It’s the fact that there is no affection in the game at all. It’s sometimes in the stories, but not very much either.
I’m not asking for it to be pushed to the front. This isn’t a romance novel, but you can’t just introduce characters who have an implied love interest and then just abandon it.
The best evidence of romance was in a novel I read where they were punishing Garrosh.
Sylvanas went to go visit her sister Vereesa. They were speaking about Garrosh. Sylvanas kept pushing and pushing Vereesa trying to get her to speak about why she was so upset. Why she had such hatred for Garrosh. And finally, Vereesa broke.
She screamed out that Garrosh had killed Rhonin, her husband, and she just broke down into Sylvanas’s arms crying uncontrollably.
This is much different then we see. We never see that in the game. We never see romance being used as a weakness for characters or a strength. All we see is just how many bodies people can pile up.
I do agree,op, that there should be a balance ,one of war and one of love. This game is a reflection of ourselves in a digital world. We are not analytical in our nature but more of emotional based.I don’t know how wow would encompass this.
This is not an anime.
Interpersonal relationships to that extent are not relevant, and there is no precedent of these outwardly displays of affection existing.
The closest was between Arthas and Jaina, and even then, physical intimacy was never expressed.
SwToR actually has the option for romance built into it’s story lines with your crew. I held my breath wondering if my Sith Marauder would ever kiss Malavai Quinn in her story line, he betrayed her trust too, the poop head.
Adore(d) SWToR and love the romance options it was a different kind of game though, it is built on interaction like that and having real conversations. Sadly WoW is not the same.
