This is incredibly wishy washy though. One thing counts, but something else doesn’t? What counts and what is just flavor then?
So many crucial things happened in BtS, but none of it matters?

He seriously said that? But…then why is so much of the story not in the actual game?
Because Sylvanas is the being prepped to become Lich Queen - there is a reason they’re taking prisoners in Stormshield and her lap dogs quips “More bodies for the Banshee Queen’s army”.
There is no free will involved.
I also want to say that if I ever have to hear Danuser say “high equity” again I’m going to unsub.
So, what’s his excuse for ignoring previous WoW lore that’s actually in the freaking game?
/cough Vindicaar cough
“It’s too hard to write it in a way that doesn’t give the Alliance absolute dominance over the Horde,” basically.
Then that’s a Lore and race issue. Why would Night Elves be DK’s in the first place if they didn’t want to upset the natural balance of life and death? Shouldn’t they just go off and die somewhere? Wouldn’t be the first time Night Elves (or Blizzard) show their hypocrisy.
If that’s too much then Sylvanas because reasons?
Some form of character development would have been nice to see.
At this point, it just sounds like simple mind-control and Blizzard is setting up Sylvanas as the new Lich Queen.
The thing with lore. Sometimes something comes along and just say that won’t do. A very old saying nothing written in stone. just because they were immune does mean forever. fate has a way of saying, well time to come in and make things interesting. Well, that and most raises are pretty pissed about the whole abandon me thing. If combine with two anything can happen. Therefore, just because you were safe in past, does not mean in future.
For reference look up whole village immune to the plague. To only die a few years later do to a different strain. Kind of interesting read.
FYI. do it on horde side and turn off all but voice. You here that they are beyond piss. feel their god betrayed them. yeah it bad writing. Still that the lame reason.
This I think is the issue. Once they’re resurrected they don’t have much of a choice in the matter. Where else are they going to be accepted as an undead?
Also, I know we have a quest Horde side to kill and rez them, and they don’t all become undead. Some of them do reject it and their spirits go running off. So it’s not like all of the dead NE’s become undead. You could look at it as just the weaker willed ones or something.
Edit: Here’s that quest for any interested. The ones who reject it turn into angry wisps and get away. So this at least made me think it was a decision to become undead or not.
That’s a half-measure they added in after justified nelf outrage on the PTR, to be fair.
They could hang out with the Night Elf Death Knights of the Alliance?
Actually a lot of what is currently live was in response to the PTR outrage. People think that this is acceptable, when in realtiy it only changed because people got angry when this was much worse.
Sylvanas very clearly explained what happened. When she was alive, she was a “fool.”
As far as I understand, the undead aren’t entirely right in the head. Most of them, anyway. They’re bitter, easily angered, pessimistic in a word.
The living have a fear of the undead typically, and undead tend to make their own hell by stewing in frustration and anger over this fact.
I think they band together out if an innate want to belong, and they probably have a skewed preception of right and wrong.
Unfortunate then.
I have a hard time believing that. Haven’t a bunch of the developments in the books been directly referenced in game before?
I’m hopeful there will be more information as the expansion goes on, just would have been nice to see something similar to Lilian Voss.
Tyrande was right there, telling them to fight and not give in, she’s RIGHT THERE and all they can say is “we are forsaken”, she’s not ostracizing them or turning her back on them…this just blows on so many levels.
First of all DK’s and Undead are different things, but they’re not exactly given that choice in the moment. It’s join the Forsaken or die, and in some of the dialogue we get after the quest is over, it becomes clear why those who chose to join the undead did so. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but I suggest doing the quest, or finding a video or something if one exists.
