As long as I’m maining my DH, I don’t mind the lack of flying at all since I can get around by throwing myself off cliffs and parkouring my way around terrain.
Key words being “as long as I’m maining my DH,” HA. I love using my druid in older content because the instant flying made things more convenient. But when you’re stuck in no-fly zones with obnoxious terrain (looking at you, Draenor) it makes gameplay a lot more tedious and unenjoyable.
It does suck because I miss playing my druid sometimes as much as I love my DH. But I don’t mind waiting a bit longer for flying to drop. Going off when it happened in Legion, I’m betting it’ll be closer to endgame.
Nope. Flying is great, I’ll use it when it comes out, but if it just never happened it wouldn’t effect me. There are so many tricks to get around that I can get basically anywhere almost as fast as my mage alt.
So, this is the thing with me.
Once upon a time there was this game where they clamed that you were welcome into this universe regardless of weather you liked hard core 40 man raids, or you just wanted to be the most epic blacksmith in your realm, or you just wanted to do quests, or … .
Somewhere between when I was told this lie and today I was told that I had never actually been told anything of the kind. However, although I’m becoming older by the day, I do still remember what I was told by their marketing way back then.
So, now we are in a “you must play every part of the game or you don’t matter” paradigm.
I personally prefer not to spend a lot of time doing “beat the AI” scenarios. I understand the attraction of solving a puzzle, figuring out the choreography of scenarios and beating them as a group. I spent many enjoyable hours over the years doing that. But it just isn’t what I’m after these days.
Also, I resent being told how I “should” be playing a game when that game obviously could, and in fact once used to, accommodate diverse play styles.
I like PvP, if you don’t like PvP you shouldn’t have to do PvP for anything other than PvP rewards. Reputation for flying? Sure.
PvP for flying? No.
Instanced PvE for flying? No.
So I never got flying in the last expansion.
And if it requires any raid or dungeon content for pathfinder II in BfA I won’t get flying in this expansion.
Don’t bother telling me that it’s “easy”, I don’t mind hard, I don’t mind complicated, I don’t mind long grinds if they’re engaging; I do mind boring, it’s a game, if it isn’t fun I’ll do something else that is fun with my limited leisure time.
I’m one of those “weird” players that agrees with Pathfinder so it’s really no skin off my back. When flying does come. I’ll jump through whatever hoops are in the way and get it lickety split but untill then, I will just keep on enjoying the world on the ground.
Agree with it all, especially the last sentence.
From a PvP server and I love flying, I don’t think it will be in game again though. It will go something like: “We can’t put flying in BFA zones due to technical reasons from WM. We will let you know if this changes in future expansions.” And that “time gate” will be infinite.
Wish they would. I’m one of the rare ones that wish they would. Riding on the ground doesn’t bother me a bit… haven’t had flying since Pandaland. But that’s just me…
If areas were generally easier to traverse, a lack of flying would only be a minor inconvenience, in my opinion. The problem with the current questing zones, especially in Kul Tiras, is that they are a pain to get from place to place in because of all the sheer cliffs, areas saturated with mobs, water, and areas you cannot mount in.
Let’s take Azurethos (or whatever that bird boss is called, lol), the world raid boss in Tiragarde Sound. There are only two tiny trails leading up to him, and it is almost impossible to run up the hill because of all the drops and plateaus. Not only this, but you have to pretty much run to the opposite side of the hill just to get to these paths, assuming you’re coming from the FP in Northern Boralus.
I personally wouldn’t mind rarespawns and big chests being out of the way and being a pain to get to; it adds a certain competitive element to them and would prevent constant influxes of farmers and campers (mostly). However, it’s annoying when this is the case for basic WQ’s that you need to grind out and it takes like an hour to do 3 or 4 of these because the maps aren’t clear how to get to them.
blood pressure rises remembering some of those quillboar Kraul WQ’s in Stormsong Valley Seriously, nothing in the history of WoW that I recall made me rage quite as hard as the quests in the Kraul where you need to get to the three cauldrons!
[Who else is irritated thats in 2019 and we still dont have flying yet?]
Not me. I figured out several YEARS ago that I don’t own Blizzard and I don’t make their company decisions for them. Blizzard decided in 2014 to disallow flying during the first several months of each expansion.
So I was expecting this.
Have you seriously spent YEARS being irritated because of something a corporation does?
