While im here another question about 3rd party software

I have seen a lot of people get banned / suspended for using software but they claim up and down and swear on their mothers graves they didnt do anything. My question is about Logitec software. I use a g910 keyboard and G600 mouse I have the ability to set key bindings in the program to run scripts. The software is always on and is needed to run the mouse and keyboard. What is blizz stance on gaming device software that can macro and script? I dont want to end up being one of these random banned people all cuz my mouse.

As long as you’re not using it for automated gameplay, you’re fine. One keypress equals one action. Most of us have keyboard that are cable of automating gameplay. In and of itself that’s fine.

Excuse me. Keystroke. We had someone try and argue that up and down on a key were two different actions once.

i was more worried about how they detect stuff and would they say oh they are running this… I use a script in Ark for auto run cuz that game dosnt have auto run were I just push my G1 key and I can walk away and let my bird fly across the map while I make food. Thats why I was wondering cuz with all the people doing the classic thing(not me though dont care for it) trying not to get afk logged out I can see that could be abused

Generally speaking, that a keyboard mouse can do something isn’t a factor. If you use functionality that isn’t otherwise allowed, that would be.

As long as that function isn’t running while playing WoW, and there’s no need for it to be, you should be fine.

that script only auto loads on arks load. I have the software to detect what game launches and sets key binds and colors depending on what game is detected. But like I said I was more wondering cuz It can be used to do lots of stuff. Im sure if you wanted to you could even autofish with a script and fishing buddy not that im gona waste like 14 years of wow for fishing but theory ya know

Try and do it in the game without using the keyboard/mouse software. If you can do it, it should be fine. If you can’t do it, don’t do it with the keyboard/mouse software.

one keypress=one action where one keypress is press and release.
one action on down press and one action on release is one keypress and two actions. It is not allowed.

I always found it safest to use programmable keys to execute a single macro.
That way there’s no question about it being permitted or not.

That’s what I do as well.

All the extra buttons I use on my gaming mouse/keyboard have a macro I made in-game assigned to them. No chance of running afoul of the rules that way.

yeah I was more concerned about the fact that the software that allows the use of the scripts is always running and the automatic detection of 3rd party apps is to my knowledge based on memory usage. Blizz dosnt really tell us how they determine that stuff for obvious reasons but you see what im getting at with all the people claiming that they did nothing and the lack of transparency / ban waves. Innocent actions can look hostile to a computer program so thats why I wanted to know were blizz stands on what is basically an industry standard now days

Blizzard cannot give a solid yes or no to third party software because they have no control over how it functions.

Follow the advice of the previous posters and you should be fine. There are plenty of people here who use gaming keyboards/mice and have never had problems.

I’ve had a Logitech keyboard that has macro capabilities for over 10 years now - the original G15. I know I had it during BC, I can’t say for certain if I got it any earlier than that. I’ve also had a few mice with macro capabilities for just as long - currently a Logitech G602, and I’ve never had a problem with being falsely suspended.

What I do is I bind the G-keys/buttons to an odd key combination (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+A, Ctrl+Alt+Shift+B, etc.) in the Logitech software for the WoW profile. Then I bind those buttons in game to various slots on my action bars. I do use addons to get access to extra action bars that I can hide, until I need to change things up for my various G-keys/buttons (CTMod… yeah, I’m old school).

You’ll never have a problem if you do it that way. Then everything is going through the WoW interface. You’re just using the extra buttons as odd key bindings that you’d likely never hit otherwise and binding actions to those odd key combinations.
