Who else is gonna cancel sub if we cant get flying immediately with 8.2 release?

So your sub balances entirely on whether or not there is flying in 8.2? If that’s the only thing keeping you playing then I really don’t think having flying will magically make you want to play a lot more or even love the game more.

On point once again, friend. I DO have fun playing the game. Hence why I have seven characters total. But flying adds a new dynamic, and after leveling a few times, the method in which we do so does need to be altered somewhat. There are only three zones per faction. Flying would help a lot. Not to mention the mob density in BfA is pretty nuts in and of itself.

Except they aren’t crying about the rep grind, they are crying because they are still waiting to fly after completing the first part.

If there is a second part it should be available to work towards or it should be a separate achievement to fly in the new zones upon release. Players who have completed pathfinder part 1 should be flying right now.

You disagree?

Exactly. The rep grind really hasn’t been an issue for me in BfA (or even Legion for that matter). I’m already Exalted with all of the factions and have even received Paragon chests from all of them. I’m ready for flying

I would quit, but I’m just going to complain on the forums and watch Blizz do nothing about it. Just like the rest of you.

It seems as though they have decided that all of our gaming experiences in WoW are better without flying. Many of us disagree, but I think they are sold on the idea and they don’t seem too interested in further discussion about it.

I will NOT be cancelling based on that.

i believe it should be time gated. play the map as intended before being able to fly over it

But that seems to be the main point of this thread. We HAVE played the map as intended. And for many of us, we’ve done so multiple times. If you want to time gate it, at the very least it should only be until 8.1, not almost a full year.

Honestly at this point, who cares about flying. What would it actually do for the game other than to see stuff from above…

There is no zones or places that require flying to get to that actually create a sense of adventure. “I wonder what’s on the other side of that hill?”. Nothing new to discover. Because you can go anywhere at any level now that is accessible by ground. Remember WOTLK? you COULD NOT go places until you were powerful enough, trained enough; a sense of growth.

I still want to see the summit of Mount Cortis in Drustvar

If I was dead set on being able to fly I’d buy the game about a month or two before flying was available. Most content would be out, catch up mechanics would be in place and the story some what streamlined. Then I could play at a descent pace and get flying almost seamlessly.
But I don’t care so I don’t do that.

Fair enough. Far Sight? lol. But still there isn’t a purpose up there. You are no more powerful or engaged, other than experiencing a nice place to be.

Which is very true, but even once I’ve seen all the mountain peaks of BfA, flying can still be used to get my remaining alts to 120 a little faster while also avoiding the sea of monsters below

IMHO, it is NOT a good compromise. It is, again, IMHO, a passive-aggressive way for the developers to “allow” flight on their terms, and their timeline, because of what happened in WoD when they tried to kill flight outright.

You want people to experience the content? Tie flying to a Loremaster achievement for the expansion, then, or to reputation. But constantly adding more hoops and delaying it for months is no compromise.

Again, all IMHO.

The people who are against flying were not against it until Ion made it an issue in the first place. Nobody complained about flight before Ion made it an issue. He is either way out of touch or just a flat our liar if he thinks the player base is split on the flight issue.

There are a lot of people not playing right now because of this very issue. An issue that could be solved with swallowing some pride and near 0 dev cost. Change a small amount of code to allow pathfinder part 1 to let you fly in current content and I feel most people would be happy and would probably bring back some subs.

How far do you want to take that analogy? Why 100% ground speed mounts, then? Why not lock everyone in at 60%? There is nothing in the game that requires you to have 100% ground speed mounts.

Flying became a problem because Blizzard MADE it one. No other reason.

This is actually false. There were people that were against flight all along. Even Ghostcrawler said in retrospect it probably should not have been added. This was long before Ion came around as game director.

edit: I am not disagreeing with you that I would like flight available after Part 1. The comments that no one complained and it wasn’t an issue until Ion, however, aren’t true.

Wow!! Is flying all you want out of the game? That seems to be what you and a lot of people are saying. So if they allowed you to fly immediately after getting PF1, what would there be to do for the remainder of the expansion? Would you just quit then and wait until next expansion to get to fly again?

I finished my PF1 on 9/6 and have yet to stop finding stuff to do in the expansion. Had I taken to the skies, I would have missed a lot of what was seen only on the ground level. Flying is worth waiting for and I, personally, am happy that we have to wait to get it.

I’m looking forward to the new zones and I will be questing and doing as much as I can to get the PF2 done ASAP.

Just like Ghostcrawler before him, Ion is unfairly singled out as responsible for attitudes that are clearly endemic to the whole development team. Getting rid of Ion is not going to fix this issue anymore than Ghostcrawler’s departure did. From my perspective, the entire development team has an unnatural fixation with raiding. Anything that doesn’t support the current tier of raids is downgraded into irrelevance. That’s not an Ion problem. That’s a WoW design team problem. You don’t need to fly when raid portals are conveniently located in each faction’s main city.
