Whenever someone asks for something so small on here, you’ll immediately see all these socially awkward forum regulars talking about what they’ve earned in previous expansions that Blizzard has screwed them out of since…by giving it away to all, or removing features from certain items they worked for.
It’s weird man. Enjoy your damn game and stop focusing on what other people do in a video game…A VIDEO GAME!!!
Edit: Oh light dammit you guys. I have as many unobtainable items as anyone here and I’ve not even kept an active sub for the better part of a calendar year since 08. If some of you would just take a month off you’d realize how much more meaningful people make this game out to be than it really is.
Most of you would choose to let the servers close for good than share half of your exclusive stuffs. You all know this is true.

There’s a lot of bitterness in the community that’s for sure, i think Blizzard has created and fostered this narrative, it’s all about the haves and the have-nots, creating exclusivity and envy to drive people to play more and want more.

Hmn that makes sense. I always assumed they were just upset cause they missed Matlock.
I’ve got quite a few things that are no longer available and I’d gladly share them with everyone if I could.

Because this was a once great game that was turned into a fantasy themed slot machine simulator, now designed to appease stockholders with predatory FOMO practices in mind rather than an immersive gameplay experience. It’s a tragedy and many of us are bitter as all hell that such a great gaming company could stoop so low as to fire the majority of their community service and QA departments…

It boils down the how the gearing dynamic works at endgame PvE.
I’m not sure how bad it is competitively on retail but you can see it more in Classic when things like Loot Councils and DKP dictate what you can and can’t have. I can see it working for some groups but for others it can create a lot of competitive friction when everyone is chasing that next upgrade for that bump in performance.

I want corrupted ashbringer, scrab lord, hand of a’dal, and every challenge mode set/weapon because I pay $15 a money for content. I want it now!

I’m of two minds on certain things.
Yeah, maybe prestige items shouldn’t be locked away forever, and there should always be ample prestigious stuff to get in the current expansion
otoh the few prestige items I have like the gold cm mode stuff from WoD took some legitimate effort under a time constraint since I went for it right at the end of the expansion and kind of like that not everyone has the big ol fire sword or whatnot.
I’ll stop you right there. In this case, small is an opinion. You may think it’s small, others may not.

Some things could be introduced back without much fuss but let’s be honest about what most people are asking to come back.
Like mage tower skins. That should never come back because it was advertised as a time limited thing.
Either be here for that content or miss out.

Same here, i got a lot of flak from my fellow mount collectors a while back because i was saying that all of the old TCG mounts should be put into the BMAH loot table seeing as they’re becoming almost impossible to find (i already have them all) but a lot of people were upset that it would lower their value or make them less exclusive. Same goes for the old ZG mounts (I have them too), i advocated for them to be returned to the new ZG as 1% drops to give people something to farm and the other mount collectors with them acted like i was proposing that we execute their first born or something lol
I’m all about giving people more stuff to do and i don’t care if that makes some of the things i have less rare.

Cause I’m off work tomorrow, many things are still closed here, and I hate sitting around.
Picture raid night but your computer won’t turn on cause someone slung a dilder at your monitor.
Are you referring to me being irritated about pathfinding?
I recently got Draenor pathfinding because I wanted the luxury of flight. Thats a lot of time and effort getting flushed down the toilet when I could have gone the lazy route and just done nothing at all.
What kind of precedent does that send? Don’t bother doing content because eventually it’ll just be handed out for free?
I’m not mad at people getting it for free necessarily. Im mad that I put time and effort into something and get nothing to show for it. A complete waste.

Agreed. The most egregious offenders are the legendary questlines that were removed from MoP and WoD, I think.
If folks didn’t play during those expansions they are missing out on a significant portion of the narrative of each expansion just so that Blizzard could artificially make the capes and what-not more “prestigious.”
I doubt anybody at all cares about those, maybe aside from their fots, but I disagree with the principle of removing content in-general.

While i agree with a lot of this, it doesn’t mean we should turn on each other as players. The bitterness needs to be aimed squarely at Blizzard/Activision, not a other people who are just trying to play the current bastardized version of the game we once loved.

I don’t think it is spite. I think folks are tired of spending loads of time to get something and then have Blizzard give it way for nothing. The problem isn’t the players it is the developers who can’t make up their minds.
This sounds like a mage tower thread.
I would love to get the old challenge mode sets and a couple more mage tower appearances… However what is done is done.

Absolutely, great example.
They were removed for no other reason than to keep people subbed and active towards the end of the expansion for fear of missing out on an achievement or feat of strength. Creating a false sense of exclusivity around them was just a smokescreen, nobody gives a damn about whether or not you have a participation reward legendary cloak from an old expansion.

I think Classic has improved people’s attitudes a lot and encouraged a lot more friendly interaction in both versions. But you will always have the weirdos whose internet points are the only thing they have going for them.
