I don’t mind the crystals too much because they are rewarded from virtually everything. The mission tables, which I stopped doing those (lol), random farming, daily quests… which I also like how they connected daily quests, crystals, and reputation together, to make it more transparent and less grindy… then you also receive more crystals than usual from elites and rares, which I don’t mind those 10 fragment quests either, being as elites and chests are everywhere.
Really not a problem at all. I got that mount in a reasonable amount of time, and still picked up high reputation points in the process.
STOP YOU RIGHT THERE. NOT EVERYONE HATED WOD! wod is far better than bfa lol wayyyyyy better, yes they both kinda low on content but i rather have another wod than bfa
Because when it was current, all there was to do was garrison missions and raid at the end game. Past that…it was a desert of content, especially when they cut an entire tier because of the garrisons.
It was when Blizzard didnt originally want to give players flying, and were almost close to never putting it back in.
I’m with you. Cata did absolutely nothing for me- and still doesn’t. There are a few cool dungeons and/or raids, but the overall theme and environment is weak IMO. Despite not being well received commercially, I really liked Pandaria at the time. Prior to Draenor, they added the Garrosh raid / dungeon, and I was so pumped for WoD… but my computer at the time couldn’t handle it. Now that that’s no longer an issue, I’m all into Draenor.
i said both are boring but i rather have wod over bfa bro, yes i hated garrison yet i enjoyed it because i had friends come over, but i didnot like idea how it puts you alone. i loved legion order halls they were perfect really.
Just the concept alone is a huge draw for Draenor. Orcs have been awesome from the beginning, especially Warcraft II. Then they went and added even more levels of awesome and bad—ery for WoD. You don’t even realize they’re orcs until their potrait is brought up, because they never had all that bad— armor before.
I love all the mobs there. Even those hellcat things. And the akkora(?) add some new flavor as well.
When your major patch is a selfie cam… and they received so much hate that they redid a zone entirely… it cut out a raid… a whole zone… and some other stuff.
Just a mismanaged expansion betting on being 1 year but ultimately fell flat with a lot of critics and players.
Flying debacle and the ‘‘we’d rather you not play demonology’’ type responses left a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths.
To me, class design goes a long way. If my class is fun and engaging to play, it’s easy to log in an find content. I did WoD gold challenge modes on 8 characters. I raided on 3-4 toons every week. There was plenty of content for me because it was fun to play the game. We also had a reward structure in WoD that wasn’t 94 layers of RNG.
In BFA there is nothing really wrong with the raids or M+, it’s just that all the classes feel god awful to play, which makes otherwise good content, not as fun. Then add on the completely bass ackwards reward structure and a lot of people have trouble finding content they enjoy. BFA doesn’t have a lack of content, it’s just that none of it is fun or rewarding to do.
I was about to post that WoD was the expansion where I caught up 10 alts, because the meat of the content was ‘repeat this on as many characters as possible’.
The way I see it is - I’d rather do enjoyable content (and while I do not enjoy BfA as much as I did Legion, I do find the dungeons in BFA way more enjoyable than WoD) on 2-3 characters than the same mehness on 10 characters.
I do owe WoD having a lot of gold and caught up professions, fast flying on all my characters…and a surplus of 100 hexweave bags.
But thats the thing: we can applaud WoD for only very sparse things…but on the topic of class design, its kind of nonsensical. Having a good class health is great, but if theres nothing to put it to the test or use it on…its basically a waste.
Sure, classes arent the best now. But there is content that pushes you to your limit and tests you on how good you are at them. Is it fun? Not to a good handful of people. Is it something to do? Absolutely.
Its why when people say BfA is worse than WoD, its basically a meme. Its not comparable since WoD didnt have a content patch in 6.1 and a lot of its content got cut in development. Go look on youtube for the endless amounts of things announced and datamined that never made it into the live version.
I would rather do meh content than no content at all.
90% of the content it has was given out the day it released. That content was basically done with 1 year in and they had no new content yet. People were getting bored and restless and the Devs decided to cancel finishing an entire zone and released the last raid, which was the only real content patch the whole xpac…The next xpac was planned for one year after WoD which is why all the content was in the release, but they sucked bad at finishing WoD and ran way behind on getting Legion out the door in time. So everyone stopped playing.
3 raids with a single content patch over almost 2 years time…it was laughably little content for the amount of time they wanted out of it. But the content they did release was quality IMO.
I stayed subbed through all of WoD. It will always remain the worst expansions that Blizzard has ever given us.
I’m not a big fan of BfA either, to be honest.
The story is the only thing keeping me interested, and even that is written like Game of Thrones episodes… except you get one episode every handful of months, and no season finale, just more unanswered questions.
“Stay tuned for the next episode of Who’s The Overarching Antagonist!!”
I LOVE the cinematics, the story, and the plot development… but good lord it is not satisfying at all.
