WoW is easier and more accessible than it has ever been. You are addicted to instant gratification to an unhealthy degree and don’t know the value of working for something (OMG I sound like a conservative).
You don’t need flying at all. It’s nice to have, but un-necessary and working for something makes it taste sweeter than simply being given it for free.
Also, they moved away from simply giving you flying because of how it made wrath and cata feel. Flying literally shrinks the world and devalues all the hard work the environment artists put into making the game.

Nope. Because you have to earn it. You have to see every little cave and blade of grass and walk through puddles and earn it. At that point we should be able to fly. Not earn it, wait nine months, earn more and THEN fly.

Flying does not have to shrink the world. Some of the most wonder I’ve felt has been when I could soar above and see the world from that angle.
I think the current model is good, though debate on the exact timing of PF2 is always going to be ongoing.

Really I think Pathfinder is fine. Flight is cool but it’s hardly essential. Half the time when I’m out in old continents I forget that I even have it… that’s how low impact it is.
The problem with doing it that way is that it creates incentive to burn through Pathfinder’s requirements as quickly as possible to get flight, which is directly counterproductive to goal of Pathfinder.

Well, all I can say is whether a man burns through content or leisurely strolls through it, they both have the same experience. Taking away one person’s fun just because you don’t like it even when your idea of fun is still available, is arrogant, wrong, and entitled.

Not quite… the guy burning through it all is gonna be focused on efficiency above else and will probably go the whole run without so much as stopping to soak in the scenery.

Sheesh you narcissist. You think that everyone should “take in the scenery” because you want them to? Some people do not care about that at all. If they don’t want to see it or care about it why are you trying to force it on them while you can stop and look at each individual flower if you care to.

I don’t really care either way about flying though. If it’s in game I’ll use it, if not then a ground mount will due. Not a make or break point for me.

That assumes that people are stopping and soaking up the scenery when it is gated. I don’t think that’s the case. Either people are inclined to stop and smell the roses, or they are not. If they are, even if it’s not gated they will still largely do as they prefer. If they aren’t, even when it is gated they still aren’t going to be inclined to soak up the sights.

I’m not going to cancel my sub. I know I can start working on Pathfinder part 2 when 8.2 releases. I’m not going to waste all the time I put into part 1 just to walk away when the finish line is in sight.

No, but I do think it’s detrimental to have large swaths of the playerbase taking a blinders-equipped approach to playing the game. WoW and its community were at their best when the majority were doing a little of everything instead of siloing themselves off into their chosen 5% of the game.

Now you are trying to justify ruining other people’s ways of having fun in the game because it does not fit your arbitrary and subjective opinion of what you personally think was best.

I actually prefer doing “a little of everything”, but that’s hard to do with Ion and Co. funneling us all into the game play they think we should do.

I couldn’t care less about flying. Sure, I do want it at some point in the expansion, but I’m not going to quit over it.
