Which is superior? Cats or Dogs

How long ago was that? Laws have been getting better over the years.

But yeah I’m the same way. I don’t trust strange dogs, no matter the breed. I also don’t take my dogs out in public since I don’t have eyes in the back of my head.

Not true you can train cat also. My roomate trained his cat to wear harness and to do outside with a leash and all. Cause he was jealous of the dog. And now He beg and play with the harness to go outside

I’m not a cat person but man I love this commercial:

Dogs have objectively soft and pliable brains that can be easily trained. They cower and immediately get lost when they get out of the house. I generally consider dogs to be dumb.

Cats are strong willed, much smarter than dogs. Do what they want, don’t give a F about what you want or what you think. Getting affection from a cat takes effort in a lot of cases, and has a much bigger payoff.

Cats are generally cheaper and easier to keep as pets, which makes them far superior. Cats rule, dogs drool!

Sure you can if you want to, like using a leash or even tricks. Cats are smart. I was talking about no need to train them to be behaved and clean in the house, very opposite of a dog.

But they’re not.

No they’re not.

Thats true. trained my dog to use a litter quite usefull. The only issuewell she was too small for the wood pellets so i had to change for Pee-pad.

That article literally says it’s a toss up lol. I stick to my reasoning.

Except it doesn’t:

However, various studies have concluded that, overall, cats are not smarter than dogs.

And it’s fine if you like cats more than dogs but to say they’re smarter is simply false.

You mean this part?

“Ultimately, it is impossible to settle on one side or another, as there are extenuating factors to intelligence.”

Like come on. It’s also a worthless article.

No this part:

As dogs have been domesticated for longer, they have been able to adapt to the ways of humans and thus, if we measure their intelligence by sociability or ability to follow rules, they are far ahead of cats.

And this part:

If looking at the data, dogs have the upper hand, but there are clearly some tests where cats could be said to win the day, despite dogs having a domestic advantage.

And this part:

An estimate of the number of neurons in the average huuman cortex is 16 billion, according to Herculano-Houzel’s findings. Her research found the dogs had 429 million and 623 million neurons for the mixed breed and golden retriever respectively, while the cat had 250 million neurons in their cerebral cortexes.

Why? Because it proves you wrong?

I love both dogs and cats but dogs will always be my favorite. :dog:

From Psychology Today:

" The findings include:

  • In associative learning, dogs do not exhibit any unusual advantages over other animals.
  • Dogs do have an excellent sense of smell, but similar abilities have been found in other animals, including pigs, horses, and cats.
  • Physical [cognition] in dogs is not unique, and their performance is about the same as wolves, cats, bottlenose dolphins, and horses.
  • In spatial tasks, dogs are not more exceptional than other animals."

We can go back and forth if you want. I can Google stuff too lol.

Do you realize you just quoted this?

Fatalities, yes.

The dog most likely to actually bite is a Chihuahua.
Second most likely is a Dachshund.

But pits are the most likely to kill.

This assumes that a measure of “best” is servitude to humanity.

I prefer cats precisely because they are more companions than slaves.

Yes? And I also quoted where dogs have bigger brains and overall they are the smarter animal. Just read the damn article. Read any article. They all say the same thing.

And yes, I’m sure if there’s a test for which animal could catch a mouse better, the cat would win.

My goldfish is a slave. My dog is my best friend.

No this is reported bites. Pit bulls make up at least 70% of all recorded.

Any article that agrees with you right? K, I’ll just ignore all the other ones that disgree… :upside_down_face:

No… there’s one from National Geographic that says dogs are smarter but I some how rigged that I guess.

I mean, you’re both wrong but thats ok. Cocker Spaniels bite the most. Pitbulls are on the low end but when they do bite it can be catastrophic, obviously.

My cat bites me all the time. It’s hilarious. That’s another plus, I can laugh at the cat biting me, the dog bites me I go to the hospital.
