They were great, once. Never again.
I’ve had a negative opinion regarding Blizzard’s quality since 3.2 and knew the writing was on the wall in TBC when they announced their merger. Right now I basically only exclusively play Classic because it took them releasing a 13 year old version of the game to actually put out a quality product.
At best I just play their new games because the launch hype and excitement for the first week or so is addictive. Was the case with MoP, WoD until people realized the game was hollow as all hell, Legion, then also BFA.
They’re good at making things exciting for a week or maybe a month. In terms of long term, nope.
To me, it’s just so sad. This… label… once made the true Warcraft games, original wow, diablo 2, starcraft, etc.
Now we’ll never see anything like that ever again.
Some people seem to think that doesn’t matter.
How about this: play the Blizzard games you like, don’t pay for the ones you don’t.
I’d play retail for a year straight before I’d conisder playing 5 more minutes of Overwatch, for example.
I might not remember what WoW starts for once d4 comes out, etc
Nope, definitely won’t. They cast their lot on a losing horse of trying to gut away anything that made the game enjoyable in terms of long play in favor of people subbing for a month every content patch and clearing out that same month.
We’re also unlikely to see any of the older elements like the idea that raiding should be a continuous journey where your character overcomes increasingly difficult obstacles to then overcome bigger hurdles, except that alienates people who want to spend 15 dollars a month for a game they play 10 minutes a day.
Once Classic evolves to Cataclysm I’m basically done.
And we will then once again bear witness to the decisions that began the great decline of World of Warcraft.
I’m kinda starting to think that it’s time for a second gaming crash. I think it’s time to look towards indie developers for what we need.
I’m not sure who or what that looks like but, I think that’s about where we are.
There will be no gaming crash lol, hell even EA released an amazing game recently.
You just don’t like where gaming is going, and it’s ok to have an opinion, just don’t expect everyone to share it
Fallen order is a nothing game.
It’s like a 5/10.
Say what you will.
Your opinion is not shared by many
You also couldnt play the game on launch because the servers were down and single player needed to be online. I never went from so stoked to play a game to never touching it again so fast.
D2 is one of the greatest games ever made, next to it, D3 is a joke, followed up by diablo for phones, maybe D4 wont be trash but I think GGG is going to shi- on blizz in this space.
The gaming industry doesnt care one iota about preserving the history of video games, like early film, a ton of important history will be lost to time because of the people who make it just don’t about it outside of how it makes them money right now.
Maybe you think predatory mechanics and loot boxes are the best thing to ever happen in gaming, but most don’t feel this way.
Brevik isn’t some God, many of the ideas that made Diablo great didn’t even come from him, they came from blizzard proper.
He wanted to make the game TURN based and fought hard against action combat
Literally anything and everything blizzard has made recently (in the last ten years) has been trash.
Thing is, they’re not the only ones. Even almighty Nintendo is trash now. You only need the ability to look just a scratch beyond the surface to see what’s coming.
This is true of all but a few companies and devs.
Oh man am I afraid to open that little bag if addiction called PoE. I have it on steam. It looks back at me. I logged in and ran around a beach, and suddenly realized then and there that I needed to stop.
Thank you for your thoughts. I hope you are wrong about D4 but those are some concerns I share, too.
Loot boxes aren’t great, but they’re also going the way of the dodo.
Gameplay is all that matters to me
They’ve been extremely open about the d4 development and just announced possible huge system changes, I’m cautiously optimistic
How is your leg doing, by the way?
Some butthead stole it
Whatever.
Because an always online mmo version of diablo open world trash is a good call.
Yep.
