We were literally right there trying to save them the entire time. If Nathanos hadn’t had cutscene untouchability he’d be dead. We never “abandoned” them.
Yeah, don’t think they will step in. I have a feeling they might try to sell it off. Make more money that way in the end. if it starts to go too south. Activision forms my dealing with games. Is it either can them if does not do good or spins them off to some other company. Few remember that they have done this way in 1999. I wish I could remember their first company name before they became activison.
This is confusing.
What happened at Darkshore was awesome for us. Tyrande juiced up on a whatever Elune happens to be, and is now the avatar of a god. She wiped the Forsaken out. And the Night Elves are getting back to our feral and brutal nature. It was about time that we were really unleashed, the Alliance has been holding us back, and now we’ve gone back to the no holds barred badasses we always should have been.
And the undeath thing? That’s… really not any different than Blizzard has always portrayed it. You turn, you usually turn against the people you were with and join those that did it to you. It’s because the necromanic powers that get into you aren’t any different than say when you drink demon blood and get corrupted by Fel. It changes you, and you are more likely to associate with others of your kind. Necromancy and death magic are one of those fundamental powers of the cosmos. And that’s been consistent across most races and the whole story. With the real exception of Worgen who only don’t turn easy because the curse magic that infuses them intereferes with weaker necromancy magic… everyone else reacts pretty much the same. Why would Night Elves be any different?
If anything that’s just consistent story telling.
And we still come out way ahead anyway.
It’s a good question OP, and I was wondering that myself.
If we look at the Forsaken starting area it’s clear that the newly raised are given a choice to follow Sylvanas, perhaps in recent events she has lost this benevolence and has turned instead to raising mind controlled followers, which I suppose is fitting for her character’s recent fall from grace, and I use that term loosely. This action serves to further alienate Sylvanas from the rest of her Horde, as well as give the Alliance another reason to dislike her, not that they needed one. I honestly thought the whole thing was a bit hokey myself.
Tyrande didn’t wipe out the Foresaken.
We walked in with five named heroes: Malfurion, Tyrande, Maiev, Shadris, and Sira. The Horde came in with Nathanos and two Valks. The Horde left with four named Heroes: Nathanos, Valk 1, Sira, and Delaryn. And an army of Night Elf Dark Rangers. Darkshore was 100% a loss any way you look at it.
Also, Sylvanas isn’t supposed to have necromantic control powers. She is not Arthas.
If it means alex and danuser won’t be able to mess with wow lore anymore. I’m all for them selling it off to someone else.
Darkshore was garbage writing at its finest. It wasn’t a victory that the devs try to make it out to be. Most players are seeing that and aren’t being fooled by Tyrandes lukewarm speech. Yet then they want to push that Zuldazar raid is suppose to be payback for teldrassil . Yea not buying it .
I so chuckle at this. You sound like a disgruntled employee. I agree with writing bad. I played enough MMO to say it not the worse I have seen. Looking at D&D. They so butchered it. thank you for laugh. Not meant at you. just what you said.
Necromancy does what necromancy does… it raises the dead and gets them to join their previous enemies. This is just what it does in the Warcraft universe (and most others). It’s really not news. That cosmic power, which again… no different than something like Fel, gets into you, changes you, and you get warped on the other side as a walking corpse.
And, Sira & Delaryn aren’t exactly major heroes. I mean sure, at least Sira was around for a bit, but she showed clear signs of breaking before dying. And Delaryn was just brand new a couple months ago as far as I know, and her hope got broken before death. Either way, they weren’t really a huge deal.
But that Val’kry that we killed? That’s massive. That would have been worth trading Sira, Delaryn, and Maiev for. That’s how much of a major loss that was we inflicted on Sylvanas. So many people on our side gloss over that fact, but if you pay any attention to the lore, you know how bad that is for our enemies. That was a major major win on our side.
And again, Sylvanas isn’t the one raising the dead here, it’s the Val’kyr. The Val’kyr that have clearly been in existence and very powerful for a long long time jacked up with titan watcher powers and maybe infused with the powers of the Lich King depending. So your comment about Arthas and Sylvanas is… a red herring? It doesn’t even make sense. The Val’kyr’s powers don’t stem from Sylvanas. They never have. They only agreed to help her. Because it seems like for whatever reason the Horde is getting tied closer and closer to the cosmic domain of death. I mean, we hear it over and over again that Sylvanas is leading the Horde in the service of Death. I’m pretty sure that’s literal.
Anyway, this thread is full of wild hysterics, completely uncalled for. It’s no wonder so many people think our side is full of people who can’t ever be happy even when we’re given something awesome we have to complain and whine and throw fits. It makes me feel a bit dirty to be on a side so full of incongruous carping.
BFA has been the worst storytelling in WoW, tied with the ending of WoD.
The lore stream was basically the writers patting themselves on the back, not really discussing the Lore. This is a real video on WoW lore: `https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwKcZLdvwXE
The lore stream was a farce.
How far this game and studio have fallen.
The Valk who has literally never been mentioned in a single quest across years of my playing the game. That’s our big win.
It’s a piece of plot armor (I only know that because I talk to the Horde here, they are NEVER mentioned on our side until this quest) that doesn’t even matter because she needs three to self Rez and she still has three.
It was not a victory of any sort. We killed a third of a spare tire and she’s still got a whole one ready. That Valk was 100% worthless.
Lets also not forget the leak for 8.3 said Sylvannas turns the tables on the alliance. Darkshore isn’t a win knowing that in 8.3 Alliance is gonna be knocked down again. From what it sounds like its a massive hit. So don’t let the hype of the nightwarrior scenario get you hyped up to much. It means nothing.
But wasn’t Sylvannas philosophy always about giving her forsaken free will?
at this point, can you even believe her? i bet that was just another facade, or a truth who can be ignored if she want, she is someone who would do that.
So… There is a chance that forsaken, including players, are actually mind-controlled?
Crap writing, backed up by bogus fan theories.
I want to explain this in the best way possible. The night elves who joined us, where forsaken by the alliance and by there god.
The alliance armed with a flying ship and magical portal did nothing to reinforce and prevent the burning of teldrisil. There goddess elune did nothing to truly stop the flames but softened the pain of burning alive. You can say terrible writing and you are legitimate in that criticism but the risen undead elves swapping makes perfect sense.
All of this was created by a snafu in the SI:7 intelligence and to add insult tyranda leaves her people and escapes to stormwind where she can survive. She didnt stay and slaughter the attackers, she left to save her own skin back to her king who sent there army far away.
The rage the elves felt propelled them into the arms of the horde. They want revenge.
I dont know if i missed something but its just clear to me
not all of then, the mind control is not always necessary
It’s definitely the Valkyr.
The Wardens becoming corrupted isn’t all that surprising if Maiev is anything to go by. She was going off the deep end there for a while. I’m still not real certain about her.
It’s possible, but why would a Void Lord (Elune) be creating Naaru?
The main one I have an issue with is Delaryn. Wardens are kinda unstable to begin with
I guess they needed someone to play Sylvanas to the new Arthas (Sylvanas).
It’s also possible it may be used the same way for Death Knights as an introduction/explanation as to why some Dark Rangers break off and go back to the alliance as a hero class.
Yup…Rangers of the Ebon Blade? =D
So can Odyn. Can Helya? Was that the reason for her deal with her?
Some are…maybe this could be used as an explanation as to why they willingly renew the Worgen curse on Night Elves and add them as an allied race?
That would make a lot of sense.
Some tried leaving and Sylvanas murdered them =[
They dont…
Maybe that was her deal with Helya?
Wardens be crazy, yo.
Valkyr.
Last I checked, yellow and blue make green. Oh…wait.
Thank the Light…horrible lady.
And then murdering them when the exercise it?
I mean even in the starting zone the options are serve or go back in the ground.
" As for Sira and Delaryn being raised and joining the Forsaken, that was a “very deliberate choice,” according to Danuser. The team wanted to show various aspects of the Night Elves, as opposed to presenting them as a monolith. We should expect to see them return, too, he says: “These characters are important to the Night Elf culture.”
I want to know what undead night elves joining the Horde tells us about “night elf culture.” Spare me this horrid writing, stop “developing” night elves, and just forget about everything you’ve already done. Just leave it as it is, you can’t fix it - you don’t want to, so you’re just going to make it worse. I was worried about night elves being forgotten when we go against Azshara (literally the night elf queen) but I’m hoping we’re forgotten.
