I’m still debating whether to go pvp or pve. I suppose I could do both, but I don’t really want to split between multiple toons and servers.
I played on pvp (frostwolf) with this toon through vanilla and most of tbc, switched to pve near the end after the guild I was in fell apart and I had a lot of rl friends on a pve server. I definitely missed the added thrills of a pvp server, even if pve has its benefits as well. Depends on the person I guess.
These days, I have a very stressful and time consuming job as well as a family. Time is way more limited than it was back in the day. To relax completely in the safe world of a pve realm, or throw in the extra danger/stresses/time sucks (although exciting as well) of a pvp realm? Guess I have a little while longer to decide…
They will go on PvE. And if they don’t they will quickly change back to PvE. Trust me. Unless you mean some streamers with 100 or less viewers where nobody will even bother stream sniping – then yeah.
Got no problem with playing PVE “because you want to.” But “get more loot” and “killing bosses with your friends” does not do it for me, personally. As previous posters said, for me, the point of getting more loot and better gear has nothing to do with just killing more scripted bosses – the point is to be better equipped to face the world.
PVP servers will always have that element of danger associated with it. When I leave the castle walls I want to walk out into a big dangerous world. Not one where I have the option of choosing whether or not I get ganked.
I love that feeling too, which is why I’ll flag myself on PVE 99% of the time. To get that rush of danger. The other 1% I’ll be fishing and hell hath no fury like a man’s fishing interrupted.
This is an online video game for christ sake… You are using words like bullying, antagonizing and intimidating as if someone you don’t know, kills your character on an online video game that is about a faction war will have a real effect on your life.
And if it does, the issue is not with the video game. It is with you. If you are that much affected by it, you should try to log out and do something to change your mind.
I will sometimes help a low level enemy by killing a few mobs, or saving him from aggroing some. But I will sometimes kill a low level if I feel like it. I might camp a few towns hoping to lure higher level for escarmouches. If this really upset you, to the point you feel bullied, you should log out and ponder a little bit.
Just can’t keep yourself from us “bad people” can you? You avidly hate on us and rip into us in nearly every PvP-centric thread, for as long as I’ve seen you. And here you are again. In another PvP thread. Pointing out how terrible we all are…again.
…you know…I’m beginning to think you might actually like us more than you want to admit. You just keep turning up.
Admit it…you can’t lie to yourself. Well, only for so long.
You want to rip us apart don’t you?
You just don’t know how. You just need a little practice. Come Rogue with me. Feel what it’s like to stalk the hapless human. He can’t see you. Doesn’t know you’re there…Wait…Not too soon…he has no idea…close…from behind…feel your blood…the wind…you’re alive…for the first time…you are aware of everything around you. He’s bandaging himself…
These guys want to play with streamers, and all the streamers are going PvP.
Don’t get it confused. “Im gonna gank and corpse camp streamers!” is just another way of saying “I too want to play on the server with the popular streamers”.
That’s what all that’s about. But trust me, there’s a ton of us that actively want to avoid that, and that will enjoy rolling PvE or RP instead. We just aren’t as infatuated; so we don’t make a bunch of topics about it. But just wait until launch.
The reason they did away with no pve to pvp transfers and just opened it up was because of faction imbalances. People were rolling on servers with a massive faction imbalance one way or the other, leveling as if it was basically a pve server and then transferring where they wanted. Effectively making the whole it’s so much harder to level on a pvp server crying irrelevant anyways.
