Layering is just another fancy name to fool people like you, the differences don’t change anything it’s the same tech same effects
Do you want me to just fake quote you entirely? That was intentional.
I explained earlier what Layering was. Its not the same tech.
More to your liking?
You seem a bit dense bub.
There are no phasing in the layers.
The only time people can leave the layer if someone invites them to a new one. You will not all of a sudden phase out into a new layer.
It actually can be done, but the conditions to do so are highly unrealistic.
No Vanilla never had layering. A couple other things Vanilla never had - unlimited download of client (Vanilla started with a limited number of CD sets you had to buy and install), Vanilla never had a retail WoW version that made up an enormous pool of potential tourists that will flood the game at startup and likely leave in hours/days/weeks and return to retail.
The situation is different than it was in 2004. Blizzard has to have a way to deal with this difference.
Why don’t you take the time to learn about the what/why/how of layering before you start an ignorant screed railing against it?
There’s a compilation video of beta about all the weird phasing that occurs. Funniest part is when the streamer get dismounted mid flight path and fall to their death
No, they will not, If anything they will go to an unpopulated server. Then when things die down, xfer to the server they want. I downloaded the game CD’s I played WOD on release day, 30 minute server Q. Not once did I think i’m going to quit. People are pampered today, time to wing them off the tit.
THIS game isn’t for you. It’s NOT an expansion! It’s a game you can play now that’s watered down for you , but you’re not. You’re bored with the game and not playing BFA, your in the forums trying to figure out a better game to play. This is for the people that want the feel of the original. How could WOW been so popular back then with out this crap? Now do you see? All I see when I log into game is people selling runs? why? that is not the feel of classic! I’m level 110 and can not get in a premade group for ant? why? because they’re level 120 and don’t understand anything? No one wants pompous donkeys (aka. think of other word I cant post) like that playing classic.
None of what you posted disputed what I actually wrote.
Blizzard created the problem of tourism due to wanting to prop up subs.
They sell a box for BFA, they should sell a box for classic. They could have easily only allowed those who purchased the box to access the game for the first week or so, then allowed the rest of retailers access for free henceforth. That would have made launch day less dependent on layering. It would also have been actual hard data of who intended on playing classic at launch and likely to stick with it.
I agree with T Totem, although thunder totem is a crappy town.
The best solution to a Vanilla problem is a Vanilla solution (i.e., login queues, grouping up, natural player login and zone distribution and free realm transfers.)
These solutions were imperfect, of course. But you know what? The most successful MMO in history was the result.
WOD on release day. Don’t make me laugh. WOD was populated by players from Mists. Blizzard had a very good idea as to how many there would be. Things are quite different for Classic.
Maybe we can preserve the integrity of the game and you can come play a week after launch when the starting zones are empty instead ^.^
A couple days or even a week of chaos is far better than indefinite layering!
If you don’t like the rush and crowd, come back in a week!
Vanilla never had the problem of potentially 1-2 million tourists who will play a day or two and not come back. Use your head. What did Vanilla have - 500k CD sets sold at release? Layering is not there to make go live manageable - that is a side effect. Layering is there to permit a graceful and significant reduction of server population over the first few weeks.
Not really, 3k pop is 3k pop. If 1 layer is 3k pop or 1 server is 3k pop, the amount of people is the same. I prefer a screwed up couple days of launch over weeks of a screwed up game. The tourists always have the option to go play retail if the ques or crowds aren’t convenient.
Who cares about tourists? I care about long-term friendships.
I would imagine you would care about tourists if you find yourself in a 4k queue because the realm is loaded with tourists.
There is no propping up subs, Blizzard hasn’t reported them in a very long time.
If you are Blizzard why would you want to do what you suggest? They stand to make far more from the standard sub than they would from a one time box sale.
The goal is to get players to use both versions so it increases profits. Retail players have something to do in content lulls, Classic players maybe check out retail from time to time and recharge their batteries as well.
