About the only compromise I’m willing to make besides removing layering completely is if they lock layers apart to act like separate servers with absolutely no leaving your layer after character creation at any point or for any reason, then merge later as(if) needed.
I mean each solution has its issues. If you put in dymanic respawns classes like mages are going to be king’s of leveling and far surpass everyone else because of aoe grinding.
When you have layering then u dont see the same names and it can lose its sense of community as u level.
I think the best solution is just fewer layers with slightly higher dynamic respawn numbers but its going to hard to get that number just right.
Thankfully they have stated very clearly stated with out lawyer speak that it’s a temporary part of Phase 1 Classic WoW and then it will be entirely removed because it’s disruptive to the Classic WoW experience.
Have you ,ever known over the years, for anything to be temp with wow. Brainless. They will say it’s limited and keep it, even though it diminished from game. Because they don’t understand what classic players want
Unarmored mounts were temporary. Corrupted blood plague was temporary. Scarab Lord was temporary. Scourge invasions were temporary. Battle for Undercity was temporary.
Like I said from start. I did this for classic wow. You are all 120’s. not the classic wow players. That is not what Blizzard wants. It’s the ones that left!
Blizzard is protecting their IP. They already said they don’t mind if 10 people play classic or if millions play classic. This isn’t really a project aimed at getting those classic players back, thats an added benefit.
It is a way to both A) get money, and B) stomp on private servers, protecting their IP, so that people can’t try and make a play for it. Getting players who are long gone back is just a bonus.
Oh, and Cozer? I may be a 120, but I’m also someone who has left the game. The two are not mutually exclusive.
Well the 5.5 now is dedicated to the ones that are brushing up on skills and the ones that want to play classic. From my point of view, the ones they want are not the wanna be classic players but the classic players
It doesn’t matter. I have made lifelong friends in Vanilla. People i still speak to today that haven’t played the game in years.
Layering means i may never run into someone because of a stupid mechanic. Someone that i could potentially become very good friends with. Layering is community breaking for this reason alone. Comparing layers to zones is comparing apples to oranges.
