Within the confines of programming, people could making BIS crafting gear, of mythic quality, using vendor items.
Have the option to get to 120 only via crafting.
Have the option to just skip straight to 120.
I am sure there are plenty of people that want to play that way.
I guess I just want people to be honest and say what they mean, and not use over the top extreme statements that don’t actually apply to the situation.
I dunno, I don’t get why this is controversial. Back in TBC it took several months for most everyone I knew (save for AH tycoon types) to be able to afford to train epic flying. We were all fine.
That effect can’t be reproduced with raising training costs thanks to the wackiness of the modern game’s economy, so what other system could serve that purpose?
yeah, I guess you do. And I already clarified it, but here you are again. Lucky me. Oh, by ‘lucky me’ I mean, ‘oh crap’.
If they give someone the option, for example, to skip straight to 120, then they should not take away the other options of getting there. That’s why, using it as an example, there are MANY ways to get to 120, and not just one.
The problem I have, and the reason you attached yourself to me like a fly on dung is that people that do not like flying say it should be removed, time gated, or whatever, but they could totally still play their way. They could run along the ground for a whole expansion if they wanted.
Hell, they could walk everywhere and not run. That’s my point. You do not take away one person’s idea of fun in the game just because you don’t like it- especially if your way is still in the game for you to enjoy yourself. You’d have to be arrogant, speaking of arrogant I need to respond to the other pal I made.
Except it’s not even close to identical. I have been waiting for Part 2 since September 3rd. Waiting is the issue. If there were tasks that legitimately took that long to complete, that would be one thing. That is not the case though. I don’t know how to make this any more clear.
The issue we are having is that there is a ridiculous wait time. I get it, whether I buy it or have to do achievements is fine with me. What is not fine is having to wait so long to do it. Waiting in the previous expansions the 7 months was bad enough, this time it’s 9 months.
Next expansion if this continues it will be a full year that I am having to needlessly run around on the ground on my plethora of NON FLYING flying mounts because of no logical reason at all, the whole time becoming even more jaded than the Pandarian Forest!
In that case, it sounds like the issue has more to do with a lack of things to keep players busy (which is a fair argument) than it does with not being able to fly.
That very well could be the heart of it. I play as much as I find fun, but when things start to feel overly annoying I stop playing much until we get flying. Flying allows me to relieve at least some of the tedium.
I mean, ultimately, I am fine with not playing for months at a time. However, it would be preferable, probably for all parties concerned, to not have that down period and having flying would likely be the cheapest and easiest remedy for that.
This is an old and tired argument. I have experienced the current content on 5 different characters now. I’ve done the story on both factions and the faction grinds. I’ve done world quests ad nauseum. I have done the warfronts and island expeditions. I have done all the dungeons countless times. I have done the raids. The only content I have not experienced is Mythic raiding and I am not interested in doing so.
What content have I not experienced enough that I can not fly yet?
I have doubts as to the effectiveness of such a strategy, but I believe one of the big reasons Blizz went through with Classic is to provide a sort of “secondary WoW” to retain subs with through content droughts.
Well you can certainly doubt all you like. Clearly, I can only speak for myself but prior to WoD I had never let my sub lapse. Since WoD, I probably spend as much time unsubbed as I do subbed.
As for Classic, that holds no interest to me. I just give my money to another company. Again, I am fine with this fact… but would be more fine if this were not the case.
So we are moving the goalposts now, are we? I made no comments on length of time you can fly in current content. I said Part 2 wasn’t a long grind to unlock… because… it wasn’t.
