telling some new player that he’s lazy for not having subscribed before he ever heard of the game is in the right and entitled to treat new players like trash? And somehow that’s good for the game?

Keep stroking that ego. It isn’t bloated enough yet.

And one of the reasons these are so popular among existing players is they give new players who aren’t yet invested in the game a reason to never become a long-term player.

Not really. They continue to remove old content for no reason. And more things than ever are being removed, often with no notification in advance. That way even existing subscribers can feel the pain.

It depends on the type of limited time thing we are talking about. If it’s a mount or a weapon cosmetic or transmog. Go for it, I love that type of limited time stuff. What I hate is when Blizzard puts in limited time stuff that is very, very important to the story. Take the burning of Teldrassil for example, if you are a new player you will see the siege of lordareon as the first thing in BFA. But the Burning of Teldrassil was removed with the pre-patch, you can no-longer do it. Which means a new player can get all confused over what actually happened because moments like that are taken out.

Interesting interpretation.

I must be missing something on the 2nd point? Why would existing players care about what new players think about the limited time pre patch mounts? (How do we even know their opinions).

Let the hate flow throught you. :man_shrugging: xd

Also that doesn’t entitle old players to treat new players like trash, it just entitle old players to old rewards.

But yea you might need some belittlement, maybe you’re asking for it.
So go along
toss a coin

The problem there is that it was a pre-expansion events. I agree they should have put the cinematic in-game another way, but like all pre-expansion events the content will be gone.

Not an interpretation at all. i’ve seen that exact thing said in many threads. “It’s your own fault you weren’t subscribed when that thing was available, because you’re lazy.” Yes, the word “lazy” has been used numerous time.

It doesn’t, but they do? Which yes, they do.

Suit yourself. Go ahead and treat some noob like trash if it makes you feel better. It’s on me.

The only things I can think being removed in BfA is going to be the 2 pre patch mounts, Bruce mount (probably), and void Drake. Not going to count the seasonal M+ mount since that probably will continue in the same way there are seasonal Gladiator mounts forever.

I just want things that were somewhat difficult to obtain to keep some of their integrity. If they were able to bring them back it’d have to be sort of like the brawler guild as something brought back part way through an expansion with a little kick to it.

For instance, one of the main things people bring up wanting brought back is mage tower stuff. While they were outgearable to take most of the edge off of the fights, if they were brought back in BfA with 120’s going in, you’d just spend 10 minutes farming nethershards, go in mash 1 or maybe 2 buttons and half the time spend in there would be the death RP.

Yes, people would be able to get a neat staff or sword, but It’d have about as much value as the bronze drake does now.

A moment’s contemplation would provide the actual answer, that it’s nothing to do with WoW and just the fact that humans in general are malevolent little creatures who gain satisfaction from where they sit on a social pyramid.

People can act this way no matter the issue, this issue particuliary is not worse than others. There’s already a lot of catchup for new players and a new leveling experience in Shadowland to catter to them. It’s good enough.

The entire culture around gaming right now is full of bitterness and near overwhelming negativity. Nearly every new release is mired in this slew of edgy meme lords running around screaming and crying about everything from SJW influence, to China nonsense, to greedy devs, the always classic “everything was so much better when I was 17”, it’s literally the entire community.

Trying to pin this, too, on blizzard is just ridiculous.
